  1. That's why CM Punk has heat for dating Maria.
  2. It is really quite mind-boggling. It's the worst at TSM where the board has been flooded with ECW marks who are basically claiming that every ECW match was **** and that everyone involved in the promotion was flawless. I'm starting to think more and more that a lot of the so called "smart" wrestling fans really just want to see wall to wall spotfests. I have no problem with that just as long as they would admit it already.
  3. Stacy is a really, really bad actress. I know that doesn't mean much in Hollywood but I can't imagine her playing a permanent role on a running series. Trish yes, Stacy hell no. Every role she has had so far has been a non-speaking, strictly T and A part. There's a reason for that
  4. I was watching Survivor Series 88 a couple days ago and during the Main Event (Hogan/Savage/Hercules/Koko/Hillbilly Jim v Bossman/Akeem/Rooster/Dibiase/Haku), Gorilla Monsoon refers to Ted Dibiase as the "Excellence of Execution". Very weird to hear that term not associated with Bret. Very weird.
  5. Meltzer's Update Today:
  6. Seriously what the hell was going on with Matsuda? I was watching some stuff from this time period and he appears to be totally out of it. A lot of the time he seems to be wandering around the ring having no idea what's going on around him. BTW, what was the reaction at the time to JJ and Windham going to the WWF? I know Windham had heat with Vince for flaking out on the road in 85 and bolting. Plus with the trouble Kendell and his father got into, he must have known he was going to be buried. JJ just didn't seem to be the right fit for the WWF. Amazing he lasted there almost 10 years as Vince's right hand man.
  7. Nothing sets off the IWC more than when a big monster stiff gets injured. Mark Henry destroyed his knee tonight and will miss 4-6 months. Cue the jokes. Well they've already started.
  8. I like how at WC some poster noted that Flair looked in horrible shape on Tuesday at ECW and Meltzer gets all pissy and says that Flair was just "selling". Listen I liked the match a lot and Flair is Flair but he is in bad shape now and is usually gasping for air 2 minutes in. I'm actually scared he is going to have a heart attack. The Meltz won't ever give an inch with Flair
  9. The first episode (8:00 p.m.) dates back to January 23, 1989 and features the Rockers (Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty) facing the Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard) who were led by legendary manager Bobby "the Brain" Heenan in a featured tag team match-up. The debut show will also showcase Hercules as he takes on the "Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase with the main event of the evening showcasing wrestling icon Hulk Hogan as he steps into the ring against Big Boss Man. The event, originally produced by MSG Network for the WWE, has Rod Trongard and Lord Alfred Hayes as the ringside commentators. The second episode (9:00 p.m.) features the August 30, 1982 card and is highlighted by WWE Champion Bob Backlund as he tangles with "Playboy" Buddy Rose. Additionally, Andre the Giant, Chief Jay Strongbow and Jules Strongbow take on Blackjack Mulligan, Mr. Fuji and Mr. Saito in a 6-man tag-team two out of three falls match. Furthermore, Pedro Morales defends his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Snuka.
  10. There were chants that made it on air earlier in the show. I guess they muted the crowd at the end with Tazz and Joey screaming.
  11. Heyman heel turn and the mutants are silent
  12. I like how there are posters at TSM and DVDVR who are saying that Sabu did this on purpose to get fired so he can work the ROH show coming up and go back to TNA. Yes I'm sure that was his plan from the start. This is one of those times I feel like pulling my hair out when reading wrestling message boards.
  13. I like how on Raw, during the oral sex skit, the DX stripper went to kiss Candice on the lips, and she (Candice) turned her head so the kiss went on her cheek. Because you know when a hot chick just had an orgasm from another hot chick going down on her they like that little soft peck on the cheek. This company tries to go all the way but always wimps out.
  14. Well that didn't take long. Edge is new champ. Bye Bye RVD
  15. Just another note, this whole deal was why Trish did a quick clean job to Mickie James this past Monday. That did seem weird at the time
  16. I'm wondering if TNA will make an offer to her. There's already a ready made angle with Christian. My guess is she wouldn't be interested and they probably couldn't afford her anyway.
