  1. Midnight Rider! Can't wait to see how this plays out.
  2. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , on ESPN / TSN , December 20th Dino Bravo vs. Doug Somers San Diego Battleground is just around the corner, and both of these men are heading towards a big clash for the AWA Pacific Tag Team titles. Both men came out with their partners, but were informed by the ref that, by Pacific Coast Wrestling orders, due to the high volatility of the upcoming big show, for this show only anyone not cleared to be at ringside would be barred under penalty of suspension. After some brief protest, Phil LaFleur and Buddy Rose returned to the locker room. Despite this attempt by the officials to keep this match under control, there was still plenty of chaos to be seen as Somers used every dirty trick he could fit in to get some damage done before the Tag Titles were on the line. The always resilient Bravo was still able to catch him in the side suplex for the victory, but the toughest battle still lay ahead at San Diego Battleground. Kendo Nagasaki vs. Super Strong Machine Since KY Wakamatsu is Kendo's official manager, he was allowed at ringside for this match and provided plentiful distraction for Super Strong Machine. KY's constant hectoring on his megaphone grated on the nerves of both Machine and the fans, but his face painted charge was laser focused, attacking Machine with precision kicks and chops. Machine fought back gamely, giving as good as he got, but Kendo was able to duck under a big roundhouse kick and take down the masked man with a nasty legsweep. He then caught Machine in a Scorpion Hold and forced him to give up. There will be nothing stopping him from being in the corner of Larry Zbyszko at San Diego Battleground, and the Hogan Brothers had best watch their backs. Billy Jack Haynes vs. Manny Fernandez The Crazy Gang might not have been in Pacific Coast for long, but they certainly wasted no time in starting a feud with Billy Jack, Texas Red and the newly arrived Ricky Steamboat. For tonight's show, it would be the aptly named "Ragin' Bull" Manny Fernandez who would square off with Pacific Coast favorite Billy Jack Haynes. It was everything Billy Jack could do to try to keep Fernandez contained, as the Ragin' Bull came at him with speed and fury. Billy Jack kept executing bigger and bigger moves on him to try and put him down, and Fernandez just kept tearing into him. Billy Jack was just barely able to keep his shoulders down for a three count after catching him off the ropes with a crushing powerslam, but even after that Fernandez wanted to keep going. The matchup at San Diego Battleground is set to be explosive. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. Al Perez With neither Jake Roberts nor the Brigade at ringside, Taylor would have to face head on the challenge of his former Brigade compatriot, Al Perez. Perez was clearly looking for payback for Taylor's betrayal of the group and kept his head in this match. Instead, he brought his considerable technical and submission expertise to bear on the champion, who was just barely able squeak out of several compromising situations. Perez looked like he might just be able to take the title when he had Taylor set up for a German Suplex, but Taylor countered with a backwards low kick. Perez had the move scouted , however, and blocked it then followed up with a single leg take down. Taylor then grabbed a hold of the ropes to block the take down and countered with a roll up of his own, assisted by a fistful of trunks and his feet on the robes. He was able to get the tainted victory, but he is likely to need more than that to withstand the challenge of Tom Zenk at San Diego Battleground. AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Buddy Roberts As the last defense before San Diego Battleground, Piper certainly had his hands full with Buddy "Jack" Roberts. He might not have had his Freebird brothers available to run interference for him, but Buddy still had a wealth of experience and a heaping dose of the crazies, and he certainly brought both into his challenge for the big belt. Piper is certainly no stranger to sanity optional wrestling himself, and the result was a very furious and chaotic match where both men took a lot of damage. It seemed like it might go to a draw when the two men were slugging it out on the outside, but Piper managed to hit a piledriver on the floor and just barely make it back into the ring in time to win by countout. Piper had clearly taken a lot of damage and you can imagine Terry Gordy licking his chops at the thought of taking advantage of the champ's weakened stage at San Diego Battleground.
  3. Hall and Michaels is an intriguing duo of the time , lots of potential for them as a team. Can't wait until the Masked Manager is revealed.
