  1. Saving Dave and Dylan's podcast for work tomorrow. But Pat was on another podcast that covers women's Wrestling: http://ringbellesonline.com/2013/02/03/fig...uy-pat-laprade/ Hopefully they compliment each other. If Wrestling Culture covers Maryse too I am sorry!
  2. Todd Martin gave the book a really bad review. Very little insight and a lot of obvious padding (bland, insight free Wrestler bios and lists for the sake of lists.)
  3. Video interview with Pat from the Fight Network:
  4. I think people were uniformly disappointed in Dustin Rhode's prior shoot interviews but this looks really interesting:
  5. If anything I was a sheep who followed the word of Adam Summers and Mike Sempervive. The increased interest in New Japan has be a lot more gradual than some people here are conceptualising. Wasn't all that long ago when Meltzer was barely writing about the promotion and that Alan4L was being accused by Bix of performing mind control on Western European wrestling fans and tricking them into watching Puro.
  6. Yet again I was talking in a thread about Wrestling Observer awards. Maybe I could have been clearer but still. That it isn't what I said. I meant out of touch with Observer voters. New Japan's dominance shouldn't have surprised anyone. We are talking about the Wrestling Observer awards. I am just providing context here. Please don't turn this into an us vs them. That isn't even an exaggeration it is an outright lie. Very, very few agreed with Dave's ascertion.
  7. This thread is about the Observer awards, Dylan. I am talking in that context.
  8. I disagree with Dave calling it that but it did have a relatively diverse selection of high end matches in the second half of the show. I don't think it is overhyped they added on a game changing revenue stream that they continue to reap the benefits of due the best show to show booking of all the major companies. WWE reversed the decline of their PPV business and promoted the third biggest Wrestlemania but they didn't really have a sense of business growth about them in 2012. Not insane at all if you look the half year WON awards threads it was already established. The New Japan-Okada-Rainmaker story was the narrative of 2012 for Observer readers.
  9. With the greatest respect I think some on this board as just out of step rather than it being New Japan overrated. They had an undeniable year on pretty much every level and firmly wrote the narrative of the year by the Spring of 2012 with the ascension of Okada. For the record I am a WWE guy. But WWE was a boated mixed bag of a promotion in 2012. New Japan's foreign iPPV buys don't reflect that. Although the buys for the 4th January show are a mystery it seems. They only issue I had with the awards was Ryback winning most overrated. When you have Garett Bischoff benefiting from Nepotism, the annoyingness of Miz and Ken Anderson and the nonchalantness of Rob Van Dam it screams smarky anti-muscle guy bias.
  10. Too bad the story was very much likely bullshit and Corino recanted it completely.
  11. May have gotten it ass backward but from what I heard he said the best locker room fight he SAW was Orndroff/Vader - a fight that occured when he was in WWF as Champion.
  12. I have Gary Hart's book but many others don't and would like to. If you are on Facebook give this a thumbs up: https://www.facebook.com/majorleaguewrestli...406053779472434 Thanks
  13. Within the past year or so I believe he has. It is Vinny Verheri/"Bryan's Friend Vinny". Vinny at the very least formats it.
  14. Very unfortunate and heartfelt mistake by Dave here: http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-top-sto...o-mike-goldberg
  15. Pat must be especially happy as El Generico has been confirmed as signed with WWE.
  16. It is and I will be getting it. But any footage geek has to be lamenting the absence of the famous Tom McGee match: http://www.wwedvdnews.com/complete-match-l...tion-dvd/32841/
  17. I think so too but I also think I am mixing it up with their match in Kuwait.
  18. On the second match: Did this air in the US or Europe?
  19. I had very little concern or cycnism about the House of Hardcore show going in. I knew everyone was going to work extra hard as besides Dreamer the Wrestler and tragic ECW homer stuff he is super respected by the naughties era of WWE wrestlers due how he treated them when they were in Developmental or on the indies when Dreamer was in Talent Relations there. Tommy is also relatively well connected and smart in general too in terms of the logistics of organising shows too. Everyone I consider trustworthy or otherwise praised the show to the heavens. If anyone dislikes the show I will really have to wonder why they bother with modern Wrestling.
  20. Pretty sad you guys haven't shitted all over this show yet. Watching it now.
  21. Stephen Platinum of Platinum Championship Wrestling: http://clatl.com/binary/7719/1302673026-dscn1352.jpg Amusingly looks like Russo.
  22. Saturday Morning Slam is the bestest. Remember you can't strike to the head also:
  23. Check out the "ROH" letter by Empire Wrestling. New standards of self obsession has been set: http://www.f4wonline.com/more/more-top-sto...ke-roh-and-more
  24. Pro Wrestling 2012, folks:
  25. Regal had more issues than anyone with it seems (read bottom to top):
