I'm tired of being as no-sold as Barry Horowitz and even he gets sold. Good forum but goodbye.

Watch them do a no contest 10 man run in finish, and Vince claims "Hey that's ECW!"

Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve
Slasher replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
That's funny. One of my friends is a writer there. He keeps trying to get me to go to 411. I never had the heart to tell him that his site is inferior to the other ones out there. -
Well now, I don't think the Boogeyman is all that bad. Yes he is a pretty abysmal worker, but as far as cartoony gimmicks go, he's done well so far.
-
Oh now don't get me wrong. SNME certainly had potential to sell us on WWE long-term, but they clearly used it as a forum to sell the audience that isn't watching Raw/SD (which apparently is nonexistent) on their upcoming PPV instead.
-
That explains all the shilling for Mania... that they were not selling us on Mania.
-
While I agree there could have been more wrestling, it was never really about wrestling. It was to advance angles towards a big PPV. Though if you were watching a tape of SNME, you'd have noticed two matches happened before the drinking contest...
-
According to some guy on TSM who provided a link to a site (Linkie here) SNME scored a 2.9 overnight rating. Not good at all.
-
Oh I know. But he is the most recent example. Besides I expected more of Rudo, but I guess he is no better than the rest. Anyways, I re-watched the show, it wasn't as good as I said it was yesterday, but you know, compared to what they put out on Mondays and Fridays, it had a big-time feel, and I think that kinda helped make it look better than it was really. Still if people enjoyed it, let them.
-
The problem is that they run SNME very infrequently apparently. The next one is in June. So SNME is not much of a help in that department. But I agree with how it should be utilized. I don't know why people expected more of it. It's WWE for god's sakes. I read Rudo's rant at TSM about how people who enjoyed the show was undeserving of an opinion, at least to him. I found that to be really stupid and lame. He preaches that the audience wants something that pops them, and guess what? While it didn't really work, the attitude stuff on SNME was designed to pop the audience. To make the people who might have not seen WWE for a while to go "Oh yeah I remember this kinda stuff!" and they either decide it's nostalgic, and they watch again OR they go "Oh they still do this?" and tune out. Since I know Rudo comes here sometimes, I'd like to tell him, to his face, right now, that he is hypocritical.

I have come back... well I have to say... I wasn't disappointed. I had low expectations going in, and while it had it's shitty moments, it was watchable. The opening promos seemed to flow superbly and it kind of introduced the "new" (I doubt there was much gain from the usual Raw) audience to the main characters of the lead in to Mania. I was surprised that they opened with the Raw ME vs SD ME, but I was entertained by the match at least for the angle advancement with HHH and Cena. Unfortunately I had commotion going on home during then so I missed the later portion, before catching Cena's reversal of the RKO. I liked the Booker T segment and thought it was a great way to build to the eventual match at Mania, and it really does build the Boogeyman up well as someone intimidating. The women's match was forgettable for the most part, though I recall it was alright. The turn was predictable, but like Coffey said, it was the best way to go. JBL was fun in his appearance, and Stone Cold was tolerable. The segment in general was ok, and it added a little fuel to the Benoit/JBL match. The Taker/Henry segment was pretty much just "there". The main event was what I expected it would be, a garbage brawl that was meant to advance the Vince/HBK feud and match at Mania. I do wonder how Bret Hart feels about it, hmm...

Coffey, you've sold me on the show. I'll watch when it comes on here. Don't disappoint me.
-
If you live in Detroit, then yeah you don't get SNME.
-
Nah I can't call anyone an idiot for enjoying something. I went overboard with that particular statement.
-
sek, good question. This is just something we're going to have to find out naturally. We don't know how it age until it actually ages.
-
Well I should amend the 4th point. If people find ECW entertaining and whatever TODAY, then all the power to them. I'm speaking in general. 4. ECW DOES NOT AGE WELL. ANYONE ARGUING TO THE CONTRARY EITHER REALLY LIKES ECW OR IS AN IDIOT. THAT IS ALL. Ok better.
-
Since it is becoming apparent that Loss has no idea what I meant in my post, thinking I was putting down ECW's impact, I will explain more in depth my view: 1. Today, in 2006, I sit down to watch an ECW show. It sucks today. This shows that it aged terribly. I'm not talking just in-ring quality, it's the production values, everything. ECW comes off looking like some indy fed that got blown up to national level just because... Heyman wanted to. 2. To compare that to someone complaining about 1970s AJPW not utilizing Canadian Destroyers... that is such a meaningless and irrevelant argument. I never said that ECW sucked because they lacked Canadian Destroyers or Styles Clashes or Best Moonsaults Ever. That's just digging in your debate bag so deep you end up grabbing lint. ECW sucks now because their workers don't look good, even for 1996 standards. We have the resources to be able to find a wider variety of wrestling stuff. We're able to find the best stuff of any period. I doubt there's going to be very many ECW matches on "Best of Pro Wrestling 1996" comps. Or any year for that matter. As a pure workrate fan, this stuff just doesn't hold up to me. At all. 3. Heyman is a genius. He has shown the ability to hide flaws. This is true. This is not what I'm arguing against. I'm arguing against the product in a whole, which consists mostly of.... WRESTLING. When the main draw of the promotion (the actual wrestling) doesn't hold up, why would the product? ECW in 1996 was a great place. ECW as seen in 2006, is not. Now as goodhelmet said, this is not true of other promotions. So why defend ECW so fiercely? 4. ECW DOES NOT AGE WELL. ANYONE ARGUING TO THE CONTRARY IS AN IDIOT. THAT IS ALL.
-
And in turn, produce stuff that doesn't age well.
-
It sucks that WWE does more touring when they're not doing well, and yet when they're hot, they seem to want to stay grounded in North America.

I wouldn't be a jackoff if you stop thinking in a mark mindset. And you seem to miss the entire point of my posts. I said MNM needs to be on the top NOW, but in no way did I say they would be on top forever. The Hardyz chasing E&C worked because they were seen on the same level (No Mercy Terri Invitational Ladder match anyone). Who is on MNM's level? Surely not Kendrick and London....yet.
-
Incorrect. The tag titles are being viewed as nothing more than a prop. Look at how they are handling Kane and Show's reign. If you based it around MNM, and they had a good run where they're made to look like a dominant team, then the face team that I said would be built up could beat them to become the new franchise team. Who said that I had to keep the focus on MNM forever? That was not the point. The point is at this time, MNM is the best team to base it around. Honestly I think Billy Kidman and Paul London had a better chance to break out than London and Kendrick.
-
I disregarded your post because you're sounding like a mark with the "WAHHHH I DONT WANT BADDIES TO WIN!" MNM also will likely draw more than London/Kendrick. If WWE found a tag team that could be good faces and that has a similar chemistry to MNM, then I'd name them. London and Kendrick isn't there yet. MNM is. So I would base it around them, while building up some strong face teams to be built around in the future. Why is it that Edge and Christian has more title reigns than the Hardyz? The Dudley Boyz got most of their tag titles as heels. Stop looking at things so narrowly. As Vince would say, "Look at the bigger picture".
-
Not to say London and Kendrick shouldn't be given a fair chance. They could be MNM's face foils, but they need to base it around MNM. They can talk better than London and Kendrick from what I've seen. They have a better look. They have a special tag team chemistry. If the WWE is basing the company around Triple H, then I don't see why they can't base the tag team division around a tag team that while heels, are still very entertaining and dare I say, likable.
-
MNM should be the franchise tag team. Not fucking 6th graders.
-
HHH probably will get tested to show the others what a company man he is. Then not so shockingly, he passes. And somewhere CM Punk would be counting his money.