  4. AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Selland Arena, Fresno, December 15th The Assassins vs. Dan Spivey & Al Perez The Assassins gave a serious battering to the Brigade members, but Spivey manage to catch Assassin #1 off guard with an Axe Bomber to pull off the win Ragin' & Ravishing vs. The Hart Brothers Rude pinned Bruce after a Rude Awakening Ricky Steamboat vs. Mr. Hito An intense matchup where Steamboat ultimately was able to hit the Flying Crossbody to get the victory Larry Zbyszko vs. Chavo Guerrero Larry got the tainted victory after interference from Kendo Nagasaki AWA Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Mando & Hector Guerrero © vs. The Starr "Cousins" Mando caught Chicky in the German Suplex to successfully defend their titles "Doctor D" Dave Schultz vs. Gypsy Joe A knock down, drag out fight where Schultz ultimately prevailed after a piledriver Mike Rotunda & Tom Zenk vs. Jake Roberts & Terry Taylor Taylor was counted out after Zenk Superkicked him out of the ring
  5. AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, December 14th Dan Spivey & Al Perez vs. The Starr "Cousins" Perez caught Chicky in the German Suplex for the win Leo Burke & Gypsy Joe vs. The Royal Family Another brutal affair that ended when Rip Morgan flattened Burke with a lariat to pull off the victory Chavo Guerrero vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Chavo won with a top rope somersault Senton Keiichi Yamada vs. Masanobu Fuchi Yamada got the win with a flying reverse body block AWA Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Hector & Mando Guerrero © vs. The Assassins A tough match where the champs took a pounding but were able to pull out the victory when Hector caught Assassin #2 in the Guerrero Clutch Hulk Hogan vs. Kendo Nagasaki Hulk won by DQ after he was attacked by Larry Z and KY Wakamatsu. Eddie Hogan came in for the rescue, but ended up taking a beating from Kendo and his cohorts Roddy Piper & The Vachon Brothers vs. The Fabulous Freebirds Terry Gordy pinned the Butcher after a spike piledriver
  6. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, December 13th The Royal Family vs. Leo Burke & Gypsy Joe The competition in the Tag Ranks is reaching a fever pitch, with new teams joining the roster and hot challenges for both the Pacific and Golden State tag title. With all of this going on, these two veteran teams were certainly not about to let themselves be forgotten. The raw ferocity of the Royal Family was matched by the "hard as ten bears" toughness of Burke and Gypsy Joe, and the result was a brutal match with all four contestants being busted open at different points. Ultimately, it was Jonathan Boyd who was able to catch Gypsy Joe in the Royal Neckbreaker to get the win for his team, but both teams clearly made the statement that overlooking them would be a very dangerous mistake for any other team. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. Anthony Robinson Last week, Ricky Steamboat's appearance last week as a replacement for Texas Red shocked the whole of Pacific Coast Wrestling. This week, "The Dragon" had the spotlight to himself and put on a clinic in high finesse wrestling as he easily dealt with young Robinson. The fans cheered and swooned with every move that Steamboat used, each delivered with textbook precision before hitting the top rope flying cross body press to score the pinfall. The arrival of Steamboat is a game changer for Pacific Coast, that is for sure. Hiro Saito vs. Ron Starr Both of these men will be involved in the Four Corners match to determine the first Pacific Light Heavyweight Champion. This match wound up being a bit of a switch. The normally technically inclined Saito went all out against Starr , with blistering chops and kicks along with several nasty blindsides snuck in. Starr, on the other hand, no stranger to dirty tactics himself, instead chose to show off his considerable scientific skills, pulling off some incredible counters when it seemed like Saito had him dead to rights. Both men were still going at it full bore when the bell rang, signaling a 10 minute time limit draw. If this is a sign of things to come, the match at San Diego Battleground will be truly epic. Buddy Roberts vs. Tom Zenk The Freebirds have been creating chaos all over the Pacific Coast since their arrival , and Buddy "Jack" Roberts has been perhaps their most chaotic element. Tom Zenk, on the other hand, has been on an impressive streak of late, getting a series of wins as he gears up to face Terry Taylor for the Television Title. None of this seemed to impress Roberts, who told his Freebird brothers Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy to head back to the locker room, he was going to have some fun by himself as he destroyed Zenk. A bit premature, as it turns out, as Zenk was able to keep one step ahead of Buddy Jack and get the better of a number of exchanges. A visibly frustrated Roberts swiftly headed straight to the gutter with some nasty cheap shots, but this only seemed to inspire Zenk to come back harder. Roberts tried to steal some time to regroup with a vicious eyerake, followed by tossing Zenk over the top rope and out of the ring. He should have paid closer attention, as Zenk caught himself on the top rope and pull himself to the apron. He then dashed to top turnbuckle and surprised Roberts with a missile dropkick before going for the cover. One … two … THREE!!! Zenk seemed just as surprised that he had managed to pull off the biggest upset of his Pacific Coast career. The other members of the Brigade charged out to the ring , both to congratulate him and to form a line of defense against the other members of the Freebirds who were out soon after. The Freebirds decided not to risk going against superior numbers, but clearly were not happy with the results. Zenk's momentum keeps building as he heads into his showdown with Taylor. Eddie Hogan vs. Kendo Nagasaki Unlike the gang mentality shown by the Freebirds , the Crazy Gang and the Buddy Rose Army, Eddie Hogan seems very keen to prove his own merits outside the shadow of his more famous big brother . To that end, he came out alone to face his nemesis, Kendo Nagasaki. A big risk, given that Kendo had both Larry Zbyszko and KY Wakamatsu at ringside, but Eddie was quite determined to go it alone. Both of Kendo's cohorts provided frequent distraction for Eddie, and he took a lot of damage from Kendo's martial arts offense, but he kept battling back. The climatic moment came when Wakamatsu had the ref distracted while Larry came in with the megaphone. He was interrupted by a big kick by Eddie, who immediately locked him up in a Sleeper hold. Larry struggled in vain to escape, but then Kendo blasted Eddie in the face with the green mist. Eddie immediately released the sleeper, rubbing at his eyes in agony, and one spin kick to the jaw later and Kendo had scored the dirty victory. Eddie Hogan's heart seems to be in the right place but he just keeps getting overwhelmed by Kendo and his dastardly crew.
