January 4, 1984 NJPWバトル侵略グローバル攻撃レスリングドリーム！ AFTERNOON SHOW TWENTY MAN BATTLE ROYAL!!! Abdullah Tamba, Adrian Street, Baby Face, Chick Donovan, Chicky Starr, Cuban Assassin, Evil Machine, Fumihiro Niikura, Gran Hamada, Haruka Eigen, Hercules Ayala, Johnny Powers, Kazuo Yamazaki, Masanobu Kurisu, Mike Masters, Osamu Kido, Ryuma Go, Shunji Kosugi, Spike Huber, Tatsutoshi Goto: Each wrestler is introduced individually. The Japanese stars received the biggest ovations. Before the match started, Abdullah Tamba and Hercules Ayala started brawling so it took a while for them to enter the ring as the first crowd brawl of the night takes place before the bell even rings. Cuban Assassin and Chicky Starr walk down together. Chicky is on crutches and indicates he cannot compete so there will only be 19 wrestlers. Chick Donovan is covered completely in gold and tries to do a pose off with Adrian Street who has his S&M attire but when he spreads his cape, a huge Japanese flag appears and the crowd roars with approval. Johnny Powers gets a nice ovation as fans acknowledge his appearance from wrestling in Japan in decades past. Baby Face comes out in full Mexican regalia with sombrero, pancho and bandolier. 1st Elimination: Once all of the guys are in, Mean Mike Masters stands in the middle of the ring and begins to slap all of the wrestlers. Once the bell rings, the entire group gang up and tosses Masters immediately. 2nd Elimination: Hercules Ayala overpowers Fumihiro Niikura and whips him across the ring where Evil machine backdrops Niikura out of the ring. 3rd Elimination: Spike Huber and Chick Donovan are locked in the corner. Donovan gives Huber a low blow and Donovan and Abdullah Tamba toss Huber out. 4th Elimination: Donovan and Tamba give each other a big hug. As they are hugging, Hercules Ayala charges with a clothesline. Donovan sees Ayala charging and ducks as Ayala’s clothesline knocks Tamba out of the ring. 5th & 6th Elimination: Old rivals, Johnny Powers and Haruka Eigen, are locked to each other. As they struggle for position against each other, Evil Machine and Cuban Assassin team up and toss out the veterans at the same time. 7th Elimination: Masanobu Kurisu was squaring off against Kazuo Yamazaki when both wrestlers were ambushed by Cuban Assassin and Evil Machine. Yamazaki crumbled to the ground. Assassin whips Kurisu into Evil Machine who pancakes Kurisu out of the ring. 8th Elimination: Osamu Kido squares off against Tatsutoshi Goto. Kido is about to slam Goto out of the ring when he is from behind by Ryuma Go. Go tosses Kido out of the ring as Goto is holding on outside the apron. 9th Elimination: Goto is hanging on for dear life when Gran Hamada catapults off of Hercules Ayala’s back and dropkicks Goto off the apron. 10th Elimination: Donovan tries to capitalize on the situation and attempts to toss Hamada out but Hamada blocks and does a spinning head scissors to whip Donovan into the back of Shunji Kosugi. Kosugi goes flying to the ropes and Ayala catapults Kosugi out of the ring and on to Goto and Kido who were fighting outside of the ring. 11th Elimination: Chick Donovan starts celebrating, turns around and goes face to face with Ayala who lifts Donovan up and military presses Donovan on to the Goto, Kido, Kosugi pile. 12th Elimination: Gran Hamada sees Ayala standing next to the ropes and an opportunity. He flies towards Ayala who drops to the ground and Hamada flies out of the ring onto the pile outside. 13th Elimination: Baby Face looks at the pile outside and forgetting this was a Battle Royal. Baby Face bounces off the ropes and hits his La Canonera move over the ropes and onto the outside pile. Baby Face eliminates himself. 