WWE are own by scumbags who financed Donald Trump's campaign and actually take an active part in his governement (yeah, I know, Linda isn't involved with WWE anymore, but that's beside the point). That's a lot worse, really. (maybe this should be moved in the Industrial Suplex)
-
I really haven't followed the TV closely (enough to get eye burns from Rousey's make-up and watch Roman get beaten down by Lesnar to cheering fans) and Mania has been awful the last few years, but really, this one is indeed the most stacked in forever. I actually… look forward to it… and think… it might end up being… fun. Yeah, I'm setting myself up for a very long night, but really, this is quite the card for modern WWE.

The WWE UK title is still a thing ? Really ?

Agreed with FMKK. ROH is barely a blip on Sinclair's radar. That being said, that video is some Orwellian shit. Meanwhile, you probably all contributed financing Trump's campaign if you subscribed to the WWE Network.

Someone has to make a gif out of Lance Archer terrorizing that little baby. Making a baby cry = OLD SCHOOL !!!! (the dad was an asshole though, as he was enjoying it.)

Damn, you kinda sold me on watching that show after all.

I dunno, I really loved the last two Okada vs Omega matches and the Naito one at the Dome, but you don't need Okada going more than 20 minutes against EVIL, Ospreay, etc... And you especially don't need *everyone* going more than 20 minutes. I mean, I'm not watching fucking Jay White go ten minutes.
-
I mean, they could touch on that but Ospreay and Scurll went 30 minutes and the Bucks vs Lovers tag went 40 so I think it's just the house style now Agreed. It's all about excess now. Too many dangerous spot, too many moves, too many finisher kick-outs, too many minutes. It's the Pornhub generation of pro-wrestling, they can't just have fun sex for 15 minutes, they need a giant gang-bang that lasts an hour with a hundred money shots and double anals and whatnot to be able to come, or so they seem to think.
-
Remember Choshu and Hashimoto having great matches that lasted 15 minutes ? I wanted to watch Genesis, but the idea of yet another 40 minutes main event doesn't appeal to me, especially one week before Mania.

What Happened When with Tony Schiavone

I agree Conrad gets really annoying when he takes upon himself to derail the show and not even try to get anything from Tony, who's been really insightful at points (the WrestleWar episode was really good). -
Oh, so you can actually write with the right capitalization and comas now ? I don't have nearly the experience that Gordi has, obviously, but I have teached French to Japanese people too (and Chinese, and Korean) and I have never seen that kind of spelling and capitalization/spacing mistake either. The only time I've seen this kind of stuff is in classes with illiterate people, and they actually don't do the same kind of totally random cap/spacing mistake either.

The Spring Break edition is everything I hoped for. Most amazing story to me : Miss Monday Nitro that day ended up in prison for fucking a 13 years old boy. Holy shit. -
TNA in 2008 is the closest thing to a completely schyzophrenic promotion, with a mix of awful comedy (with sexist overtones galore) and serious pro-wrestling angles worked in the same feud, sometime the very same segment. On the other hand, Awesome Kong 25.000 $ challenge is the most compelling (and yet simple) stuff on the TV at the beginning of the Summer. Just terrific, brutal squashes with a simple story finally unfolding (a girl named Taylor finally gets to Awesome Kong and gets a legit match for the title in the end). The Rough Cuts portraits were simple and effective. Meanwhile, you got some awful vignettes like Kurt Angle "dating". (how and why Kip James was still employed, I have no idea, but it gave us yet another useless name in the "Megastar", while Billy Gunn still had no idea what to do with himself, doing the same old "semi-point at my ass" deal)

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

Word association from the Battle Royale at Mania 4 : Raymond Rougeau : bad ass So he's another one confirming that you don't fuck with Ray. -
Well, maybe the Japanese commentary is actually atrocious and we don't know.

The Draft episode is really quite funny in that it really shows the internal "logic" of Vince McMahon. Or complete lack thereof. -
I enjoyed JR calling the Long Beach show a lot more than I did Kelly over the years, especially since he's been on "5 stars matches" bullshit mode. JR's laid back, it's quite refreshing compared to the overexcited bots we hear everywhere.

This, pretty much. I honestly feel that people just dislike Benoit for what happened (and rightfully so), but you shouldn't discredit his work because of that. If anything, his Royal Rumble and WM 20 win reflect everything that is being thrown against him when it comes to him not drawing heat or sympathy from the fans. As I said, I give the nod when it comes to charisma and selling to Danielson, but I give the nod to constant aggressiveness and intensity to Benoit. Thirded. Benoit was over as fuck in WCW as a Horseman. He was extremely versatile too (Japanese junior style ? European guys ? US veterans ? Tag ? Brawl ? Technical ? Gimmick match ? Checked it all). He was great at selling and getting sympathy (as shown by the Raven feud). Eddie took a while to put it all together. Agree he peaked higher, plus he was a better promo (not immediately either, his early WCW stuff was not good whereras Benoit was wooden but efficient enough as a Horseman). The Post Benoit Guilt definitely played a role in how he's perceived today, but he actually had a strong connnection with the crowd.

The 15 minutes monologue promo is probably the very worst heritage of the Attitude Era. It's a big part of why WWE TV is unbearable to me and why all this talk of 'X or Y is a great promo' doesn't fly with me in these times of completely scripted stuff. Do short backstage promos without awkward pauses. Get an interviewer who actually helps the talent, not hinders them (that short girl who asks the dumbest questions ever). Let the guys go on the fly and don't script every damn word. Anyway, I'm yelling at clouds at this point.

Not sure I want to spend my time listening to Bischoff. As far as Conrad does, he can get grating at points. The forced loud laugh is one of my pet peeve about him. So obvious when he does it.
