  2. Sorry, misread, those dates will be fine.
  3. Thew AWA would like to book Keichi Yamada from Oct. 1 to Nov. 21 .
  4. Hey, October 1st! As their +1, the AWA picks up the New Guinea Man Eater.
  5. I remember in a shoot interview, Jake Roberts sneering at the Sawyer brothers booking themselves to go over the Road Warriors, given the size difference. Buzz and Doctor D together, however, has the aspect of raw, crazy, dangerous violence that would be able to balance out the sheer power of the Roadies. I put a lot of work into the order of my cards. There's been a number of times I have had to reshuffle the order of the matches to have it make more sense for the wrestlers current status in the fed or avoid having similar finishes back to back.
  6. AWA show from the Northlands Coliseum, Edmonton, Sept. 30th Steve Jones vs. Chick Donovan Jones won by DQ when the ref caught Donovan hitting Jones with a set of brass knucks Cuban Commandos vs. Nor-Am Express Angel Acevedo won for his team hitting the over the shoulder neckbreaker on Tom Zenk Jerry Blackwell vs. Great Gama Singh Blackwell won with a power slam Buzz Sawyer & David Schultz vs. The Latin Lovers Schultz and Sawyer won with a double bulldog on Cruz Buddy Rose & Ed Wiskowski vs. Bob Sweetan & Rip Oliver Wiskowski won with the face driver on Oliver Curt Hennig vs. Mr. Olympia Hennig won with the Axe Lariat AWA American Title match : Don Muraco © vs. Tito Santana Muraco won when he caught Santana and dropped him throat first on the rope, then pinned him with his feet on the ropes
  7. Eech, bringing up Michel Martel was a step too far for the Brain.
  8. Thanks for that, Steve has been an especially fun project for me. I'd seen previous bookers get frustrated with how to use his Lordship, but I remember that the first person who lobbied to bring him into the fame was saying how he would like to build him up from the very start, and that's how I knew to use him. It's been very enjoyable to take have the fresh, idealistic Steve Jones and have him be the acorn that would grow into the mighty oak of William Regal. Mike Rotunda taking him under his wing made sense for the whole JSA subtext I am trying to bring to the AWA. Even his finisher , bringing in the Power Of The Punch a couple of decades early, makes sense : he's a gifted newcomer but still very raw, just don't let him hit that Iron Fist on you or it is all over.
  9. Not currently shown on the list are Jeff Gaylord, Steve Strong/Disalvo, and Tony Stetson (although I'm not sure there will be a huge demand on the last name, unless there is a TWA revival planned.)
  10. AWA show from the Saddledome, Calgary, Sept. 29th Mike Rotunda vs. Chick Donovan Rotunda won with the Samoan Drop Crusher vs. Gama Singh Gama Singh won with a running kneedrop Curt Hennig vs. Buzz Sawyer Both men went to a double DQ AWA Southern Tag Title match : Al Perez & Ricky Santana © vs. Latin Lovers Al Perez won for his team with the Ally-Copter on Javier Cruz Paul Orndorff vs. Mr. Olympia Orndorff won after hitting the Piledriver on Olympia AWA World Tag Title match : The Road Warriors vs. The Cuban Commandos The Road Warriors won after executing the Doomsday Device on Jerry Morrow AWA Southern Title Cage Match : Ricky Steamboat © vs. Bad News Allen Steamboat won after hitting Bad News with a Flying Crossbody Press from the top of the cage
  11. Excellent, thanks.
  12. OK, I have noticed that people would call your circuit Lutte as a short form of Lutte Internationale. I was just wondering if the proper short form of the name would be Internationale. Very small linquistic question, not really important either way.
  13. Just wondering, and this is a super nit picky detail ... should the short form of your circuit's title not be Internationale? Seeing as how Lutte is simply French for wrestling.
  14. Thanks, I'm basing a bunch of my plans on 3 moves from free agency in the space of a week. I was just able to make one of them, but one of the remaining ones is dependant on getting that +1.
  15. Just to confirm, do we get an additional open spot in October?
  16. Have reached the end of Disc 2 and knowing there will be no more Rock & Roll RPMs matches makes me weep internally. I don't remember them being this good in the few US matches I have seen of theirs. I don't desperately need to see another Colon vs. Abudullah match, even though I know there are still a couple more to go. Enjoying the Invaders more than I thought I would, as well as loving Eric Embry and the Starr Brothers (were they ever even kayfabe brothers? I was never sure.)
