Loss
Fuyuki isn't as good as Masato Tanaka or anything, but even this late, despite being old and slow, he's very good at pacing a match. I thought this was tremendous. I also think it's the type of match that those who haven't gotten into Hayabusa before will really enjoy, as Fuyuki sort of forces him to wrestle his type of match. This resembles a Tenryu match as much as it does anything else, with Fuyuki coming across as a poor man's version of Tenryu, Choshu or Hashimoto. This is a nice slow, stiff match with a bunch of lariats and other high-impact moves, and Fuyuki's win really makes him look like's pulled off something impressive. Great match! soup23
Great match here. Fuyuki has become one of my sentimental favorites and had a much better career in my eyes than he gets credit for. Hayabusa did tone down stuff here which made the match better overall and I loved how Fuyuki forced him to work his pace of the match. The finish was deeply dramatic and felt like Fuyuki really weathered the storm to come away with the hard fought victory. (****)
PeteF3
Nope. Was one of those not-into-Hayabusa people before and I'm still not, Fuyuki's best efforts aside. I didn't care about or bite on any of the near falls and FMW main event style still comes off as 2.9 wrestling--guy takes a big move, acts dead, then suddenly kicks out. On to the next move until one arbitrarily ends the match. I'm still waiting for one of these FMW title matches to surprise me on *any* level--a predictable result or booking tactic is one thing, but I'm still calling out exactly what's going to happen before it does, almost every time. Also, for a guy who's "toning it down," Fuyuki really, really needs to stop trying shit like power bombs off the turnbuckle.
