He says he knew The Shield were great, that is why he enlisted them. He continues to run each guy down until the Shield hit the ring. It's was actually a great moment, Hunter was mid-speech and they snuck in off camera. Somehow they snuck by the crowd because there was no noise prior to Hunter getting hit.
