This was a fun brawl, and a hot angle to end the TV show with. Too bad the Koloffs didn't stick around, but Fulton Bros would soon have the Bodies to feud with.

[1992-02-22-USWA-TV] Jeff Jarrett and the Moondogs
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
"It looks like Jeff bought a hardware store!" I don't know why Lee and the Moondogs took a powder, Jeff was throwing everything in the ring, they had a chance to get it and use it first. -
I can't believe I'd never heard of this match until now, this was loads of fun. It really looks like Kawada and Kikuchi are finished as soon as the match starts, and even during the final stretch, Kroffat is holding his own while he's in there with Kawada, which seems odds until you remember that Kawada was still just Misawa's #2, not anywhere close to being a top level guy.

[1992-02-21-GWF] Eddie Gilbert vs Big Bad John
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
Prichard looks like he should be a member of Dokken with that hair. This was a fun David vs. Goliath sort of match, although it was disappointing to see Gilbert adhere to the stip. If he really wanted to emulate Lawler, he'd have thrown a fireball at BBJ and hit the bricks- 9 replies

Finally, a trios match from Mexico that seems worthy of standing alongside the Dangerous Alliance and Misawa/Jumbo matches. I dug this a ton, but, then again, it's five of the best in the world along with Mike Lozansky, and it's not like Lozansky does anything to kill the flow (although he seemed to take his sweet time finishing off Hamada in the second fall).

[1992-02-15-WCW-Pro] Rick Rude vs Brian Pillman
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
This was great stuff, Rude went above and beyond to make Pillman look good, especially selling his leg, and giving Pillman a few close near falls, but manages to take the opening and eek out the win.- 15 replies

It's sad that Barry will be mostly remembered, if at all, as the jobber who patted himself on the back. He was great here, showing a bunch of personality and looking pretty good in the ring. I don't think I've seen anyone break a sleeperhold the way Barry did. Fun finish with Barry seeming to have it won, only for it to slip away. He came from ahead to lose.

This was an interesting promo. Paul E. reminds everyone that he used to sit in the booth and praise the Steiners as the best team in the world, and Anderson laments to "JR" that he thinks there's something wrong with the world when people with college degrees can't get jobs. In the story of his career, Bobby stays in the background and says nothing.

Flair and Savage are both great, Hogan and Sid, much less so. Honestly, Sid didn't even really threaten Brutus all that much, it was Flair and UT who were prepared to do some damage.

[1992-02-15-USWA-TV] The Moondogs vs Brian Collins & Ricky Hutchens
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
I wonder if any of the TV jobbers ever left when the lineup sheet was posted and they saw that they were booked against the Moondogs? These two fare just as well as everyone else has.- 10 replies

I've watched a bunch of the 1992 SMW season set, and there are several Wright promos in this vein, and they're all great. I agree with Cox that part of the greatness is that Wright had been such a dastardly, mean, person for so long, and that fans in TN tend to have long memories so they didn't exactly feel sorry for him.

Like Cornette, this seems rather edgy for 1992, especially the Dusty impression and how a bunch of the boys in the fed are there because they wouldn't kiss ass.

I didn't get a few of the references he made, but the Magic Johnson and Pee Wee Herman ones were understood. This seems rather edgy stuff for 1992.

[1992-02-15-WWF-Superstars] Hulk Hogan Right Guard commercial
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
I've said it before, but it's worth repeating. Typical, for the time, WWF goofiness, but not nearly as goofy and corny as Austin and D'Lo Brown doing 1-800-Collect. -
[1992-02-14-CMLL] Bestia Salvaje vs Huracan Sevilla (Hair vs Hair)
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
Maybe it's because I'm not very familiar with either of these two, but I just wasn't feeling this. I could recognize cool things, like the near falls toward the end and the insane spot when Salvaje propelled Sevilla over the top, but I just wasn't into this all that much.- 15 replies

Brad Armstong talks about this match in his ROH Shoot interview, and how much it impressed Hase that the crowd got behind him as much as they did. The Hase/Brad exchanges are definitely the highlight for me, with Hase stiffing Brad with slaps and damn near trying to amputate his leg. This was a fun match, with a really good finishing stretch. Mutoh and Hase wind up looking more lucky when they toss Norton to the floor and quickly finish off Brad.

[1992-02-10-NJPW-Fighting Spirit] Jushin Liger vs Pegasus Kid
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
Lyger is apparently defending both the IWGP Jr. Title and the WCW Light Heavyweight Title here. This another great match, although different from the Honaga match in that Benoit worked more of a Lyger style than Honaga. They both pulled out some huge bombs, Benoit's dropkick from the top was especially nuts, but Lyger once again pulls it out in a clinch. This is the Benoit that was lacking in Mexico.- 11 replies

Wow, the crowd seems almost apathetic when Rick tosses Vader and then drops him with the Steinerline. Sting does get a bit of a reaction when he slams Vader, but not nearly what he should have. Tony: Could you imagine a match with these two (Vader and Sting)?

This was fun for what it was, which was mostly a five minute stall tactic to the big angle. I really dug Savage's axe handle to Jake while he was draped over the guardrail, and Jake's selling was reminiscent of when Savage did that to Steamer. And then, Savage tries to use the bell.

This was probably the first time in my young mark life that I knew damn well what was going to happen before it did. Like Loss said, this is another prime example of asshole Hogan. Even the booking is kind to him, he gets the lame DQ win, and then gets to still make the superman comeback and run off the heels and stand tall. Sid couldn't even lay him out with the powerbomb to heat up 'Mania?

[1992-02-08-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett and The Moondogs
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
I loved the line in Lawler's promo when he talking about Lee and the Moondogs looking at themselves in the mirror, and remarked that the Moondogs probably hadn't shaven a day in their lives. Two weeks in a row that Eddie Marlin almost got creamed by a Moondog chair. -
[1992-02-08-USWA-TV] Eric Embry/Dirty White Boy feud recap
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
Embry is such a sleezy looking heel. Between this and the Moondogs, USWA seemed to be red-hot during this time. Now if only we could get a Moondogs and Embry vs. Lawler/Jarrett/DWB match. -
[1992-02-01-USWA-TV] Eric Embry vs Dirty White Boy
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in February 1992
I've only seen a little bit of Embry, in some '91 USWA where he was a heel feuding with Dundee. This clip alone is better than all of that combined.
