  1. Plus I'm sure if someone jumped against the wall from about 6 feet away and smashed his forehead against the wall, and did it every night, he'd get a rash of concussions as well.
  2. A WCMB poster named Neal Snow made that belt.
  3. I'm just joking about it but they really could have booked that match differently and still adhered to Bret's limitations.
  4. I wonder where that philosophy went at this year's Mania. I can't imagine Vince giving "getting beaten by a chair" three times as his three big moves.
  5. Speaking of Flair, today I was thinking about him for some reason, so I checked out his wikipedia page, and the very last sentence in the first section which seems shoehorned in is "Never drew a dime." I scratched my head and closed the page and forgot about it til I read this thread.
  6. I have a friend named Chris who is still somewhat of a mark. Hasn't paid much attention to wrestling since 2001 or so but now watches TNA regularly because they have Hall, Nash, Waltman, and Hogan. He asks me at least once a month why TNA won't sign Disco Inferno, Marcus Bagwell, Rick Steiner, and Randy Savage. He thinks signing them would put TNA over the top. He does not seem willing to accept that 1998 was twelve years ago. Funny enough TNA did have each one of the 4 at one point or another in it's existence.
  7. This is why Christian, despite getting good reactions and "star" treatment by fans, will never be a main eventer in the 'E.
  8. While they won't be sending each other christmas cards, Triple H respects Jericho. The thing is, Jericho is bulletproof. He can get over again easily after a bad program. The WWE knows this, so they afford themselves to clown on Jericho a bit for the fans' delight. I wouldn't be surprised if Jericho pitched parts if not all of this storyline. The bromance thing, breaking up, etc is too much of something he'd come up with. Jericho strikes me as a guy who knows his legacy is secure, and he's just having fun poking fun at his own character.
  9. I'm not surprised. The WWE has an annoying habit of taking guys down a few pegs after a major run. I'm just surprised it took two years for them to do that to Jericho, as I figured it'd start after the HBK program.
  10. The other women that was listed, I'd agree with as having less power than stated, but you're fucking joking if you don't think Stephanie has real powers. Sure, Vince can veto her ideas, but more often than not her ideas shine through in the product, because Vince isn't going to veto many of her ideas. That's why the WWE is in the shape it is in today. As far as I know the only idea that Vince was very deadset on not approving was the War Games, and that was really more Triple H's thing than Stephanie's. Furthermore, under your criteria, not many women have the ability to say they have powers, in every company. Because many companies are owned by a male, who could ultimately step in and say "Fuck this, this is my show and I run it." But many of them allow people under them to try to run things with as much freedom as possible. It's not like it's a democracy out there in every business. So with that in mind, Stephanie's a good pick as any as a woman with power.
  11. Besides Stephanie, you mean?

It's the WWE. Vince will never admit they were in the wrong (and really you can argue for both sides here anyways). And the Vince/Bret thing is called an angle... if they had Bret and Vince celebrating to end the night, there is no reason for Bret to return the next three months and have a match with Vince at Mania. Sure they could have had Bret lay a challenge to Vince, but after the Shawn segment, it would come off as Bret being bitter still. This way the segment painted Vince as the one unwilling to move on, and it worked IMO. Really, you are just nitpicking here, much like when you complained about Jericho's haircut and vest when he came back. Jericho's run turned out pretty good, didn't it?

Whoever mentioned the old guys being showcased, don't forget they are also pushing HBK/Taker for Mania, which is something you could see often in 1997...

I know what you mean by that, but I'm not really a fan of the whole trainwreck concept. I mean Raw didn't exactly win me over with their show tonight, even though I appreciated the Bret/HBK opening and the ending was a fine way to continue whatever angle they're pushing towards Mania. But it was not the total circle jerk that Impact seemed to be. It seemed like Hogan was trying too hard to put over the idea that this would be different this time, yet it all came across as the same. I just wonder if people looked at the Angle/Styles match (which I haven't seen, but judging by the PBP commentary) and declared the whole show a success by default. If that is the case, it only makes me dislike Angle more. I couldn't believe that he was getting a lot of talk as Wrestler of Decade in a lot of places, and it's the same guy berating Eddie Guerrero for selling too much. Just ugh.

