[1992-04-11-SMW-TV] Heavenly Bodies vs Brad & Bart Batten
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
This is a fun little match, but the centerpiece here is obviously the debut of the Bodies after all the buildup, and it's a good payoff. -
[1992-04-11-USWA-TV] Brian Christopher vs Tom Prichard
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
Pritchard saying that Christopher should be arrested for impersonating a wrestler cracked me up. Typical bait and switch angle, but Christopher being a whiny punk made it amusing. -
[1992-04-11-USWA-TV] Brian Christopher vs Tom Prichard

I love this Moondogs angle, but now they're getting carried away, it seems like they're just randomly attacking people now. -
Awesome promo from Embry, especially him making the point of saying the fans don't care for him and the feeling is mutual, and also namedropping guys who'd left the area like Fuller and Idol.

This is a useless segment by itself, but it's useful as part of the whole angle with Lawler and Jarrett.

[1992-04-05-WWF-Wrestlemania VIII] Hulk Hogan vs Sid Justice
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
I'd never seen Sid destroying the Barbershop before, that window really took beating between Sid and Shawn. Once again, the booking is awfully kind to Hogan, Warrior makes the save, but then Hogan gets to save Warrior and make Sid run off. -
[1992-04-05-WWF-Wrestlemania VIII] Ric Flair vs Randy Savage
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
The whole time I watched this, I found myself thinking that it was obviously good, but that it wasn't holding up compared to Hart/Piper. There's no reason that his shouldn't have surpassed it, Flair and Savage could both bring it, and the blood and overall hatred sure helps. But there's goofy things like the suits holding back Liz for no reason, and I really hate the finish. Savage turning the tables on Ric cheating works, Savage just randomly rolling him up and grabbing the tights doesn't. -
[1992-04-05-WWF-Wrestlemania VIII] Interview: Lex Luger
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
Luger cuts a decent promo in the vein of a conceited heel, even though he wouldn't be wrestling for another nine months. -
[1992-04-05-WWF-Wrestlemania VIII] Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
This was great more for the characters than the actual work, although the work isn't too shabby either. It's fun watching Bret and Piper both taking little shortcuts on each other, Bret faking the injury to get the cradle and Piper letting the fists fly and getting Bret bloody. The finish is a bit out of nowhere, but was original at the time, and it's been aped plenty of times since.- 38 replies

Cornette selling getting hit with the underwear is hilarious. And, like Kevin said, it's always great to see him rip on the SMW fans. Poor Ron Wright, first his hip and now he needs open heart surgery. Good promo from DWB tearing down the babyfaces in the tournament.

[1992-04-04-USWA-TV] Eric Embry vs Dirty White Boy (Stretcher)
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
Was this DWB's farewell to the USWA? It was cool to see this feud and the Moondogs feud get intertwined, even so briefly, because they attacked Embry a few minutes later. -
[1992-04-04-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett and The Moondogs
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
The usual awesome segment featuring this feud. I loved the replay afterwards of Lawler burning Richard Lee again.- 11 replies

[1992-04-04-WWF-Superstars] Hulk Hogan career retrospective
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
This was a fun little segment, easily the most emotional I've seen Hogan get in a promo that wasn't angle related, but it didn't come off overdone.- 13 replies

I think that Bret and Hase is a perfect comparison, actually.
-
I dunno, Will, I think giving him all four years of 1994-97 is pretty generous. I'll give you '94 and '97 without too much argument. Bret spent most of '95 in mid card hell, he had the boring submission match with Backlund at 'Mania, spent the summer rekindling the feud with Lawler, with his dentist thrown into the mix, and finally went back to title contention late in the year. Even with the Lafeit, Diesel, and Davey Boy matches to his credit, it's not exactly a banner year for Bret. Bret was gone for most of 1996, he was around from January-March and then came back in November.

The story making the rounds at the time was that Patrick was supposed to fast-count Sting to let Hogan win, leading to Bret's interjection and the real finish. But Hogan approached Patrick and told him to make a regular count.
-
If you only watched the last few minutes after Bret interjects himself and makes himself the ref.

I don't need to put the letter "S" in front of hitman, but offhand, I can think of about fifteen workers who I enjoy watching more. That said, he's a damn fine worker and certainly ranks highly in the context of the great workers of the WWF in the 1990's.

[1992-04-04-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Ric Flair & Mr Perfect
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
Now this is the REAL Ric Flair! In a suit and talking about limos, jets, space mountain etc. Ho-hum, just another great Ric Flair promo. -
[1992-04-04-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Mrs Elizabeth
MikeCampbell replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
Shockingly good promo from Liz, even if she's not the greatest actress. I remember when this angle was happening, and when the "true" photos were published, I thought the "faked" ones looked more plausible.- 10 replies

As has already been said, this was a blast to watch, but there's not really much to write about. This would be a great match to show someone who hasn't seen shoot style before.