  7. The lineup has been announced for San Diego Battleground, taking place at the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego on December 31st , 1984 The Royal Family vs. The Hart Brothers Four Corners Match for the new Pacific Coast Light Heavyweight Title : Keiichi Yamada vs. Hiro Saito vs. Ron Starr vs. Chicky Starr Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Hector & Mando Guerrero (c) vs. Mister Hito & Masanobu Fuchi Billy Jack Haynes, Texas Red & Ricky Steamboat vs. The Crazy Gang ( Ragin' & Ravishing and "Dr. D" Dave Schultz) Pacific Coast Coast Television Title Match : Terry Taylor (c) vs. Tom Zenk Butcher Vachon's Retirement Match : The Vachon Brothers vs. The Assassins Pacific Coast Tag Team Title Match : The French Revolution (c) vs. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers No DQ Match : Hulk Hogan vs. Larry Zbyszko Pacific Coast Heavyweight Title Match : "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (c) vs. Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy
  8. AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Portland Memorial Coliseum , Portland , December 7th Tom Zenk vs. Ron Starr A tightly contested match where Zenk ultimately caught Starr with the Superkick for the victory Ragin' & Ravishing vs. The Vachon Brothers Rude pinned the Butcher after executing an over the shoulder neckbreaker Ricky Steamboat vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Steamboat won with a Top Rope Flying Cross Body Press Buddy Rose & Doug Somers vs. Leo Burke & Gypsy Joe A tense battle where all four men were busted open and Rose was just barely able to put down Gypsy Joe after a running splash AWA Golden State Tag Team Title 2/3 Falls Match : Hector & Mando Guerrero © vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi 1st Fall : Fuchi made Mando submit to the STF 2nd Fall : Hector pinned Hito with the Guerrero Clutch 3rd Fall : The time ran out, ending in a 45 minute Time Limit Draw. The Guerreros retained their titles. AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Michael Hayes Piper won by DQ when he was attacked by Buddy Roberts and Terry Gordy. The Freebirds beat down Piper until the Vachon Brothers ran into the ring.
  9. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , December 6th Dave Schultz vs. Gary Stritesky After his shocking attack on Billy Jack Haynes and Texas Red last week, "Doctor D" makes his official in-ring Pacific Coast debut against the rookie Stritesky. He came out accompanied by Ragin' & Ravishing, and word has it that the trio have been calling themselves the Crazy Gang. Certainly a fitting name for Schultz as he pretty much destroyed Stritesky, all while Fernandez and Rude laughed at ringside. He even seemed to be mocking Texas Red by using one of his own finishers, the flying elbow drop, to take out Striteski. Billy Jack and Red may have run off the Marauders, but it looks like they have gone from the frying pan straight into the fire. Mike Rotunda vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Continuing their return to keeping a close eye on each other's backs, the members of the Brigade came out in force for this match. Tom Zenk, Al Perez and Dan Spivey stayed at ringside, cheering on their Captain while still warily scouting the arena for any potential interference. Timothy Flowers put up a tough fight but in the end, it was Rotunda who prevailed by getting the pinfall after a leaping clothesline. In spite of their recent setback, it looks like the Brigade are determined to show that they are just as strong as ever. Keiichi Yamada & Hiro Saito vs. The Starr "Cousins" These two teams have been dueling with each other for some time, with the Japanese team scoring most of the wins but the Starrs always a threat to take the victory at any time. This time out, things seemed a bit more intense, with the "Cousins" really taking it to their opponents and Yamada and Saito ferociously battling back. It seemed like the Japanese team would prevail once again when Saito had Ron lined up for the top rope flying senton, but Chicky snuck up behind him and shoved him off the top turnbuckle. Ron Starr then hit a swift vertical suplex to put Saito away for the stolen victory. After the match, it was announced that the upcoming San Diego Battleground show would include a 4 corners match for the new Pacific Coast Light Heavyweight Title : Keiichi Yamada vs. Hiro Saito vs. Ron Starr vs. Chicky Starr . The heat between these two teams is set to go nuclear in that match. Mad Dog Vachon vs. Ed Wiskowski The Vachon Brothers have seen their fortunes take a bit of a downturn of late, with some tough losses. This has been cast in perspective with the recent announcement that Butcher Vachon would be retiring at the end of the year. With Mad Dog looking at a return to solo action, he certainly isn't taking the easy route, instead choosing a fight with the huge and vicious "Polish Prince". Wiskowski didn't seem to have much regard for Vachon, towering over him and shoving him dismissively several times. Vachon certainly wasn't about to take that lying down, and kept firing back with vicious punches and elbow shots. There wasn't a lot of finesse in this match, just down and dirty brawling that ended up spilling to the outside and resulting in both men being counted out. It took pretty much the entire security crew to separate the two afterwards. It seems like there is still a lot of bit left in the old dog, and one would overlook him at their own peril. Ragin' & Ravishing vs. Billy Jack Haynes & Texas Red This was supposed to be a rematch from their match of last week where Red and Billy Jack were attacked by Dave Schultz, but when Red limped out with heavily bandaged ribs, it was clear that the match was not going to take place as originally planned. Rude, Fernandez and Schultz loudly mocked Red and made crying gestures when Billy Jack got on the mic and announced that Red has suffered badly bruised ribs and had not gotten medical clearance for the match. But there mockery turned to anger when Billy Jack continued by saying he had been able to find just the right substitute for this match … RICKY STEAMBOAT!!!! The resulting fury from Ragin' & Ravishing was topped by the cheers of the fans as the popular Hawaiian, making his Pacific Coast debut, came out to the ring. Ragin' & Ravishing immediately went after Steamboat, but he swiftly dodged their attacks and retaliated with blistering chops to the chest. This opened up a crazy match with both teams going at it full throttle. The match pretty much broke down when Schultz went after the injured Red at the ringside corner of his partners. Billy Jack came over to bail out his friend, which brought over Rude and Fernandez. This inspired Steamboat to come off the top rope to the floor with a flying cross body that knocked everyone over. Steamboat was just barely able to beat the count into the ring, just ahead of Fernandez, and got the countout win for his team, but they all continued to go after each other. It was then announced that Steamboat, Billy Jack Haynes and Texas Red would face Ragin' & Ravishing and Dave Schultz on New Year's Eve in a Six Man Tag match at San Diego Battleground.
