  1. Holy shit I thought this was incredible. I saw the names and figured it would be quality, but it actually exceeded my expectations.
  2. Wow. I legit loved this. The crowd is nuts. Sure it suffers from some of the cluster-fuck complaints mentioned, and a couple of the FMW guys are more than a bit outclassed, but I'm on the side of the fence that finds all of that adding to the charm of the match. I mean Holy Fuck this is among the exact reasons why I find a project like this appealing. I get to catch a rare match that I can't even believe ever took place and that is something entirely unique and fantastic. Dear PWG, please book Steen, Super Dragon, LA ParK & Negro Casas v. Generico, Blue Panther, Dick Togo & Necro so that I can get to see something at least slightly resembling this. Oh, and set a race quota of a minimum 50% Mexican attendance (I'll get in) so that we can get some smart fans out of Reseda and get some more true fans in there.

  5. I remember the 1st time that I ever saw this match. One of the very 1st (if not the 1st) tape that I got through the mail was a comp that I'm pretty sure I got from an Omar Delgado out of his mailing list. My primary attraction that particular tape was this match as it had been described as the MOTY. And, being a teen whose mind was blown by what he had seen from Liger and other Japanese juniors, I was pumped to see what I was sure would be a ultra high-end match of a style that had really just been teased to me prior to that. I mean, up until that point, my point of reference for this stuff was Apter mags and the NJPW/WCW Japan Supershow which had a pretty disappointing Liger-Nogami match. Anyhow, my reaction to this match when I saw it was pretty strange. It wasn't at all what I had anticipated, expected, and hoped for and yet I loved it. My 14-15 year old self was hoping for the 1992 equivalent of today's ROH/DG with tons of moves. Instead, I got a story and some violence that I thought we only got in the states. The meshing of the styles blew my little mind and I loved this match. On 1st viewing I really liked, but was slightly disappointed by it but was utterly compelled to watch it again. On 2nd viewing I absolutely loved it. Nearly 20 years later I get to watch it again and it holds up well. I completely understand all of the detractors, but it doesn't hurt the match for me. For example, the suggestions that Liger should have fought back here & there resonate well with me because I'm someone who thinks Liger is an all-time great, but not in the class of Ricky Morton & Ricky Steamboat. Meanwhile, I also agree on the indictments of Samurai. I couldn't put my finger on what the detractors were suggesting until the KENTA-SUWA match was referenced and that was like a light bulb in my brain as SUWA gives 1 of the all-time great heel performances in that match. In short, I get most of what the detractors are saying and I feel like we're arguing why a 4.5-4.75 star match isn't 5 stars. This is a great, great match

  7. Dreamer v. Cactus, ECW TV 11/12/95....This is great television. When praising the Cactus heel run, most bring up the promos. That's appropriate as those promos are all-time classics. However, I find that this match often gets forgotten. It's the showdown between Tommy and his now former friend who turned on him to join his arch-nemesis Raven. Cactus is on his anti-hardcore high-horse and has no interest in working an ECW-style match. Meanwhile, Terry Funk is in Tommy's corner and begging for Tommy to bring the fight. This TV version of the match is a highlight version with promos edited in and makes for some fantastic story driven television. Chaparita Asari v. Aja Kong; WWF RAW 12/11/95....Just a sick near-squash match that supposedly ticked Vince off because of how stiff it was.
  8. Wow. This was so much fun. Negro Casas is absolutely incredible in this. I mean, it may be the most impressive individual performance so far on the set. Whoops. Wrong match. I meant to comment on the other 1 from earlier in the month.
  9. 1 of the real joys of this set so far has been this USWA stuff w/ the Moondogs. This was the feud of the year for '92 and I never saw much of it until now. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing a comp covering the feud as this has been great stuff.
  10. God damn this was great. I was only half paying attention at first because I thought it was a match I had seen before and within the past year. I kept noticing moments that I didn't remember and began to think, 'this was better than I remembered.' That thought eventually gave way to, 'wait a minute. i don't remember any of this. i haven't seen this before'. Awesome match and sort of a reverse Dragon Gate match. Instead of being structured around spots, this is structured around bumping and all the more entertaining because of it.
  11. I just watched the SWS Tokyo Dome show from 3/30/91. I may just be hopped up on coffee, but I thought this show had some matches worthy of consideration: Ted Dibiase & Haku vs. Kabuki & Ishikawa Masaharu Funaki vs. Naoki Sano Tenryu & Hulk Hogan vs. Road Warriors
  12. I can't see this being arguable. Top 5 is arguable. #1 all time most underrated is arguable. Top 20, however, I think we should all get in the habit of having Morton's name tossed around in the way that we do the other typical top 20 names.

  21. This was a pleasant surprise this morning. You made cleaning the house before the lady comes home from out of town a whole lot easier. Just finished the Rude show. It was great and here's some scattered thoughts: - I always thought few people had a clearer trajectory to being a great wrestler than Rude. I mean, this guy had master class after master class before graduating to great worker. Let's take a look: 1. Works the Memphis territory including Lawler. 2. Works Florida 3. Works World Class 4. Works JCP including teaming with 1 of the best, Manny Fernandez, against probably the best babyface tag team ever in the RNRX. 5. Upon arriving in WWF he feuds with Orndorff, Steamboat and Jake with Heenan in his corner for most of it. 1+2+3+4+5 = so good now that you can carry Ultimate Warrior to good matches then go to WCW and be the top heel. - I'm with Will on Dustin. I've been loving the Dustin comp. I'm not a fan at all of the Goldust character after its 1st couple years, but he is indeed still an incredible worker and one of the company's top 10. - You both seem to be in the lowly Bryan Alvarez camp on Cody Rhodes and I'm dumbfounded. I mean, for the past year or so Cody has, along with his brother, been 1 of my ten favorite guys to watch in WWE. - I'm surprised there isn't a bit more synergy between the Will/Naylor 'GoodWillWrestling' shows and the Naylor comps. Jake and the Steiners show up, but other than that I'm surprised that there isn't more of a representation of what was discussed in the months leading to the release of the comp. - On the subject of the Jake representation on the Naylor comp, is that Jake-Sting angle from 8/2/92 the Jake debut? If so, I may have to pick this up as Jake's WCW debut is an all-time favorite angle of mine and I was bummed to see that it was omitted from the Jake comp. Off to listen to the Schneider podcast. Thanks and keep up the great work.
  22. Well, I went a bit bonkers for Disc #5 of the Dustin set. So, I'd recommend: Dustin Rhodes, Nikita Koloff & Ricky Steamboat vs. Larry Zbyszko, Bobby Eaton & Arn Anderson (2/3 Falls WCWSN 5/23/92) My thoughts: Dustin Rhodes vs. Bobby Eaton (Power Hour 5/8/92) Thoughts: Great stuff and under 10 minutes.