  17. After the most recent shows, AWA drops Mike George and picks up Bob Roop.
  18. AWA show from the Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg, The Night Of The Cage, Sept. 28th Cuban Commandos vs. Badd Company Badd Company won when Paul Diamond clotheslined Gerry Morrow into a German Suplex by Pat Tanaka Mike Rotunda vs. Great Gama Singh Rotunda won with a Samoan Drop Wahoo McDaniel vs. Bob Sweetan After Rip Oliver attacked McDaniel, Wahoo won by DQ Curt Hennig, Greg Gagne & Rick Martel vs. Buzz Sawyer, Dave Schultz & Mike Shaw After cutting Martel off in their corner of the ring and beating him down, Col. Buck Robley’s Army got the win when Shaw caught Martel coming off the top rope and crushed him with a power slam. A shocking loss for the AWA Canadian champ. AWA World Tag Title match : The Road Warriors © vs. Mr. Olympia & Mike George The Road Warriors won in 13 seconds with the Doomsday Device on Mike George AWA American Title Cage Match : Tito Santana © vs. Don Muraco After an exhausting match, Don Muraco powerslammed Tito Santana into the cage before executing the belly to belly piledriver for the pin. Don Muraco is the new AWA American champion. Cage Match : Rick Rude vs. Buddy Rose In a wild match that left both men bloody, Buddy Rose hit the Inside Out Backbreaker on Rick Rude for the win AWA World Title Cage match : Ken Patera © vs. “Crusher” Jerry Blackwell In another epic, Jerry Blackwell nearly got the pin on a number of occasions but, in the end, Patera hit a top rope elbowsmash to the top of Blackwell’s head that felled him and got the win for Patera. Patera retained his AWA World title.
  19. AWA All-Star Wrestling on ESPN and TSN, Sept. 28th “The Young Gentleman” Steve Jones vs. “Sensei” Pat Tanaka These two young lions have had some very exciting matches with each other over the past few weeks, with Jones ending up on top, but Tanaka campaigned hard to get one more match with the “Young Gentleman”, and Jones eagerly accepted the challenge. Jones had Mike Rotunda in his corner while Tanaka was backed by his partners, Paul Diamond and Chick Donovan, although neither Tanaka nor Diamond seemed too pleased to see Donovan. The match started out slowly , with both men testing the other to try to find a weakness, and then moved into some amateur style takedowns, with the two rookies exchanging dominance back and forth. The match ultimately opened up with Tanaka’s martial arts moves squaring off against Jones’ steely fists . The match quickened the pace with both men coming off the ropes with big moves , but took a different turn when Jones ducked down from an attempted Tanaka leg lariat and instead Tanaka collided with the ref and knocked him to the mat. Jones rushed over and tried to help the ref to his feet and Donovan, seeing Jones with his back turned to Tanaka, tossed a set of brass knucks into the ring which Tanaka caught. Tanaka stared at the knucks for a few seconds but then tossed them out to Diamond, unused. The ref, however, had seen him with the knucks and went over to the timekeeper to call for the DQ. Tanaka protested that he had never used the knucks and Jones argued with the ref in favor of continuing the match, so the ref reversed himself and told them to continue. Donovan was screaming from ringside that Tanaka was an idiot for not using the knucks, which provoked Diamond to use said knucks to sock him on the jaw , and Donovan was out light a light. Tanaka and Jones continued to go toe to toe in the ring until Jones whipped Tanaka into the ropes and got ready to his the Iron Fist, but Tanaka was able to duck under it and come back from the other ropes and hit Jones square on the jaw with the Thrust Kick. One … Two .. Three, and Tanaka was finally able to best the Young Gentleman. The moment the match was called, Tanaka helped Jones to his feet and bowed to him in respect, which Jones returned. Diamond came to the ring to congratulate Tanaka and both members of Badd Company shook hands with Jones and Rotunda before Tanaka and Jones raised each other’s arms as a show of respect, all while the fans gave them a standing ovation for such an outstanding match. Wahoo McDaniel vs. “Ravishing” Rick Rude Rude has had some poor luck of late in his matches with Buddy Rose and Playboy After Dark and looked to take it out on McDaniel, but Wahoo was in no mood to be intimidated, firing back at Rude’s aggression with some truly vicious chops. This set the pace for a very brutal match, with Rude using his power to slam and knock down Wahoo and Wahoo coming back with a variety of leglocks to try to break down Rude. The match took a strange turn when “Playboy” Buddy Rose showed up at ringside, put on Rude’s ring robes and proceeded to parade around the ringside area with them, to the great amusement of the audience. Rude had Wahoo set up for the Rude Awakening DDT when he finally noticed Rose and dropped Wahoo to charge over to the ropes and scream at Rose. When he turned his attention back to the ring, he was met by a huge overhand chop, followed by a running kneedrop that got the pin for McDaniel. Rose ran back to the locker room wearing Rude’s robe, clearly tickled pink that he had once again put one over on the Ravishing One. Curt Hennig & Rick Martel vs. Dave Schultz & Mike Shaw For his ongoing struggles against Col. Buck