I just can't believe the guys over at Wrestling Classics messageboard actively liked Impact. It just sounded so terrible. I was seriously considering catching the replay on Thursday earlier on, but then the show happened. Now? I doubt I even watch it on Thursday or at any point in the future. I was going to give Hogan a shot with TNA, but that shit just sounded so atrocious. But hey, they gave away Angle/Styles on free tv which is always good for an IWC creamjob. I'd take the "boring" Raw over that any day. Hell I'm pretty sure Orton/Kofi was the actually better match with the story they told, and they weren't given 20 minutes for it.

I didn't watch TNA because I figured it would be bad (and from the reports, I was right), but I didn't see anything wrong with Raw (Hornswoggle/DX stuff aside). Seemed like standard fare to me though the Bret segments was better than most of the guest host crap they've been putting on. Now I'm not making an apology for Raw, because it's what it is, but what were you guys expecting? An epic?
  17. Some people have to be very careful about painting in broad strokes. I am a "hardcore" Bret fan and I don't recall ever claiming that he had too much integrity to return to WWE. It makes me feel like because Bret is inconsistent with his words, I am being inconsistent in my own integrity, and that is just not right at all. I am excited about him coming in because it's Bret Hart, and I have no problems with him whoring himself out for a paycheck, because it has nothing to do with my character as a person.
  18. As opposed to you being defensive for being exposed as a person who rarely steps outside his wrestling-oriented bubble and then assuming that random people also resides in said bubble? The reality is you likely surround yourself with "like minded" individuals who shares similar interests and disinterests. They in no shape or form qualify as "random". It's like if I tried to say that no one knows who Chris Jericho is because my family and friends don't follow wrestling, and therefore, wouldn't know who he is, then applying it to the general population which will likely consist of some wrestling fans who does in fact know who Jericho is.
  19. Forgive me for asking but what has Foley shown to be unaware of? Any examples?
  20. That's fine, but there's a better way to make that point than to make a sweeping generalization about the population that you have no standing to speak for. That's where you come across as a tool.
  21. I would but I've long left the mall. The original argument that RE was making was that people wouldn't know who Apatow was, based on the fact HE didn't. This clearly proved him wrong, assuming one is to believe this informal survey.
  22. Well I decided to put this to work at the mall today when I was shopping for Christmas presents. I asked 50 people the following: Who is Judd Apatow? Out of 50, 39 people successfully answered the question with a various forms of answers ranging from "a movie producer/director" to specifically detailing what movies he has been attached to. 5 people blew the question off and 6 people failed to get it right. In short, Resident Evil is a douchebag as usual.
  23. I admitted that there were "a few fans here or there" that still believed that, but I'm pretty sure 90% or better of his fans knows the jig is up on that portrayal. Posting one video (that I can't view right now) doesn't exactly refute that point. And yes I know he was portrayed that way... in 1997-1999. However I refer to 2009 fans.
  24. I think Bret having a following of fans who believes in him as a real life hero is as much of a myth as him actually being a real life hero. No one anywhere I've seen besides a few fans here or there has painted Bret as a saint or as a martyr. On a larger scale, he's been portrayed as a me-first egomaniac who can't bear seeing his legacy tarnished. This comes from one of his biggest fans of his career. Now on to this business, he isn't the first to "sell out" for a paycheck nor will he be the last. This is professional wrestling, a business full of self centered men who partakes/partook in high school dramatic bullshit all their lives, why anyone can be surprised or indignant about it is beyond me. Also, to lend my two cents, I'm guessing Bret saw this as not only an opportunity to revive/preserve his legacy, but I'm pretty sure he'd like the satisfaction of saying that his return was more important on January 4 and beyond than a certain orange goblin. You know, the one who has spent the later years belittling him (remember he wouldn't lose to him at King of the Ring, pretty sure the guy isn't over that). That said, I will be excited to tune in because this is Bret "The Hitman" Hart making himself a storyline character for the first time in 10 years, and it's not like he hasn't provided enough ammo to tarnish my fond memories of him, but I am not the kind of person to let a three month stint do that to me. Just a thought.
  25. Loss saying Green is irrelevant then rattling off names who are much more irrelevant to the audience WWE panders to is pretty funny.