  10. AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, November 30th Ragin' & Ravishing vs. The Hart Brothers Fernandez hit the Flying Burrito on Keith for the win The Guerrero Brothers vs. Kendo Nagasaki, Mr. Hito and Masanobu Fuchi Kendo pinned Chavo after a thrust kick to the jaw Gypsy Joe vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Gypsy Joe won with a flying senton Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy vs. The Vachon Brothers Gordy was able to get Butcher up in a piledriver to score the victory AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. Leo Burke Taylor broke out of a Sleeper attempt with a nasty eyerake and followed up with a Fivearm to defend his belt AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The French Revolution © vs. The Assassins Lafleur caught Assassin #1 in a reverse cross body press and kept his shoulders to the mat for the one two three AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Buddy Roberts A crazy match where Piper was able to pin Roberts after a piledriver. After the match, the rest of the Freebirds attacked Piper.
  11. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , November 29th Tom Zenk vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Since his return to action, Zenk has been gunning hard for a shot at his former partner Terry Taylor's TV title. Former champion Flowers, on the other hand, has been on a downward spiral since he was ousted by Jake Roberts. Flowers was certainly looking to halt his decline in this match and really took it to Zenk, battering him in the corners and sneaking in a lot of cheap shots. He seemed to be making some progress when he whipped Zenk into the ropes and came back with a clothesline, but Zenk ducked him and returned fire with a lightning quick Superkick that got the one two three. Looks like Flowers just can't catch a break, no matter what. Terry Taylor & Jake Roberts vs. The Hart Brothers Speaking of Terry Taylor, it looks like Jake "The Snake" Roberts has taken him under his villainous wing (scales?) The result was the full spectrum of unsettling smiles, with Taylor's blank eyed smarminess contrasting with Roberts creepy leering. The Hart Brothers showed their trademark smooth teamwork and technical expertise, but Taylor seemed to be readily embracing Roberts' lessons in the darker path, and when Roberts set up Keith with a nasty blindside kneelift , Taylor swiftly followed up with a Fivearm to get the win. Taylor looks to become even more difficult to unseat as TV champ under Roberts' mentorship. Dan Spivey & Al Perez vs. The Starr "Cousins" After the twin blows of having Terry Taylor turn on them and the brutal beating at the hands of the Freebirds, the remaining members of the Brigade are clearly looking to close ranks. Mike Rotunda has taken on the role of "captain" to his colleagues and was at ringside to support Spivey and Perez against the always devious Starrs. Ron and Chicky pulled out plenty of underhanded moves from their bag of tricks, but Rotunda helped keep his friends focused and eventually the power of Spivey and technical skills of Perez prevailed, with Spivey hoisting Chicky over his shoulder and Perez coming off the top rope with an elbowsmash, a devastating double team that brought them the victory. The Brigade may have taken some shots, but they are clearly determined to come back strong. Eddie Hogan vs. Larry Zbyszko Hulk Hogan's kid brother has eagerly gotten himself involved in the ongoing issue with Larry Z and swiftly got himself a match with the man himself. Eddie's eagerness quickly bought him a lot of trouble as, despite Hulkster's presence at ringside trying him to calm him down , the younger Hogan kept finding himself drawn into various tricks and traps by Larry Z, only getting out due to his considerable power and energy. When KY Wakamatsu looked to bring his megaphone into play, Hulk rushed over to cut him off, but this also turned out to be a trap, as Kendo Nagasaki suddenly appeared in the ring and blasted Eddie in the face with the green mist. One thrust kick to the jaw later and Eddie was easy pickings for Larry, who rolled him up for the three count. It looks like Eddie Hogan might need to learn to walk before he runs if he wants to be of any help to his big brother. Billy Jack Haynes & Texas Red vs. Ragin' & Ravishing Having finally settled the score with the Marauders last time out, Billy Jack and Texas Red find themselves facing a team making their Pacific Coast debut. "Ravishing" Rick Rude is a muscular young man who brings with him equal parts aggression and arrogance. "Ragin' Bull" Manny Fernandez , on the other hand, is a more established wrestler with a distinct wild side. The two together made for a potent combination, and Billy Jack and Red certainly had their hands full trying to keep them contained. It looked like Red might just get the better of them when he had Rude lined up for his big flying elbow drop, when somebody came out of nowhere and shoved him hard off the turnbuckle, sending him crashing to the mat. It was "Doctor D" Dave Schultz! Schultz, wielding an axe handle, charged into the ring and went to work on Red while Ragin' & Ravishing dogpiled on Billy Jack. Schultz got in a couple of good shots on Red's still damaged leg but focused most of his attention on his ribs before Billy Jack broke through and rescued his partner. Red was clearly in bad shape as he hobbled to the back. The ref declared that Ragin' & Ravishing had lost by DQ, but you would have thought they had won by the way they and Schultz congratulated each other and cackled. They might have lost the match, but they certainly debuted with a lot of impact.