  17. According to the latest Observer. Trish's contract is up in August and she's seriously considering not re-signing. She is getting married in September and she's taking an extended leave. I didn't point this out but I was thinking that they are slowly turning Torrie Wilson back into the top babyface woman. Candice has been buried since her Playboy shoot and Trish has gotten less and less attention since getting hurt. I think they are slowly phasing Trish out of the picture in anticipation of her leaving. BTW I think Trish is the first woman ever in wrestling to not end up marrying a worker. Edit: Here's the tease in Meltzer's preview: "What wrestler looks to be leaving WWE in a few months and why" Looks like she's gone. Wow I thought she had caught the wrestling bug but with all the mainstream exposure it looks like she wants to go Stacy's route and go into "legitimate" media.
  18. I agree with WP. The first thing I thought of after reading this was I wish you could post this at TSM and see their reactions. For proof of how over Cena is, look at last night. The crowd was pretty quiet throughtout the show and Cena had them in the palms of his hands at the end of the night. Fact is he brings emotion and heat to everything he does.
  19. According to the latest Observer, Jeff Jarrett held a 4 year TNA anniversary party at the TV tapings last week and the workers celebrated by.......... watching RAW. There is something so WCW about that
  20. No transitional run for Edge. Better off I guess. Cena goes over RVD tomorrow for the title. They really are protecting him big time I see TSM is on the verge of a meltdown with this Cena push. Awesome
  21. The other day I came across some tapes with WWE programming from early 2001. I haven't seen the shows probably in 5 years and there was some interesting stuff. -It's amazing how much Vince McMahon has aged since then. He looks about 20 years older today. -The crowd was going apeshit for the Trish/Stephanie McMahon storyline. This was a guilty pleasure of mine. -The midcard was going in circles with Jericho, Benoit, Eddie, X-Pac all trading wins and losses and no one was getting significantly over. No upward mobility. The crowds were noticeably not getting behind Jericho as much as they used to. -The Undertaker/Kane "Brothers of Destruction" gimmick was going fine until it was dropped because Hunter needed a program for Wrestlemania. -Raven was absolutely heatless with the hardcore stuff. -Trish's voice sounds so much different than it used to. She was so much more muscular back then. -Just like the IC title scene the tag title situation was going in circles with E & C, Hardys, Dudleys trading wins and loses. Basically the product was becoming stale. -Angle was still playing a goofball as champion and it killed his reign. -Regal was tremendous during this period. Great acting in the whole Vince/Trish/Stephanie storyline. -Tazz was very green as an announcer -The product was in serious need of a creative overhaul. Very stale. The Jericho and Benoit pushes come Spring and the glimmer of hope with the Invasion changed things up for a little while, but then it was back to business as usual.
  22. PWI: Gotta love the mutants
  23. Eh, Lawler should be putting over Tazz. Nobody really knows about Lawler's wrestling history anyway as he was not in the big leagues. He was never the star in WCW/NWA or the WWF and when he was in the WWF he was a joke wrestler who nobody took seriously. Tazz has more of a wrestling history that's known to the fans than Lawler does. And their present and past charactors since the 90s should have Tazz destroying Lawler in a matter of seconds. And if the stories behind the scenes are true about their ECW/ONS II match than Lawler should be losing to Tazz every day for the rest of his life just for the punishment. I see you point but I wouldn't call Lawler a total joke. He's still over with the fans left over from the attitude era because of the "puppies" stuff. Also he went over Tazz at Summerslam in their feud in 2000 so he had history with him. Plus, some new fans could have bought the 80s DVD where he was put over as one of the toughest men in wrestling. Older fans could remember his hot feud with Bret in 93. I just don't see the big deal with Tazz anymore. He was blown up more than Lawler was in their brawl and his punches looked weak.
