Guest MJHimJfadeaway23
I was watching his match this week on Raw, and over the last couple of years and he's just not "Great" anymore. His offense/moveset is stagnant, his psychology isn't there any more (Not enough working on specific areas, not continuing to work on the weak points of opponents), he wrestles the same style match with basically everyone, and just doesn't seem motivated much. He's still probably still one of the best workers on Raw, but he's not far and away the best talent in the business like he used to be. Your thoughts? Guest Some Guy
He's been WWE'd. He's been forced to adapt to the dumbed down style of WWE, which is a shame. I'm sure spinal fushion surgery and being 37 years-old doesn't help either.
goodhelmet
I, for one, would not be upset if Benoit called it a career. He had a nice and respected run and he should probably go home and take care of that freaky-looking kid of his.
Mad Dog
He's still consistently the best wrestler in the company. It's hard to gauge the guy though because it's the WWF. No one there is operating at full ability.
Guest Kevin Cook
Benoit hasn't been great for a really long time. He's still very good but he hasn't been the best wrestler in the company since 2000.

Mad Dog
It's not surprising considering the kids are getting Woman's genes.
Guest Bruiser Chong
His offense/moveset is stagnant, his psychology isn't there any more (Not enough working on specific areas, not continuing to work on the weak points of opponents) Uh oh, Loss is gonna have fun with this one. I don't watch enough to know what he's like now, but Benoit seemed to be in a rut the last several years. Few of his WWE matches ever made me really take notice. I think his time has passed and he should just give it up now before he becomes an even further shell of his former self.

Mad Dog
It's unfair to judge anyone by their WWF work. There are plenty of guys who are completely different workers when they can break out of the WWF style. Just look at D'Lo Brown's TNA run in 2003. I think if Benoit quit tomorrow and went back to Japan you'd see a big improvement.
Guest Some Guy
I agree. Since Austin took over the top spot everyone started getting forced into one style and now that they are training their own workers and HHH is on top it has gotten worse. I haven't seen much of D'Lo in TNA but I always thought he has way more talent than WWF allowed him to showcase. I really wish they would let Benoit lose for a little while, if he's still able and have him put on a clinic in a PPV match. I guarentee the match would be more over with the crowd than HHH's borefests.

Ray
I was watching his match this week on RawYou'd judge a wrestler based on a TWO MINUTE GARBAGE MATCH? and over the last couple of years and he's just not "Great" anymore.Benoit was outstanding in 2004, having good matches almost every week during his title reign. I rate his 2004 over anyone not named Kenta Kobashi. Benoit cooled off after that due to poor booking. Fewer opportunities to have quality matches. His offense/moveset is stagnantWWE is the most anti-moveset wrestling promotion ever. Hardly Benoit's fault. his psychology isn't there any more (Not enough working on specific areas, not continuing to work on the weak points of opponents)That psychology is all about working body parts is the greatest myth ever. he wrestles the same style match with basically everyone, and just doesn't seem motivated much.Everyone is restricted by the WWE style. He's still probably still one of the best workers on Raw, but he's not far and away the best talent in the business like he used to be.Well he was never "far and away the best talent in the business." For years he was one of the best in the world but there were plenty of others on the same level or higher (Misawa/Kobashi/Kawada/Liger/Austin/Guerrero/etc...). Your thoughts? There is a recent anti-Benoit trend spreading across the 'net. Not much too it. He's slowed down a bit but he still has the thing that's always made him great - intensity. Guest Some Guy
No, TJ (or whatever his name is) is cute in his own little kid way. Benoit's kids is really fucking strange looking. Have you seen WM 20? If so he comes into the ring after Benoit wins the title.

Loss
Benoit's selling is still awesome, and he still does some big high-risk moves, maybe more than he did at his peak even, and he's still intense. My problems with him is that he wrestles every match the same way lately, regardless of his opponent, whereas someone like Eddy Guerrero can adjust his style to fit his opponent, and does so on a regular basis. Benoit at this point would approach Rey Misterio and HHH the same way, and he's become more reliant on a formula full of German suplexes and the crossface than he should be. Outside of that, and the diving headbutt, there's just not much deviance in his style anymore.
