  1. a few 1) The heel has to believe what he's doing is the right thing. 2) Restholds automatically bring down a match
  2. Yeah I was a big Roller Games fan back in the late 80s/early 90s when I was in middle school and Junior High IIRC the show aired around 1 or 2 AM Saturday Nights/Sunday mornings on my local CBS affiliate. I don't remember much only that I knew it was a work right away. The acting was pretty much worse than any pro wrestling acting I've ever seen I used to watch SNL, Roller Games and Worldwide (WSBK out of Boston which my market had the feed of) in a row
  3. They still do a lot of flash/quick pins on House Shows but often they come across as cheap/undeserved wins rather than a dramatic "do anything to win" finish The house show I went to last year had 3 separate roll up finishes
  4. Yeah the same was said of Kane. The guys working him said they could barely feel his strikes but it looked lethal and that Jericho had the opposite going for him (hurt like hell, looked like shit)
  5. I'm not saying I completely disagree with you, but I will say wrestlers are likely to weigh things differently. Fans are going to remember how good the matches are and judge wrestlers by how many good matches they have and what entertaining qualities they bring to those matches. Wrestlers are going to judge other wrestlers by different criterion: how easy were they to work with, did they remember spots, listen to the crowd, not show up impaired or unmotivated, etc. I also question how objective many wrestlers can be -- no one is above saying nice things about someone they like personally. When wrestlers say David Von Erich was the best, they may mean he was the best at listening to the heel calling spots, and also the one who showed up to work. I know most wrestlers look down on Kevin because he worked overly stiff, which isn't really the type of thing fans are going to hold against him. Exactly. Kind of like that report years ago where all the WWE workers were saying how great Kane was to work with and the net going ballistic. BUT IT'S KANE!! NAME ME ONE GOOD KANE MATCH
  6. a poster on Scoot's blog said Andre the Giant was "just another big guy"
  7. I really think Invasion drew that monster number because of Austin going back babyface for that one week. The crowd was going insane on that show and the poor naive fans buying the PPV actually believed he was back to the "old" Stone Cold. But for the second time they were swerved with Austin and that was pretty much it with getting the casual fan to buy PPV's of course the interpomotional angle was another reason but I really believe Austin was the primary source of the revenue
  8. um I hate to post this here but what the fuck is happening at TSM? Is it a lame April fools day joke or is it really the end? (mercy killing?)
  9. Todd Martin's RAw Report Undertaker came to the ring, and said that the last time he wrestled Michaels, Michaels spent five years at home trying to recover. Undertaker added that when Michaels is questioning his faith he needs to remember that he opened the gates to hell himself. At that point, a video package aired of Shawn Michaels in a cemetery. Seriously. They played spooky, melodramatic music and he talked about Undertaker’s past victims. Michaels dug a grave for Undertaker, with a tombstone that said 16-1. Michaels then kicked the tombstone in the grave. He said rest in piece in a gravely voice and started throwing dirt in the grave. This was laugh out loud funny in terms of how ridiculous and hokey it was. It was also a gigantic step in the wrong direction for the only WrestleMania match that has actually been clicking. What a disaster of a segment. way to overreact. He's the only person I've seen who had that reaction to the segment. I don't get it. It was just your typical pro wrestling promo mixed in with the Undertaker's creepy history and mannerisms
  10. so HHH/Orton is now no DQ. I really can't predict a finish for the match. When the angle first started I had in the back of my mind Steph turning on Hunter allowing Orton to win. They could still go that way I guess but it would be almost impossible to make sense out of (even in a whacked out pro wrestling way) The no dq stip pretty much guarentees a big run in finish
  11. Yeah have to love how Scott is reranting on WM-17 to alter his opinions to make them more smark-friendly. HHH/Taker is an obvious one. Yeah Scoot we'll all be "shocked" how you overrated it back in 2001 (**1/4)
  12. Scott still thinks WWE does bra and panties matches. I guess no one told him about the move to PG. Plus one his readers was defending Benoit again
  13. also Kevin Nash told a story about going out to dinner with Stephanie alone around the time of Summerslam 94 and Shane showing up and basically saying "Dude that's my sister, she's not even 18 yet"
  14. Stephanie turned 18 in September 1994 and Savage left in November/December 94. She was just entering her Freshman year at Boston University. So if it's true that's pretty sleazy even by wrestling standards
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysX_f6EoV5Q...feature=related Ha! Early 90s WCW cheesiness in all it's glory Madusa: "Missy you're doing what you do best...blowing... hot air. The whole thing is pretty risque for 1992 with all the sexual double talk. Meltzer said Missy starved herself for a month before the PPV
  16. Oh my God Impact last night -Mick Foley putting over Randy Orton huge on TNA programming -Sabin admitting to practicing spots before the Ultimate X match -Samoa Joe threatening Steiner with a knife and then Steiner not selling any fear at all during the MEM promo later on -Don West heel turn where he admits the announcing in TNA sucks -MEM laughing at Booker's shoot last name
  17. I think Kennedy was going to destroy the Mcmahon family one by one and then when he went to attack Steph Hunter would run in and save her kicking off the program. not the same but very similar angles
  18. yeah they were going to do this angle two years ago with Kennedy (or something similar) before he screwed up. I'm glad as Orton has shined and I don't think Kennedy could have pulled this off as well
  19. Anyone else think Meltzer has lost some WWE sources? He used to have a lot of concrete information to report but now all he seemingly does is speculate. Just a coule of years ago he detailed the Vickie Guerrero angle in full months before it happened and it went down exactly as reported. or maybe the company is just booking on the fly more and he *has* to speculate
  20. That's the most suprised I've been watching wrestling in years. Like Bix said he went from a top angle on Smackdown to ECW
  21. mentioned at DVDVR look at this WWF House Show Card: WWF @ East Rutherford, NJ - Meadowlands - July 9, 1987 (5,469) SD Jones defeated Steve Lombardi Jerry Allen pinned Rick Rude with a sunset flip Scott Casey defeated Iron Mike Sharpe Killer Kahn pinned Brady Boone Koko B. Ware pinned Nikolai Volkoff Don Muraco fought Bob Orton to a double disqualification Jim Brunzell & the Junkyard Dog defeated Kamala & Sika George Steele defeated Danny Davis in a steel cage match by escaping through the door HA! 5,469 people for Danny Davis v George Steele on top?! IN A CAGE!?
  22. Best pro wrestling promo of all time?
  23. Just saw the Dawn Marie Shoot and she admits to having an affair with a wrestler while in WWE but didn't say who. The interviewer said that everyone (internet) knew who it was so she didn't have to say the name. any idea who it was? I don't remember reading that
  24. Just noticed that the Nidia/Steph weight loss scenario from 03 was mentioned in the interview. and apparently Steph doesn't think CM Punk is good looking but thinks Orton and Batista are. Yeah she is just like Vince.
  25. Just read the Steph interview and there is no way any smark can call her dumb. She might have a warped sense of reality (well she does) but she certainly is an intelligent human being with a grasp of the business. Her comparing herself to Paris Hilton was kind of funny
