goodhelmet
More ECW PPV Notes: ---Dean Malenko won't be doing the show. He claims he has family commitments although he was never scheduled to wrestle. ---The major pushed storyline has little do with ECW (obviously) but all about politics. WWE wants the show to be a success cinse it is their idea and their business. The disappointment in the advance at the small Hammerstein Ballroom felt the show would not do well if left to its own devices. If it did well with no TV support and no WWE characters, what would that say about the current writing team? Now, the feeling is if it is a success, it is because of the angles on television and Vince gave it his stamp of approval. If it fails, it will not be blamed on fans not wanting this version of ECW but that ECW nostalgia is not enough to carry it. ---Meltz feels no one is going to buy the show because Vince is the owner or the angles on television. The only ones who care are the ones who are going to buy it anyway. ---People are claiming tha tthe angle with Heyman, McMahon, and Bischoff saved a show that would not have done well otherwise. Everyone is in agreement that the 5/16 angle with Coach, Tajiri, Benoit and Bischoff hurt the show. Notes on the Longest Yard: ---Kevin Nash, Steve Austin , Goldberg. Bob Sapp and Giant Singh all appear as key players in the movie. ---Nash was the star behind the scenes because of his comedic real-life personality, as wrestlers and football players partied for nearly three months when filming the movie. ---Singh, will possibly end up with a WWE deal because of his performance. Austin has spoken to McMahon about using Singh as well. Odds and Sods: ---Rey Mysterio sprained his ankle on 5/28 in Winnipeg in a match against Orlando Jordan and had to be helped to the back. He badly wants to do the ECW show but if he does wrestle, he will be limited in what he can do. ---Kidman had a knee injury on the same show. ---On 5/25 the Wall Street Journal had an article criticizing companyexecutives who abuse the use of company planes because the stockholders pay the cost. Vince was called out in the article and WWE was called "tiny World Wrestling ENtertainment Inc." ---John Cena's Cd dropped to #50 in its second week and fell out of the HITS charts completely in its third week. ---On the 5/30 RAW show, Flair arrived in Clagary and was told there was nothing written for him on the show. He was given permission to leave and left before taping started. Flair is also having real life financial issues because his gym business and gym in Raleigh are going bust. ---Knowing TNA is close to finalizing a TV deal, WWE is attempting to sign CM Punk, Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson. CM Punk was offered a developmental deal and would start in OVW. JOe was called by WWE but has not been offered anything yet. MEltz is not sure if they have found Danielson yet but Johnny Ace has been given the hurry up on him. ---Edge claims he and Matt Hardy still talk a couple of times a week. goodhelmet
Singh is virtually unknown in the U.S. but has been in New Japan for several years. He teamed up with Giant Silva. Singh is absolutely horrible in the ring. Singh is the one in the purple pants.
sek69
I'm sure Vince will come in his pants the first time he sees Singh too. --On the 5/30 RAW show, Flair arrived in Clagary and was told there was nothing written for him on the show. He was given permission to leave and left before taping started. Flair is also having real life financial issues because his gym business and gym in Raleigh are going bust. How sad is this, one of the all-time greats having money issues despite a brillant 30+ year career. HHH allegedly worships the guy so why doesn't he help a brother out? Al
Well, it doesn't say he's having money issues personally, just his business enterprises.
sek69
Well, it doesn't say he's having money issues personally, just his business enterprises. One usually follows the other, people with failing businesses don't tend to do well personally in the finance department.

JHawk
So basically, here's what I gather. 1. Nobody's buying tickets to the show because front row costs more than any other PPV outside of possibly WrestleMania. 2. They think it's a sign the show won't do well. 3. They decide to push the PPV around WWE superstars that have never set foot in an ECW ring. 4. True ECW fans are getting pissed. 5. WWE wants it to be a success because Stephanie McMahon's ego needs boosted. 6. The show is likely to bomb despite being guaranteed money in the bank. 7. They'll blame ECW and not WWE where it belongs. 8. ECW officially dies on June 12. I swear to God, hyenas could run that company better right now. I can understand using Vince as on-air owner as a way to explain ECW's existence after the Alliance lost the Winner Take All Match at Survivor Series 2001. Outside of that, this show should be about ECW and only about ECW. Anybody with half a brain can realize that. Sadly, Paul E. might be the only guy with half a brain left in that company.