Robley’s Army, Curt Hennig has brought in the Canadian Champion Rick Martel to fight by his side. He certainly needed some top level help, as Doctor D and the Tank were relentless in attacking both men, with Shaw particularly focusing on Martel. Hennig and Martel fought back hard, like their lives depended on it, and put up an heroic effort, even looking like they might just pull it off when a double dropkick on Schultz got them a 2 and three quarters count that was only interrupted by an elbow drop from Shaw. Shaw wound up dragging Martel outside and, while Schultz distracted the referee, slammed his head into the turnbuckle post before giving him a big splash on the ringside floor. Martel was is no shape to make it back to the ring, and the Army took the decision by countout. Koko Ware vs. Rip Oliver Oliver came to the ring with “Bruiser” Bob Sweetan by his side, who tried throughout the match to work in cheap shots on the always popular Birdman. Koko didn’t seem to be fazed by this, and in fact seemed to get a lot of pleasure in winding up Sweetan and then ducking out of his way. He used his superior speed to pepper Oliver with shots and dropkicks and then duck out of the way when he or Sweetan tried to retaliate. Koko had Oliver lined up for the top rope flying dropkick to finish him off, but Sweetan came up behind him and shoved him hard off the top turnbuckle. As the ref called for the DQ, Sweetan and Oliver put the boots to Koko until Buddy Rose and Ed Wiskowski rushed to the ring and ran them off. Rose and Wiskowski both helped Koko make it back to the locker room. Kamala vs. Master Gee Hoo boy. Sheikh Adnan Kaissie was clearly looking to make a point with this match, as he pointed at Master Gee and shouted at him, “No prisoners!” Kamala immediately charged across the ring and rained down brutal chops on Master Gee, stomping him hard when he hit the ground. He then quickly hit the Air Africa splash on Master Gee, but that was not enough, as he then went up to the top rope and crushed him with a flying Air Africa. He looked like he was going to go up top again but the AWA officials interceded and demanded that he leave the ring. Poor Master Gee had to be taken from the ring on a stretcher. Can anyone stop the big Ugandan Headhunter? Paul Orndorff vs. Mr. Olympia Orndorff has announced that he is gunning for Ken Patera and his AWA world title. Mr. Olympia has taken it as his mission to make sure that Orndorff was in no condition to do so. Olympia relentlessly targeted Orndorff’s arms with intense armwringers, but Orndorff kept working his way out of them. The masked man changed tactic and started working over Orndorff’s legs to set him up for the Powerlock, but again Mr. Wonderful would reverse that and take the fight back to Olympia. Orndorff then started to do his own work breaking down Mr. Olympia, using a series of suplexes and powerslams before locking him in a tight bearhug that wore down the masked man. It looked like that might just take out Olympia but he got a vicious eye gouge on Orndorff to finally break the hold. After a series of kneelifts that staggered Orndorff, Olympia got him up in the belly to belly piledriver to finish him off, but Orndorff kept kicking until he caused Olympia to tip over and reversed it, hitting his own belly to belly piledriver. One … two … three and Orndorff had gotten a very impressive win that got him one step closer to facing the champ.
  20. No, wasn't good will wrestling, he doesn't come in until part way through. I can't seem to find it in Segunda Caida, it might be somewhere in Burning Hammer.
  21. I'm trying to remember a podcast from a few years ago where the panelists (which I'm pretty sure included Phil S., goodhelmet, and Dean) where the panelists went through the entire at-the-time roster of the WWE Hall Of Fame and discussed whether they were or were not a worse human being than Ian Rotten. Can anybody help me with what podcast it was and whether it is still available online?

  23. Actually, when Van Hammer came back, he would get a little bit of a push, finally getting the win over Cactus and a few more victories before accepting the challenge from Col. Parker and getting squashed by Sid and then dropping off the planet.
  24. AWA Show at Boylan High School, Rockford, IL, Sept. 23rd Steve Jones vs. Pat Tanaka Jones won with the Iron Fist punch Cuban Commandos vs. Nor-Am Express Cuban Commandos won when Acevedo hit the over the shoulder neckbreaker on Zenk Da Crusher vs. The Great Gama Singh Singh won when he threw a fireball at Crusher when the ref's back was turned Greg Gagne & Curt Hennig vs. Buzz Sawyer & Dave Schultz The match went to a double DQ when both teams were brawling in the ring Buddy Rose & Ed Wiskowski vs. Rip Oliver & Rick Rude Playboy After Dark won when Rose executed the Inside Out Backbreaker on Rude AWA World Tag Title match : The Road Warriors © vs. Mr. Olympia & Mike George The new champion Road Warriors won in 27 seconds with the Doomsday Device on Mike George AWA Southern Title match : Ricky Steamboat © vs. Bad News Allen Both men were criss crossing the ropes when Steamboat caught Bad News with a crossbody and got the quick pinfall. After the match, Bad News protested the count and when the ref insisted it would stand, Bad News hit the ref with the Bad News Blaster.
