  1. That's the tweet I was referring to: https://twitter.com/Storm_Wrestling/status/...309693778206720 He really seems to put those two meeting on a pedestal as an evolutionary moment in the Wrestling. Rather obviously he watches and rewatches a lot of Wrestling.
  2. It would be too strong say Regal has a problem with people saying it but he has been pointing out that Marty Jones and Mark Rocco innovated the Junior Heavyweight style not Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask whenever it gets brought up. He did it on the podcast and a number of times on Twitter - even correcting Lance Storm on it. Seems to be a real pet peeve.
  3. Regal on the Art of Wrestling: http://tsmradio.com/coltcabana/2012/09/05/...m-regal-part-1/
  4. Dylan just needs to join Twitter now: https://twitter.com/davemeltzerwon
  5. Great deal if you like Art of Wrestling and want to show some appreciation for the podcast: http://digitalcolt.com/product/colt-cabana...g-premium-vol-1 Regal mentioned that he recorded an episode of it with Colt a few days ago. Something to look forward to.
  6. Ric is on divorce number four according to the latest Observer.
  7. - 8/27 Raw: Kane's anger management monologue. "I grew up locked in a basement, suffering severe psychological and emotional scarring when my brother set my parents on fire. From there, I shifted around among a series of mental institutions until I was grown, at which point I buried my brother alive---twice. Since then, I've set a couple of people on fire and abducted various co-workers. Oh, and I once electrocuted a man's testicles. Years ago, I had a girlfriend named Katie, but uh... let's just say, that didn't turn out so well. My real father is a guy named Paul Bearer, who I recently trapped in a meat locker. I've been married, divorced, broke up my ex-wife's wedding and Tombstoned the priest. And for reasons never quite explained, I have an unhealthy obsession with torturing Pete Rose."
  8. Got it. I just heard from a third party that Patera had come up and Dave had responded in a pretty dismissive way. I have no clue what goes on at that board. Does anyone even try and use that forum to advance arguments for candidates? I have my reasons for not subscribing despite generally thinking Dave is easily the best at what he does, but I would almost consider subscribing if there was any serious discussion on that forum that allowed for advancing discussion of candidates. From everything I hear though there isn't. I kill a lot of time there and I am one of the main trolls. The MMA section is fairly interesting if you are interested in the business of MMA and Alan's forum is a good resource for Indies & Puro. But yeah there is nothing in the way of meaningful Wrestling discussion and decreasingly so. Dave is FAR more likely to address a troll or antagnistic post than a question about his own newsletter or a "Dear Dave" thread. The Patera guy has a 115 page thread based on his (made up) experiences with Tranny escorts which posters play along with. Yep. On a more redeeming note looking forward to the Hall of Fame podcast with Alan4L, Justin Shapiro and Todd Martin that is out this week or so.
  9. You would know better than me on that front in terms of past history. The "poor historian" thing was said in the context of people evaluating Bruiser Brody on a poor contextual foundation so to speak at least in Bruce's eyes. So you are likely right about it being a Wrestling Classics knock. He referred to the Kurt Angle is bad worker talking point as a trendy contrarian thing from 5 years ago which has reappeared to him again just recently. That opinion of Angle really took root on DVDR but I've seen people discuss it pretty much everywhere consistently over the years. Additionally DVDR, trendiness or contrarism doesnt enter the discussion anymore. Likely due to the fact Kurt has played into the criticisms of his own accord as he has gotten more and more implusive in the ring. It is kinda odd that he thinks that it has only been apart of two waves rather than an ongoing criticism.
  10. Let's be clear Dave was responding to a gimmick troll who pushes Patera on a largely non-substantive basis EVERY YEAR.
  11. I really don't to be seen as sexiest here but Terri is a pretty diehard fangirl for Edge - you know the type that doesn't like to hear anything bad AT ALL about Edge and anyone who dislikes him is biased in some way. We all have our favourites and/or blind spots from youth but Terri/missedgehead is a fan club President type and her posts were ridiculed on the F4W even back when the board was tamer. Shes sends Dave stuff for the daily update and for the PPV feedback. So Dave knows her.
  12. I am not totally sure. As he mostly talks about Hulk Hogan through gritted teeth being the yuky alternative to his NWA and Ric Flair. He is far more likely to reference how Hulk wrapped himself in the flag and lied on Arsenio than his in ring work. I might be charicturing Bruce but it isn't that off base.
  13. Bruce Mitchell had a bit of a moan about the "alternative reality" that exists online on the second of his weekend audios. The "alternative reality" being the opinions associated with the unnamed board DVDR board and here I guess about Kurt Angle not being a good worker and likewise Bruiser Brody. On the former he thinks people neglect the concept that exciting the crowd make a good worker and with Brody people neglect the context of the time, his character and promotion(s) he was operating in. Along with the suggestion that they were poor historians as they are watching in a distorted fashion by not talking to people were around at the time and getting a feel for the context that way. He cited the reaction to an AJPW match where Brody & Windham were in the ring and Brody just steamrollers Barry in a match which lead to comments about how terrible and selfish Brody was. Bruce felt that those responding where the ignoring the context - Brody being the mega star and it being Barry's first tour. He did admit he was generalising but there was validity to what he was saying....
  14. Dylan covered everything. I get cranky and tut whenever someone even mentions ECW after being DVD'd, book'd and reunion'd out. But Dylan's podcast and the project's communications via social media have changed all that for me. John and Kevin do have something really unique in the footage they have amassed and their own perspective on the impact of the promotion.
  15. Going out on a limb there

    SummerSlam

Man why can't WWE deliver a main event storyline & match that is consistently good instead of a bizarre mix of the good, the bad, the convoluted and the forgotten?
  17. Yeah Sunny said this 2003/4ish in her shoot interview that Primo was the passionate one and Carlito just was doing it for an easy wage. Carlito hammers that point home in his Art of Wrestling interview.
  18. Didn't know you guys captured that match! Yeah it was the most actively interesting find both in terms of both historical value and a visual demonstration of a largely unseen style in recent memory.
  19. Also not safe for work.
  20. Agreed. I'd be more on the "skin flint Jerry" train of thought if he had more historian and reporter support and wrestlers were the ones blocking Jerry's induction. But obviously there are wrestlers who hold a grudge about working for Jerry most notably Steve Austin.
  21. Posting this in good spirits. Breakdown by category of the most popular candidates in 2011: Just to remind people Steve Williams, Curtis Iaukea and Kent Walton were all voted in. As you stated Jerry is mostly voted for by (former) wrestlers. But Jerry doesn't chart in any other category. To me Memphis being perceived as a small, comedic promotion has a lot more to do with it.
  22. Where is this former Wrestlers hate Jerry Jarrett talking point coming from? Certainly not from the voting last year. Is Jeff Hardy above or below Edge?
  23. And Dave didn't list Red's titles at the end of it. Dave spoke very fondly of Red and Red was so loved by his peers I would be legitimately shocked if we don't get a giant bio.
  24. Keller called it one of Heyman's best performances ever.
