Loss
Previously at PWO: The Miz vs John Morrison (WWE Monday Night RAW 01/03/11, Falls Count Anywhere)This is the kind of match I've been waiting to see in the few matches I've watched for 2011 - something where the guys are going after each other like they really don't like each other instead of just running through a series of rehearsed moves. This was surprisingly GREAT (yes, GREAT!), especially for a guy like Morrison who I always saw as more of a highspot guy. He still does the impressive athletic stuff in this, but first and foremost, he's working a match that makes sense and builds to the big moves in an effective way. Much better match than I would have expected, with Miz looking like a tough champion for winning such an aggressive match and Morrison looking good for pushing the champion to the limit. Some really excellent nearfalls in this. Miz really looked like a good champion here and this is the best match I suspect I'll ever see either guy have. I really like that match. The 2 count nearfall after Morrison goes through the table on the outside is the last nearfall I bought as the finish and didn't see the kickout coming. It didn't matter since he was finished off basically right after but still it was nice to be fooled once. I haven't seen it since it aired but I remember thinking there were some disastrously awful moments in that match, but it redeemed itself with a great finish It was a great finish, but I was surprised in that I didn't really catch any awful moments at all. I was surprised at how good their stuff looked.
Superstar Sleeze
WWE Champion The Miz vs John Morrison - RAW 1/3/11 Falls Count Anywhere WWE kicks off 2011 with an early WWE Match of the Year Contender, John Morrison continues to impress. The more I watch, the more I think WWE really dropped the ball with this kid. I know his promos tended to suck but there had to be a way around that because he is damn good in the ring. This is one of the better brawls in the modern era. Tons of great punches and kicks. I love how Morrison is stepping through his punches and kicks. I love that punches are the bulk of his offense! Great shine where Morrison looks like a world-beater kicking two guys' asses at the same time. Alex Riley kept coming and Morrison kept dishing it out. The dive off the WWE Logo was a great highspot in the shine. The Shining Wizard was a great climax to the shine with Riley pulling Morrison out. Morrison proceeded to beat the Holy Hell out of Riley. Hitting a Shining Wizard on the barricade to send him packing. Insanely great shine! Morrison was damn good. We come back from commercial and Miz back drops Morrison on a railing. Great transition spot. Miz does a great job working heat on Morrison. Vicious kneelift to the head and ramming Morrison in the head with hard objects. Strong Morrison comeback. Just great energy from this dude. Good finisher teases late here. The finish was insane. Morrison puts himself through a table on the outside using Starship Pain. PAIN! Seriously it looked amazing. I wish it was the finish, but Morrison kicked out and then Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win. Awesome, awesome brawl. Great pace. Morrison looked amazing as a brawler. Who the hell knew that? Miz was no slouch either. He made Morrison look like a million bucks early and late. Cant say enough about this. Check it out! ****1/
Makai Club #1
Well, this delivered. On an extremely high level, too. A great start to the match with Morisson making use of the giant WWE sign on the stage by jumping off it. A great use of tables. A nice fast and heavy paced action throughout. Miz looked great and Morrison looked even better. ****
