  1. I know I’m replying to a 12 year old comment but I absolutely love that comparison.
  2. Brody will absolutely not make top 100. I was just discussing this last night with a friend. I by no means hate Brody - his wild brawls are great and he’s usually a part of some really fun All Japan tags in the ‘80’s. And as strong as that stuff feels when you’re watching it in the moment, it’s really where the buck stops with his work. I find his solo work against some of the all time greats to be lifeless and dull. Within the last 72 hours, I watched the Flair and Inoki broadways and I would rather pulled every lash from my eye than watch those again. And because of those type of performances — and there are others, I find myself reexamining even some of the more fun All Japan tags I love, and I realize in every single one, even the ones with Snuka, Brody is the weak link. The matches would not get worse without him as much as they do not get better with him.
  3. I’ve only recently gotten into Brett’s work. Aside from the mostly known Portland matches against Buddy and Flair, I’d highly recommend his matches against Jake Roberts in Georgia. Their match at Last Battle of Atlanta is probably MOTN, and the follow up a week later on TBS is really strong as well. I don’t know if Brett makes my top 100, but I just wanted to put in a good word for the overlooked Sawyer brother, incase anyone was considering/curious about his work.
  4. If you asked me two years ago, maybe even last year, I dont think I would’ve considered Andre for my ballot. But just around this time two years ago, I watched the 1989 Royal Rumble. And Andre, while mostly immobile at that point, put on just a masterclass of working that night, doing most of it from the corner or while holding on to the ropes. It was the best “defensive Giant”, if you will, role I’ve ever seen in a battle royal. It really opened me up to further examining some of his work, and finally digging deeper into his work in Japan and elsewhere. Obviously, missing footage from what his apparent true prime may have been is a detriment, but I feel pretty safe filling in the blanks based on the things I’ve seen otherwise. I think at this point, with weeks to go, Andre’s a lock for somewhere towards the bottom of my 100.
  5. Thank you for this! I’ve been monitoring this thread off and on for a while. Finally got my answer.