Love the recap, helps get caught up on the current angles. Can't wait to see who Lawler's partner is!
  13. AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles, October 26th Al Perez vs. Doug Somers Perez made Somers give up to a short arm scissors Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts vs. The Hart Brothers Gordy pinned Bruce after a piledriver Leo Burke & Gypsy Joe vs. The Assassins A wild brawl that ended when Gypsy hit the flying senton on Assassin #2 AWA Pacific Television Title : Terry Taylor © vs. Super Strong Machine Taylor dodged a spinning kick, then hit a legsweep followed by a double leg cradle to defend his title AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The French Revolution © vs. The Starr "Cousins" A very hotly contended match where the Revolution were finally able to hit the Guillotine (combination flying legdrop / side suplex) on Chicky to pull out the win Hulk Hogan & Eddie Hogan vs. Larry Zbyszko & Kendo Nagasaki Kendo pinned Eddie after hitting him with the megaphone AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Buddy Rose Rose got Piper in a small package assisted by a fistful of trunks, but Piper grabbed Rose's trunks and reversed it to get the one two three
  14. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Olympic Auditorium , Los Angeles , October 25th Rip Morgan vs. Butcher Vachon The tag team rankings have been heating up of late, and both the Royal Family and the Vachon Brothers have been fighting hard to claim a title shot for themselves. This time out, they would be facing off in singles action, with the veteran Butcher meeting the powerful Rip Morgan. Needless to say, this was a wild and brutal match, with Vachon withstanding a hurricane of offense from the big New Zealander and dishing out plenty of damage on his own. In the end, however, Morgan was able to wear him down enough to line him up for a flying lariat and finally get the hard fought victory. The Fabulous Freebirds vs. Mike Rotunda, Dan Spivey & Al Perez When the Freebirds started their Pacific Coast roaring rampage, the Brigade were their first victims. Having recently made their return, the younger men were looking to get some payback. The Freebirds certainly weren't about to go easy on them, but the Brigade got the better of a number of exchanges, with Perez showing his technical expertise to keep a lid on the crazy Buddy Jack , and Rotunda and Spivey knocking Hayes around with some big double team power moves. But in the end, it was classic Freebird mind games, drawing in the Brigade and forcing the ref to send Rotunda and Perez back to their corner while they got their own triple team spike piledriver on Spivey. The Freebirds streak keeps going, but the Brigade remains hot on their tails. The Marauders vs. Billy Jack Haynes & Texas Red Last week, the Marauders did some damage on Texas Red's leg with a nasty sneak attack. This time out, they were looking to capitalize on that and kept going after his injured leg. They kept working him over, focusing on the leg and keeping Billy Jack from coming in to the rescue. It was starting to look like they were finally going to destroy the until now unstoppable rookie when something seemed to go off in Red and he gave them a blank, terrifying stare. He grabbed Slater by the throat and started throttling him. Borne rushed in, but Red simply grabbed him by the throat with his other hand and started choking both of them. For all they flailed at him, the Marauders could not break free of his tight double give. Eventually, Red drove Slater hard into the corner turnbuckle, then nailed Borne with the Heart Punch. He then grabbed Slater and gave him the Heart Punch for good measure before covering him for the pin. Texas Red was shuddering as he made his way to his feet, and Billy Jack helped him out of the ring, clearly concerned for his partner. Hulk Hogan & Eddie Hogan vs. Larry Zbyzko & Kendo Nagasaki It's been a few weeks since Eddie Hogan declared his intention to help his brother against Larry Z and Kendo. This would be his first chance to do so in a tag match and it frequently seemed like his enthusiasm and desire to help out was a conspicuous detriment. He kept rushing into the ring and having to be escorted out by the ref, allowing Larry and Kendo to double team the Hulkster. Otherwise, he would stay in the ring so long, looking to prove himself, that he made it difficult for his big brother to help him. The match wound up breaking down to all four men in the ring at once, and KY Wakamatsu threw in his megaphone to Larry, only for it to be intercepted by Eddie. So far so good, but Eddie then clobbered Larry with the megaphone right in front of the ref , giving the match to Larry and Kendo by DQ. Eddie protested this, but Hulk got him to calm down. The Hulkster if will need to calm down his rambunctious younger brother a lot more if they are going to win out over Wakamatsu's men. AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Ed Wiskowski These two have been going at it ever since shortly after Piper won the big belt, and this would be their highest profile match yet. "Playboy" Buddy Rose was at ringside, supporting his stablemate and shouting insults at Piper. Piper couldn't be bothered with Rose since he had his hands full with the powerful "Polish Prince". Wiskowski inflicted more damage than anyone else Piper had faced, rocking him with brutal punches and dropping him on his head with huge slams. Piper kept sniping away at Wiskowski, trying to chip through his defenses and find a weakness, but it seemed like time was running out for the Hot Scot. The balance tipped when Buddy Rose jumped up on the ring apron to sneak a shot in on Piper while Wiskowski had him in a headlock, but Piper kicked off on Rose and sent him tumbling to the floor, then used the momentum to roll up Wiskowski and just barely get the one two three. Piper was still the champion, but he didn't get time to celebrate as a commotion broke out at the back of the arena. The spotlight came on it, and there stood the Fabulous Freebirds! Remembering their recent actions, Rose started waving his hands around, showing that he was not wearing the last of the Big Gold Rings, but Hayes shook his head, indicating he had no interest in the "Playboy". Instead he pointed at Piper, then pointed at Terry Gordy. The Freebirds were making a challenge for the Heavyweight Title! Piper was so exhausted, he could barely acknowledge the challenge, but Gordy looked like he was going after him, only to be held back by Hayes, who slapped Gordy's chest and laughed menacingly. It looks like Hot Rod has just gone from the frying pan to the fire.
