Childs Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 This was fun without ever building to the intensity of a really great wager match. The third fall contained the most exciting stuff, with some especially nutty dives by Cometa. But it also fell into some of that "this match could be happening anywhere" vibe Loss has talked about with modern wrestling. A wager match is supposed to be the ultimate fight for honor and yet I never got the sense these guys were actually "fighting." The lack of blood was part of that. Without any great brawling, the dives really had to carry the water for the whole spectacle. I enjoyed the subplot of Cometa and Stuka almost blowing it with miscommunication. Quote
Loss Posted April 11, 2014 Author Report Posted April 11, 2014 Yes, I agree with Childs once again. I did enjoy this match and would even call it really good, but I don't think it was an elite pick. The third fall was excellent and I thought they did a really good job of getting over the desperation not to lose hair, but this was often a collection of highspots more than it was a real war. Quote
