[1994-04-09-WCW-Saturday Night] Music Video: Great Muta
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Seriously who was in love with pipped in crowd cheering in WCW production. It is really overtaking every segment. Good visual video at least with Muta highlights.- 5 replies

Welcome change to hear a Flair interview without Hogan mentioned. Shame it was on worldwide though and not WCWSN.

Rock N Rolls give a nice locker room celebration promo and help build toward a feud with Candido/Lee. The promo Cornette gave was amazing and 1994 really has had some of the best promos I have ever heard so far and Cornette has been at his peak. The bodies walking away was cheesy but worked here and gave them one last memorable moment to ride off into the sunset with. Great segment that conveys the aftermath and ramifications of the big Bluegrass Brawl match and sort of hits the reset button on SMW.

[1994-04-09-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: Daryl Van Horn & Prince Kharis
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Van Horn was backed into a corner saddled with this guy. I understand the concept of that this guy thinks everyone else is full of shit but really he is, but with a mummy wondering around, it will come off as comedy. DWB calling his hat a flower pot and flicking it off was a nice moment. Overall a disappointing segment because if Van Horn could have been saddled with a Kubuki type character it would have been much more rewarding. -
[1994-04-09-SMW-TV] Interview: Jim Cornette & Bruiser Bedlam
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
I did find it sort of funny that Cornette stated Bedlam was the biggest guy he had ever seen when he is standing the same height as him. Bedlam had a decent look as a tough guy at a bar and Cornette delivers another solid promo. -
I really liked this segment. Eddie swears he is a change man but is still acting pretty heelish during the segment with Doug. Then he gives a real spirited speech at the end that is as fired up babyface as it gets but Dave Brown is still skeptical. I am interested to see where this leads to. Doug’s fire makeup was real cartoony and bad.

[1994-04-09-USWA-TV] Interview: Billy Joe Travis & Don Bass
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Bad segment overall. The Moondogs looked awful and bloated instead of crazy and dangerous like they did in 1992. Travis sucks on the mic and stumbles over himself twice in a 30 second promo. The brawling here was also awful and compared to stuff that had been seen in Memphis for years, it looks worse by comparison. -
[1994-04-09-WWF-Superstars] Heartbreak Hotel: Bret Hart
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
I had to go back and see the Bret’s changing tights thing after reading the comments. That is bizarre because the promo Bret gives here is good and he escalated the program with Owen by saying more would be on the line this time. Shawn sort of feels middling in these past two segments because he doesn’t have a go to feud currently besides being Diesel’s mouthpiece against Ramon. -
I have also loved Vince’s little comments in these segments during pauses. Little stuff thrown in like “man Diesel is a monster” really sticks with me. This did seem like a little too cheesy and midcard for Shawn to be doing to be rising up the ranks. This concept would have been better equipped for when he was with Sherri.

[1994-04-02-WCW-Saturday Night] Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Steamboat getting involved and showing fire adding some adrenaline in this match and I can buy Flair beating Steamboat to prove his worth to Hogan. It was funny that Flair mentioned that Jordan and Barkley would be attending the match.- 6 replies

I like how the video was mostly jobbers getting annihilated but they did mix in Vader punishing big stars like Sting, Davey, Flair and Steamer. Vader looks huge at this time and dwarfs Gene. This felt like a good segment to rehabilitate his character after the Flair feud.

[1994-04-02-SMW-TV] Rock & Roll Express vs Brian Lee & Chris Candido
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Lee and Candido winning was a surprise to me but sets up a nice feud after the bodies conclusion. Ricky looked like he was milking that kiss for all it was worth.- 7 replies

Dutch says he is sick and tired of people interrupting down and dirty and he gets a body slam for the trouble. Caudle laughing at him on announcing was great. What was the actual result of the Bluegrass Brawl match between Lee/Tammy and DWB/DWG?
-
Cornette has been so good this year at coming up with original fire hatred promos for 3 different angles. This was another example.
-
Bob really is a local legend in Marietta and this was a nice moment for him. He delivers the typically great promo on Cornette afterwards.

[1994-04-02-SMW-TV] Up Close and Personal: The Thrillseekers
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in April 1994
Jericho is really starting to come off as too cocky and annoying in these segments. It may have worked better than it should have because Lance is so wooden and goofy also. -
Thought this was pretty fun in sections and the Gringos Locos schtick was amazing in some sections. Also enjoyed the Santo/Panther exchange in the first caida. I think this fell off the rails after Tiger Mask got unmasked. We then get Panther unmasked which didn't lead to a DQ and then the Gringos Locos turn on him in a weird moment.