  15. AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Oakland Alameda County Arena, Oakland, October 19th Hector Guerrero vs. Mr. Hito Hito won with a backdrop driver Tom Zenk vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Zenk knocked out Flowers with a Superkick The Assassins vs. The Hart Brothers Assassin # 2 pinned Keith with a running splash Mando Guerrero vs. Masanobu Fuchi Mando scored the pinfall with a German Suplex Jake Roberts vs. Super Strong Machine Roberts executed the DDT to get the victory AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The French Revolution © vs. The Royal Family A wild and hard hitting match that looked like it could have gone either way but ultimately Dino Bravo was able to catch Boyd in the Side Suplex to successfully defend their titles AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. Al Perez Taylor won by countout when Jake Roberts ambushed Perez at ringside and put him down with the DDT AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Matt Borne A very tough defense for Piper but a successful one as he was able to put out Borne with the Sleeper Hold
  16. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Cow Palace , San Francisco , on ESPN / TSN, October 18th Eddie Hogan vs. Nick Stanbury After making his first Pacific Coast appearance last week, this was the first televised opportunity to see Eddie Hogan in the ring. While his big brother was there at ringside cheering him on, Hulk Hogan still seemed somewhat apprehensive watching him in the ring. Nevertheless, Eddie easily dominated the rookie Stansbury with a series of impressive power moves before polishing him off with a running high knee. Good enough for this match, but we will see how well this works against the veteran cunning of Larry Z and Kendo. Tom Zenk & Al Perez vs. The Starr "Cousins" The members of the Brigade have been largely absent from Showcase for the past few weeks, ever since being attacked by the Fabulous Freebirds, but two of the younger members make their return against the always devious Starrs. Zenk and Perez took a bit of time to get back in synch, but when they did, they got the fans into the match with their swift double teams and impressive moves. There was an interruption when Terry Taylor, sporting his TV Title belt and usual soulless grin, showed up at ringside to observe. Tom Zenk didn't let that distract him as he took Chicky Starr out with a top rope missile dropkick to bring the win to his team, but clearly a showdown between him and Taylor is coming sooner or later. The Fabulous Freebirds vs. JP Calderon, Anh-tuan Bui & Brad Virata Most of the Freebirds appearances thus far on Showcase have been from ambush, but here the TV viewers would get their first chance to see them in a regular match, and they certainly lived up to their fearsome reputation. Roberts easily outclassed his rookie opposition in the ring, Hayes proved equally adept at riling up both the fans and the opposing wrestlers, and Gordy was simply a wrecking ball, demolishing any wrestler who got in his way. It was Gordy who got the victory, dropping Bui on his head with a huge piledriver before he forced him to give up to the Asiatic Spike. The Freebirds have been causing chaos with their sneak attacks, but are clearly just as dangerous, if not more so, when faced head on. AWA Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Hector & Mando Guerrero © vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi These two teams recently faced off in a house show match and once again clashed for the Golden State Tag Titles on Showcase. Just like last time, it was a tight and hotly contested match, with the hard striking and Japanese strong style of Hito and Fuchi providing a formidable challenge for the high flying and technical expertise of the Guerreros. Also like last time, this match would end in a draw, in this case a double count out when the action spilled to the outside. We definitely have not seen the last of this pairing. Dick Slater vs. Texas Red The feud between The Marauders and Texas Red and Billy Jack Haynes rolls on into this bout. Red seemed determined to show that, although he now had the support of the fans, he had lost none of his edge. He came at Slater with a ferocity that seemed to catch "Dirty" Dick off guard, and no matter what Slater tried, he couldn't seem to make a dent in the big Texan. Red looked set to take the victory when he had Slater set up for his devastating Heart Punch, but Matt Borne charged into the ring just in time to take Red down by clipping his leg from behind. The two Marauders worked over his leg as the ref called for the DQ until Billy Jack rushed in and ran them off. Billy Jack helped his partner from the ring, but Red was very clearly limping as he did so.

