Interested to see what people say if Dillon doesn't make top 10, who is getting in there? Would anyone rate Fuller over Dillon? A lot of questions for this one, I'd say number one is undisputed (Heenan) and probably number 2 as well (Cornette), but the conversation after that is interesting.: There are people who like Jimmy Hart and people who don't, same with Gary Hart. What about the old WWWF's "Triumvirate of Terror" (Blassie, Albano, Grand Wizard)? How do they rate? If there are really 10 better managers than Dillon, who were they? Do you rate Vince and Shane as "managers", or Bischoff? Was Meltzer right to rag on Mr. Fuji for all those years? What about Slick? Do we count women and if so is Sherri top 10, or Liz for that matter? What about manager runs people seldom talk about? Race in WCW, DiBiase post-93, Perfect as Flair's "Executive Consultant" in 92, Teddy Long as manager of Doom, Bruce Pritchard as Brother Love, Lanny Poffo as The Genius, Harvey Wippleman, Paul E. Dangerously in WCW, Paul Ellering in general -- do any of these have a case to be considered "top 10"? Nevermind.

It effectively announces to the fans the Pro Bowl doesn't matter, does it? The players were banned from tweeting during regular season games but it's ok for the Pro Bowl.

Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..

I remember the Hirohito idea, but I thought the billed towns thing was due to Vince having another one of his quirks where he decided babyfaces wouldn't be billed from Canada anymore. I remember Edge being billed from Tampa briefly til his heel turn and he was back to being from Toronto. -
Won't these ladies be disappointed that they aren't riding Space Mountain? Flair has to give the fans his trademark spots!

The power was knocked out in most of the Northeast... probably a major contributor to lack of eyeballs on Raw...

The only thing I took away from the reviews Tomk posted is that he is a closet homosexual or at the very least fixated with that idea. Just awful reviews.

Technically, while they have not been full-on building up to the match (and really, they can't, otherwise the fans would get burnt out way before the match even happens), they have peppered in hints here and there to remind the fans, and the Rock is scheduled to show up in November, and who knows how often he'll be at the shows from that point on. I do want to know, Loss, why you think it's even remotely possible that the Rock will win? Is it because the show is in Miami?
-
Not that I disagree but two points to make to almost excuse the Cena booking: 1. The Rock was never this invincible or indestructible character that never lost. Cena doesn't need to be booked that strongly to make the match mean something. 2. The Rock is not a full time wrestler. No one, not even the most delusional of the Rock fans, is expecting any other outcome than John Cena either pinning or submitting the Rock. It's almost a wasted effort to book Cena strongly for one match (or a rumored three match series), when other members of the full time roster could use some strength by beating Cena. Of course the WWE botched that at every turn, so it doesn't matter.

Someone has to have sucked the least, though. As such, they should win, no? "Wrestler A is the Wrestler of the Year because, hey, he sucked the least" would be high praise, for sure.

Actually as the name implies, Fully Loaded was sold on the fact the card was "fully loaded", and they did sell the hell out of Angle/Taker, even if the build up was not as well thought out or as good as the Benoit/Rock or Jericho/HHH.

Not that I'm not digging the whole Looney Tunes deal or that I'm here to spoil the fun, but this thread is definitely running way off the track.

Let me get this straight... you mean to tell me a wrestler who was always pushed as a top wrestler and a touring champion had good matches with... good wrestlers? Who knew? All joking aside, I'd agree it's Flair by virtue of his push.

Honestly I find myself not going in most of the HOF/match reviews/wrestler threads, especially regarding older material, because I feel like there's not much new stuff being said about it. I don't really care for gossip but at the very least it pertains to the present landscape of wrestling, so I give these threads a check out. I suppose I enjoy the Best/Worst type of threads where most of it is opinions on people, styles and etc that I find interesting. The ones that really catch my eye is the backstage threads because PWO is pretty much the only forum that I attend relating to wrestling that doesn't have the general interest posters involved (like WC).

As crazy as it may sound, I almost see Dave being more torn between his fandom over Kurt and his connection to his family than he should be. Should be interesting to see.

Del Rio has been tabbed as something of a golden boy as far as heels go. I think he will win the belt in a legitimate scheduled match. Truth on the other hand, it fits his conspiracy crazed heel gimmick to be part of a mini conspiracy to achieve what he has been gunning all summer and some for. I can see Vince working out an agreement behind the scenes after he wins the MITB in the early portion of the show, and Punk beating Cena, only for Vince to trigger the Truth contract to prevent Punk from leaving with the belt. This might turn Punk babyface going out and a "Cena overcomes the odds" storyline the WWE loves to do.
-
That length also leads me to believe the MITB winner comes into play here as well, probably Truth, if he's in the ladder match, that is.

There was Yokozuna.

I thought HHH vs Angle at the 2001 Royal Rumble worked well, but of course that had involvement by the babyface Austin.

Quality contribution here At work here so I can't get into it further but I'll leave a post later breaking down my opinions of them and the teams they are being compared to. One team being forgotten is Los Gringos, interested to hear others' take on them before I post later.

I'm sorry, but it boggles my mind that this board is actually discussing the "greatness" of PG-13. What's next? A thread about how Public Enemies were a top ECW tag team? Seriously though, PG13 was a pretty ok team but nowhere the level that is being espoused here.

I know he takes pride in not knowing about anything that took place in the 80s, but has he never seen a Samoan in the WWF/E before? Hell, did he forget about Umaga already? The Usos are pretty similar looks-wise to their uncle's gimmick. I assume because they didn't really look like the prototypical Samoans. They were sort of skinny and one of them nearly crotched himself trying to climb the ropes. I don't have high hopes for these guys.

DDP debuted independently of the Invasion angle as well. He was Sara Undertaker's stalker to begin with. Now Booker's debut was pretty awesome, and if they had paired Austin with him as well as DDP, it'd have definitely worked, but only if Booker was destroying Jericho and Benoit instead in that match.
-
Actually the finish at Summerslam was Nick Patrick disqualifying AUSTIN (Alliance rep) for hitting referees, which enabled him to keep the belt. Not much of a difference, I know, but it isn't quite the "DQ the WWF wrestler" scenario laid out.
-
I think its more likely that Jericho doesn't want a set because he doesn't want to give the fans a reason to cheer him. Showcasing how awesome he was all these years would sort of counteract what he's trying to do nowadays as a heel, wouldn't it? Now before this heel run, no idea why they didn't produce a set.
-
Actually I might be alone but I'm actually enjoying Orton's babyface run currently. I know he doesn't look natural in being a babyface but the character is actually easy to cheer for. I mean, most babyfaces would refrain from being truly dastardly towards heels and even other babyfaces, but like Austin, Orton is willing to go to any measure to kick the heels' asses. Wouldn't the fans pop if Orton punted heel Punk or Jericho in the head?
