Loss
Can anyone explain why Shawn wasn't in the ring between Wrestlemania X and a Razor Ramon match on Raw that August? Also, does anyone know if he was just out selling the Sid injury post-WM 11 or if there was some other reason he was out? He had quite the sketchy record for a few years. Exposer
Well, as far as 94 goes apparently he was battling various injuries and just stuck to the Heartbreak Hotel segment. After WM XI, evidently Vince wanted Shawn to take time off so he could become face. This is all in Shawn's book and my knowledge stems from Wikipedia which sourced it. Take it or leave it but that is an interesting thought.
jdw
Yeah, injuries or a trip to rehab in 1994. He worked in the ring until the 4/11 tapings. He was "listed" for the May tour of Japan, but Martel subbed for him. He didn't appear back at the tapings until 5/23. Did the KOTR on 6/19 seconding Diesel in the title match with Bret. Worked the late June and early July tapings, then came back at the August 1 taping (Razor-Shawn). He was pretty flakey at the time, bailing out the year before (which is why they had the twin IC titles). John
Bob Morris
On the Bret/Shawn Greatest Rivalries DVD, they specifically stated that the reason for Shawn being stripped of the IC title the first time was that he failed a drug test. So, yeah, rehab was likely part of the reason Shawn didn't wrestle that much after his return.
Dooley
Nash has always said that HBK "found a reason" to take a couple of months off every year.