  18. I have been waiting literally years to run some variation of the Eddie Hogan angle.
  19. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Portland Sports Arena, Portland , on ESPN / TSN , October 11th The Hart Brothers vs. The Royal Family The team of Jonathan Boyd and Rip Morgan has been on a bit of a tear since arriving in Pacific Coast, leaving a trail of battered and bruised opponents regardless of whether they won or lost the match. The Hart Brothers certainly put in a game effort against the Royal Family, using their speed and teamwork to try to keep the Antipodean brawlers off balance. In the end, they fell short when Bruce went for a cross body block on Morgan, only to be caught and have it turned into a powerslam to give the win to the Royals. Things took a strange turn when the Royal Family were returning to the locker room, only to have their way blocked by the Fabulous Freebirds, sporting their usual evil grins. At first, it seemed like it might be a repeat of the beatdowns of the past few weeks, but Boyd simply looked over at Morgan, shrugged, and tossed his gold ring to Michael Hayes, who passed it over to Terry Gordy before letting the Royal Family go on their way. Strange business, but now the Freebirds have 3 of the 4 gold rings. Dino Bravo vs. Doug Somers Doug Somers and Buddy Rose have been waging a concerted campaign to get the AWA Pacific Tag Titles from the French Revolution, but have thus far been unsuccessful. The Army still have not let up, and throughout this singles match was the constant threat that Somers and Bravo's respective partners might make an appearance for interference. That didn't take place, but Somers and Bravo still put on a hard hitting bout that ended when Bravo was finally able to execute the side suplex on Somers. Something tells me that the Army still won't let up until they get what they want. The Assassins vs. Sekou Bunch & Billy Garcia The Assassins were last seen a couple of weeks ago dealing with their manager, JR Foley, having been assaulted by the Freebirds. Well, it looks like that will be the last we see of Foley, as the Assassins are now being managed by none other than Sheikh Adnan Al Kaissie. The Sheikh seems to be encouraging the masked men's considerable vicious streak, as they whalloped Bunch and Garcia from pillar to post before Assassin #1 forced Bunch to give up to the Assassin Lock. He even held him up long after the end of the match, with Bunch screaming to be let go, before dropping the rookie hard to the match. With all of the changes going on in Pacific Coast, the arrival of the Sheikh adds a dangerous new element to the mix. Interview : Frank Bonnema stands in the ring Bonnema : Ladies and gentlemen, my guest this week recently lost and extremely controversial decision to Larry Zbyszko … former AWA World Champion, Hulk Hogan! The crowd explodes in cheers as "Eye Of The Tiger" plays over the arena PA and the Hulkster heads to the ring. While he does take time to high five the fans on his way, he has an extremely somber look on his face. Bonnema : Hulk Hogan, I can only imagine how upset you are right now, having lost to Larry Zbyzko due to the interference of the man we now know to be Kendo Nagasaki. Hogan : Well , y'know, Big Frank, I should have expected it. I ran the big Barbarian out of town, but there was no way Larry Z was going to face me on his own. I should have known that coward was going to run for help, but I sure wasn't expecting Kendo. Bonnema : Which raises the question, Hulk Hogan, how are you going to deal with being outnumbered? Not only do you have to deal with Larry and his manager, KY Wakamatsu, but Kendo Nagasaki can clearly strike at you from out of nowhere at any time. Hogan : It's not going to be easy, Big Frank. But the Hulkster has never been afraid of numbers. And if I have to be the one to watch my own back, well then … Hogan is cut off as, out of nowhere, "Eye Of The Tiger" once again plays over the arena PA. A tall, muscular blonde man heads out to the ring. He also high fives the fans, but they clearly have no idea who he is or what is going on. Hogan at first looks confused, then annoyed as the stranger enters the ring. Stranger : Hey hey, Hulkster, have no fear, your brother, Eddie Hogan, has come to the rescue! Hulk : * in a very low, almost threatening tone * Hello, Eddie. Eddie : All is good, my brother ! I heard what happened and it just wasn't right. Nobody should have to stand alone, and since blood is thicker than water, I just knew I had to be the one to watch your back. Wherever you go, I'll go, and you won't have to worry about Larry the Loser's band of goons jumping you from behind. It's the least I can do. Hulk : *at first shaking his head, then composing himself * Y'know, I can work with that. Larry, you don't know what kind of trouble you are in. So bring on your Japanese hit man. Eddie and I are more than a match for you. And what'cha gonna do when the Hogan Family runs wild on you? The two Hogans pose in the ring to the cheers of the fans, although Hulk continued to look annoyed when Eddie got too close to him. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. Hiro Saito Terry Taylor continues his run as TV champ by taking on another Japanese star, in this case Hiro Saito. Saito clearly had no patience or time for Taylor's usual shenanigans, coming at the champion with an aggression that Taylor had not yet faced in his time with the title. Showing the cunning that has been the trademark of his title reign, Taylor was able to keep from being overwhelmed by Saito, dodging his high flying moves and rolling out of his attempted submission hold. He was ultimately able to block an attempt at a gutwrench suplex, and then counter with a rollup that was assisted by a fistful of tights to again keep a hold on his title belt. Business as usual, then, for Taylor, until suddenly there was a commotion at ringside. Taylor reacted first with shock, then outrage when he saw that Tom Zenk was standing outside the ring, staring daggers at him. Taylor's former partner had not been seen since he had left him to be beaten by the Royal Family, and he certainly wasn't pleased to see his return. Taylor loudly insisted that Zenk be sent away from the ring, but Zenk simply continued staring at him before leaving on his own accord. Can a title shot be far behind?
