  1. Maybe he would have more momentum heading into 1996 too, having already established himself as a WWF player. He could have feuded with Diesel across the fall, leading into Bret regaining the belt.
  2. Yeah it was an interesting conversation. Maybe even if Vader still was there for Superbrawl and came in right after Mania in time to feud with Bret over the summer and then take Mabel's slot into Summerslam? That may work best... Yeah, started on TV in May but not on PPV until July.
  3. Yeah Shawn won the Euro belt at One Night Only in September...so he was champ. I am not sure he ever defended it until the staged loss to Triple H on the Christmas Raw.
  4. I would probably go Savage/Flair for the WWF/E strap...but Austin vs. Angle at Summerslam 2001 is in the running too. Love that match. Angle had some brutally stiff battles that year.
  5. In this new episode of the PTB Podcast Vintage Vault, Scott & Justin take a detour off the Highway to Hell to review Fully Loaded 1998. They chat about Val Venis, Legion of Doom, DX, Nation of Domination, Undertaker and much more. They also talk about what was going on in WCW in July 1998 and finally Justin lays down a challenge to Scott to wrap up the show. 6. Thanks Loss...great idea for sure! I will be sure to post here going forward.
  7. In this long awaited new episode of the PTB Podcast, Scott, Justin & George are joined by the legendary James J. Dillon for an in depth retrospective interview on his life and career. This is a must listen for old school fans as JJ has done and seen it all across five decades in the business. They talk about JJ's time breaking into the business, his travels around the world, his relationship with fans and other wrestlers, some road anecdotes, the formation, rise and fall of the Horsemen and a very emotional story of his reunion with Dusty Rhodes. Part two will be coming soon as JJ will go through the rest of his career, including his time booking in WWF and as Commissioner of WCW plus more. 8. I thought we gave Alzado some props as a star? That was my intent anyway, but it may have gotten lost in the conversation. Like I said on there, I want to like AWA...I just have not been able to get into the majority of what I have seen. I don't think it sucks, just not my cup of tea. That is me personally though, won't speak for Scott, Chad or Parv.
  9. Thanks to Chad & Parv for having us on...had a great time talking Starrcade.
  10. In this new episode of the PTB Podcast Vintage Vault, Scott & Justin take a royal visit to the Igloo with their review of a very memorable King of the Ring. They chat about Rock, Al Snow, Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Kane, Steve Austin and of course...Hell in the Cell! They then wrap with their NFL Playoff Predications and a quick discussion of a major Smackdown spoiler. 11. I still watch regularly but I am more ambivalent to it than anything. I just have accepted what the current product is and save my excitement for things that deserve it...like the Shield breaking through, Punk/Rock, Lesnar, etc. What keeps me really going is similar to everyone else...the classics. Watching old shows and matches with a new viewpoint. Also, doing the podcasts keeps me invigorated as well because they are so fun to do that it keeps me always thinking about wrestling as we go through these older shows.
  12. Ha...it is a quick enough watch...always been a cult favorite to mock amongst our group of friends. Larry Miller is the highlight, no surprise there.
  13. In this new episode of the PTB Podcast, Scott, Justin & Andrew Flanagan settle into the PTB Man Cave and fire up the 1991 classic, Suburban Commando for a live review. Starring Hulk Hogan, Christopher Lloyd & Shelly Duvall, this movie will cause a lot of laughs...and tears. 14. I think that is definitely a key to Bret's work...logic. You can tell he really thought about the little things to make the match more realistic or, as you said, just not expose the business. Your example about the Asai moonsault is great one.
  15. I always enjoyed the Superstars match were Backlund snaps as well...Bret/Owen vs. Steiners from early 1994 was great too. I think 1994 was probably his best in ring year with 11/96-11/97 checking in as his best overall year (brawling, wrestling, promo work, heat).
  16. In this new episode of the PTB Podcast, Graham Cawthon joins Scott & Justin to review the 2012 Year in Wrestling. They give their votes for the Best and Worst of the Year and combined with the votes of the Nation, we decide the Winners of the prestigious PTB Year in Review Awards. 17. I can see him getting involved in the Shield...maybe teams with Bryan & Kane at Mania to face them. Would be a good name guy to put them over.
  18. Ah, OK...I thought he had healed and was ready to return earlier in the year. Thanks for the info! We can turn this into a general Christian thread now then!
  19. Reading the ECW thread left me wondering...where the heck has Christian been? Is he still hurt? I thought he was cleared for action a while ago? They could definitely use him to fill a spot right now for sure.
  20. In this new episode of the PTB Podcast Vintage Vault, Scott & Justin continue to roll on through 1998 with their review of Over the Edge. They chat about Rock, Faarooq, Legion of Doom, Dude Love, Vader, Owen Hart, Steve Austin and much, much more. 21. I hope you do...the show is prob 15 minutes of politics stuff, 15-20 college football and like 2:10 wrestling...thanks for listening!
  22. Yeah I wish I had cut RJ off as he kept going...I was hoping he would come on to bust on KK a bit...it is a small part and as soon as he hangs up we get right back to wrestling, if that helps at all...
  23. In this new jam packed, stacked episode of the PTB Podcast, Kevin Kelly joins Scott & Justin to open things up and have an open free form forum chat, including discussions on Florida wrestling, Crockett Promotions, the death of the territories, Kevin's beginnings in WWF, Ring of Honor, Wrestlemania XXIX, TNA, WCW, the future of wresting and MMA and so much more. Kevin adds his experience and insight into the business to really drive the discussion in this episode. Oh, and in the midst of that, the boys are joined by a special surprise guest and the discourse veers into some controversial waters. Finally, they wrap up with a chat about the year that was in College Football. 24. Seriously ? Well, he's the best athlete in WWF history so that has to count for something. Gotta put that rodeo scholarship to good use.
  25. In this special episode of the PTB Podcast, Scott leads a roundtable comprised of Justin, Josh Richer and Andrew Flanagan to tell the dramatic, epic tale of the Rise and Fall of the WCF. WCF was a small Rhode Island backyard promotion that ran in the mid 90s. Despite it's brief existence, it was the home to lavish characters, intriguing storylines and loads of drama. Now, for the first time ever, the creative team behind the promotion open up and have an in depth discussion on the peaks and valleys of the beloved Wrestling Championship Federation. http://placetobe.podbean.com/ https://www.facebook.com/placetobepodcast Twitter: Place2BePodcast Also, the PTB Podcast is now available on the Stitcher Radio app!
