  1. Keith's Blog (yes I'm sorry): And then, further down the update, we discover that Mark Henry wanted to retire 3 years ago, but Benoit convinced him to return. Well, damn, we should have known THEN that he was no good. Oh fuck you Scott. Just SHUT THE FUCK UP.
  2. There's some idiot on Scott Keith's blog chastising wrestling fans for "not remembering the impact of Chris Benoit". Apparently we shouldn't judge Apparently having great matches trumps killing a seven year old and his mother.
  3. This one made me laugh for some reason. Tony Schiavone during the Main Event of Starrcade 96: "There's more to Roddy Piper than his joints!"
  4. As much as I hate to say it and even bring up his name, Scott Keith had a big hand in this movement. Fans (like me) who started going online in the mid late 90s (I started in 97) would undoubtedly encounter Keith and his writing. Even back then he was preaching that guys like Dusty Rhodes, Hulk Hogan, Abdullah, Jimmy Valiant were worthless while at the same time spreading the "tape trading" philosophy. I know this may be extrapolating, but I think this philosophy has led to internet fans looking at wrestlers like robots who are there simply to entertain them. On Sunday you had fans write into the Observer criticizing Benoit for no showing the PPV even though at the time it was thought he was dealing with a "family emergency". Furthermore, you have people at TSM and DVDVR still defending Benoit mostly because they think he was a great wrestler. A great wrestler, not a great *person*. Along with Keith I would put Herb Kunze on this list and all the pathetic Herb wannabe clones that popped up in the mid-late 90s. But if I start talking about Herb Kunze I won't be able to stop
  5. As Alvarez has said before, Hogan "got" the wrestling business, he knew how to work (by his definition) and his body *still* broke down. So know matter how you look at the business, whether it be "do as little as possible and get the most rewards" or "work your ass for a small percentage of the fans" you still pay for it in the end.
  6. Thought this would fit the topic. from wo.com
  7. Just read your article after coming home from work, Loss. That was fantastic.
  8. Jillian Hall comments: Time to Speak Well, by now the whole world knows of the horrible news that took place this week. With all of the comments and messages from people saying how sorry they are for our loss, I figured I would speak in general. I am 100% in agreeance with WWE and Mr. McMahon on completely erasing all tributes to Chris Benoit. While he had always been nice and polite to me and most of the WWE talent, what he did is completely disgusting and unforgiveable! This man who could have been a legend has demolished his reputation. My heart goes out to Nancy and the adorable Daniel and the family and friends they left behind! I really hope she isn't fired over this Victoria: Hey All. I had planned ..ing off talking about a recent trip to an arena football game, but I would be remiss not to address the Chris Benoit situation. Everyone who knew anything about wrestling knew of his in-ring contributions. I truly don't know what I can say and not get in trouble with the WWE. Anyone who reads my blogs regularly knows how much I love wrestling, and being part of the WWE. But I think what I have to say is more important. His son, Daniel, came to many shows. We bonded. He a was a cute little boy. What Chris did was selfish and hurtful. I fear that him being a superstar in some way glamorizes the situation. That's not what suicide is. It is selfish and hurtful. As long as you have a breath to breathe, you can make change to improve your life. You can talk to family, or friends, or clergy. And if you're not comfortable with any of them, here are two phone numbers for a Suicide and Crisis Hotline. 1-800-784-2433 (1-800-SUICIDE) or 1-800-273-8255 (1-800-273-TALK). They take calls 24/7. You always have options. Maybe someday I'll be able to forgive Chris, but not today. God Bless Us All, Lisa Marie
  9. I didn't see a time mentioned. More from Keller:
  10. Posters at TSM are still trying to defend Benoit. I really don't know what to say.
  11. Did anyone else think Chavo was creeped out in his tribute speech last night? Like he knew what really went down.
  12. Konnan and Ron Killings quit TNA last night before the tapings.
  13. As Bix said, that was the jobber's fault as he took the Pedigree wrong. A few more: Paul Orndorff calling Mister T "Boy" during the build to WM 1 Orndorff mimicking monkey mannerisms at Mr. T during a Piper's Pit confrontation Piper calling Bruno Sammartino a "wap" on the Pit. Hillbilly Jim calling Lanny Poffo a "limpwrist" during an MSG show. Jesse Ventura condoning beating up your wife/girlfriend if she gets out of line (WM 5)
  14. I wonder who is against the angle? My guess would be Patt Patterson and Jim Ross are the leading opposing forces. Patterson begged Vince not do to the Slaughter/Iraq War exploitation in 91 (must not have been that convincing) Also, from this week's Observer via Rajah:
  15. Meltz:
  16. It keeps getting better: PWI:
  17. Wasn't this idea squashed when Flair lost the book? I believe it was his idea to begin with (signing all the great workers from the WWF at once) I've always wondered if WWF business would have dropped if they all left. I'm tempted to say no but the workrate would have been non-existent in the company.
  18. Meltzer: Dave's blood is boiling, you can tell he's about to unleash
  19. Random thought of the day. Does anyone remember the old WCW "Prime" show that aired on the now defunct Prime network (duh) back in the mid 90s. It aired Monday afternoons at 4 PM in my market. I believe the matches were just Worldwide or Pro matches shown out of order. But the funny thing was that the show was like 1 or 2 months behind current storylines. So you would have Tony and Dusty hyping PPVs that already happened and storylines that had already ended. I remember them focusing on the DDP "benefactor" storyline that had not been mentioned on Nitro or Saturday Night in months. I believe the show ended once the NWO angle started or soon after. Anyone else watch or remember the show?