  20. AWA Pacific Wrestling show from the Victoria Memorial Arena, Victoria, October 5th Al Perez vs. "Diamond" Timothy Flowers Perez won with a German Suplex Larry Zbyszko & ?? ?? vs. The Hart Brothers Larry's partner turned out to be the same mystery man who attacked Hulk Hogan … Kendo Nagasaki! AWA Golden State Tag Team Title Match : Mando & Hector Guerrero © vs. Mr. Hito & Masanobu Fuchi A very exciting bout that saw Hector ultimately take down Hito with a Butterfly Suplex Terry Gordy vs. Dan Spivey A battle of big men that ended when Gordy hit a piledriver on Spivey Matt Borne vs. Billy Jack Haynes Haynes won by DQ when he had Borne trapped in the Full Nelson but was attacked by Dick Slater AWA Pacific Tag Team Title Match : The French Revolution © vs. The Starr "Cousins" A very tightly contested match that ended when the Revolution executed the Guillotine (combination side suplex by Bravo and flying legdrop by LaFleur) on Chicky Starr AWA Pacific Heavyweight Title Match : Roddy Piper © vs. Ed Wiskowski Wiskowski had Piper on the outside and lined up for a lariat against the corner post, but Piper ducked at the last second and Wiskowski hit his arm on the corner post. 21. Pacific Wrestling Showcase from the Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, on ESPN / TSN , October 4th Leo Burke, Gypsy Joe & The Hart Brothers vs. Jake Roberts, "Diamond" Timothy Flowers & The Starr "Cousins" Timothy Flowers just hasn't had any good luck of late, and that downward trend certainly continued in this match. Burke, Gypsy and the Harts were all over him throughout the match, with Flowers unable to make the tag to get some respite. Jake Roberts was giving him a disgusted look during the course of the match, eventually giving the Starr's orders to make no effort to tag in. Flowers eventually went down to a nasty running uppercut from Gypsy Joe that meant the end of the match. Roberts came in the ring right afterwards and helped up Flowers, only to take him down again with a DDT. Evidently the Diamond Starr Corporation are done, as the only response from his now former partners was a look of contempt from Ron Starr and snickering from Chicky. But the humiliation was not done for Flowers, as the moment Roberts and the Starrs left the ring, the Fabulous Freebirds rushed the ring and plucked the big gold ring from his hand. After Michael Hayes put the ring on his own finger, the three Freebirds viciously put the boots to Flowers until security cleared them out. In the end, poor Flowers ended up being taken out of the ring on a stretcher. AWA Pacific Television Title Match : Terry Taylor © vs. Super Strong Machine For all of his questionable tactics, Terry Taylor has been ducking no challengers as TV Champion. His latest challenge would be the always tough Japanese superstar, Super Strong Machine. Machine clearly had no time for Taylor's shenanigans as he was all business , going right after Taylor with blistering chops and jarring kicks. Taylor was on the defensive early but took the low road to get back the advantage, going after Machine's mask by tearing and pulling at it to distract him. This ultimately enraged Machine, who started going after Taylor full bore, but this wound up playing into Taylor's hands. Taylor lured him into a vicious knee shot to the midsection, which set up Machine for a Fivearm and the wrong side of the referee's count. Say what you will for Taylor's change of methods, but they have certainly gotten results. Texas Red vs. Dick Slater The feud between the Marauders and the tandem of Billy Jack Haynes and Texas Red just keeps rolling on in this singles match. Both men had their partners in their corner but seemed laser focused on each other. Slater seems to be one of the few wrestlers not intimidated by Red, as he went after the towering Texan with both guns blazing. Red fought back with equal intensity and the battle went back and forth. It looked like Slater just might pull it off until Red sent him down hard to the mat with a flying lariat. He then dragged up Slater to get him ready for his dreaded Heart Punch, only to be clipped from behind by Matt Borne. The ref called for the DQ and the Marauders worked over Red's leg until Haynes dashed into the ring to run them off. Billy Jack helped Red up, but the Texan was clearly limping as he returned to the locker room. The Vachon Brothers vs. The Royal Family The Vachons are coming off their brutal feud with the Assassins, and the nasty Antipodean duo of Boyd and Morgan were clearly not going to let the brothers catch their breath in this match. Both sides went at it fast and furious, with the match threatening to break down into complete chaos several times. Things finally fell apart when the ref tried to get in between Mad Dog and Rip Morgan and getting slugged by both men for his troubles. Despite the double DQ finish, both sides wanted to keep going. Looks like the Vachons might have gone straight from the frying pan to the fire and , strangely enough, they seem to like it that way. Hulk Hogan vs. Larry Zbyszko After spending the last while taking pot shots at Hogan while hiding behind Nord The Barbarian, Larry Z would have no such safety net this time out. With Nord sent packing last week, Larry would have to face the Hulkster all by himself. While he did have his manager KY Wakamatsu in his corner, Larry was clearly quaking in his boots when Hogan came out. He did everything he could to put off locking up with him, but Hogan finally caught with him and started tossing him around the ring. Larry kept trying to come back with short cut moves but Hogan would not be held off by that for long. Larry finally caught a lucky break when he ducked under an Axe Bomber which hit the ref. He tried to take advantage of this, but a big fist from Hogan sent him to the mat. Then Wakamatsu came into the ring but Hogan sent him and his megaphone out with violent force. But then, out of nowhere , a mysterious man appeared in the ring behind Hogan. The Hulkster turned around to face him, only to catch a face full of green mist! Hogan staggered around until the mystery man caught him on the chin with a lightning quick spin kick and Hulk went down. Larry crawled over and covered him, and the ref had recovered enough to count the one two three. Larry Zbyszko just beat Hulk Hogan! The crowd was in shock as Larry, Wakamatsu and the mystery man dashed out of the ring before Hogan could come to his senses, but you just know that the Hulkster will be out for vengeance, and soon.
