Vince is back out with the Winged Eagle (because not all eagles have wings I guess) belt and brings out the Undertaker and Kane separately. Just as Austin is about to state who the champion is, Austin drives through the backstage area on a beer truck and ends up driving to the ring in a zamboni in an iconic moment. He does the clothesline off the top and starts punching Vince and the heat is through the roof. Austin gets arrested but manages to flip Vince off on the way out. Classic segment.

The Smoking Skull is a thing of the past as the WInged Eagle is back red carpet and all. In one of the first segments of what would be an iconic run of Raw, Austin comes in on a Zamboni truck and clothesline VInce to the fury of the fans. Great stuff.

One of the all-time high points of Raw, and even for a hot company this feels like the hottest it's been in months. Austin is back to being *dangerous* again, like he was in 1997. There's no hell yeahs, no turnbuckle posing, no pandering...just a straight-up asskicker who doesn't care. And then we get a gear shift as Vince decides to go back on his word to Undertaker and Kane and force them to fight for the title at Judgment Day with Austin as referee, then also throws them into a handicap tag match tonight for good measure. Everyone in this segment is absolutely awesome, but it might be Vince's best performance since his initial heel run in May. I love how he sells the Austin beating all the way through his second promo.

  • GSR changed the title to [1998-09-28-WWF-Raw] Vince McMahon and Steve Austin