14th Elimination: Six wrestlers left and they pair off. Kazuo Yamazaki and Cuban Assassin are fighting with Assassin choking Yamazaki with the ropes. Evil Machine stomped Ayala in the corner and then helps Assassin toss Yamazaki from the ring. 15th Elimination: Shortly after, Adrian Street, who was fighting with Ryuma Go was thrown to the ropes. Street sits on the middle rope and as Ryuma Go charges, he pulls the top rope down and Go flies out of the ring. 16th Elimination: After Go flies out of the ring, Chicky Starr stands up, grabs his crutches and runs into the ring. Starr isn’t hurt!!! He attacks Adrian with the crutch and Street falls to the mat. He turns his attention to Ayala. Cuban Assassin, Evil Machine and Starr all stomp and club Ayala. Starr is smashing the crutches to pieces on Ayala who is now bleeding. Assassin and Star pick Ayala up, whip him into Evil Machine who back drops Ayala out of the ring. 17th Elimination: Assassin and Starr hug it out. As they are hugging, Starr motions for Evil Machine to come behind Cuban Assassin. Chicky Starr and Evil Machine toss Assassin out of the ring. Assassin realizes he has been double-crossed and throws a fit outside. He doesn’t have time to recover as Ayala attacks him on the outside and the two brawl to the back. 18th Elimination: Evil Machine and Starr are beating the hell out of Street. They double team him with a Double backbreaker and a Double Suplex. Machine picks Street up and drops Street abdomen first on the knee of Starr. They both grab a side of Street’s hair to ttoss him out of the ring. Street holds on to the ropes and does a rolling flip back into the middle of the ring. At the same time, Starr flies to the outside of the apron as Machine holds on to keep him from going over. Street dropkicks Evil Machine into Starr and Starr is eliminated. 19th Elimination: Starr is yelling at Machine for his screw-up. Evil Machine is trying to apologize but as Evil Machine is leaning over the ropes talking to Starr, Street runs behind him and lifts him voer the top and Evil Machine goes crashing into Chicky on the outside. Miss Linda runs into the ring and helps Adrian to his feet. Starr and Evil Machine argue on their way to the back as Street poses and celebrates in the ring. WINNER: Adrian Street in 15:44 after eliminating Evil Machine +++ TONGA KID (JCP) vs. KANTARO HOSHINO The Tonga Kid gets one of the most exciting entrances ever seen to this point. 10 fire breathers and members of the Tongan family escort him to the ring. The crowd “oohs” and “ahhs” at the sight of Polynesian drummers and dancers. Hoshino tries to grab one of the twirling fire sticks and quickly releases, acting like he is burned, as the crowd roars in laughter. Once the bell rings, both men criss and cross fast and feverishly, until Tonga hits a leap frog and nails Hoshino with a back handed chop. He attempts to leap on Hoshino but Hoshino rolls out of the way and gets a flash spin pin attempt. Tonga grabs an arm and runs around Hoshino and slams the arm to the mat with Hoshino following and crashing as well. Tonga hooks the arm and keeps Hoshino grounded. Hoshino makes his way up, escapes and hooks in a headlock. Hoshino attempts his patented headlock punches but injures his hand on the hard skull of Tonga. Hoshino grabs Tonga and gives him a headbutt. Tonga shows no effects and Hoshino tries it a couple of more times but he stumbles from the effect. The crowd laughs and Tonga grabs Hoshino and nails him with a leaping headbutt, knocking him to the mat. Tonga goes to the top and leaps but Hoshino nails a dropkick while Tonga is in mid-air. Hoshino recovers and uses an O’Connor Roll for two. Both men trade pin attempts and Hoshino tries to put it away with a second rope dropkick but misses. Tonga leaps up and nails a standing jumping headbutt from the top rope. He goes back to the top, flies through the air and nails Hoshino with a Flying Samoan Splash for the three count. WINNER: Tonga Kid in 8:45 with the Flying Samoan Splash +++ SEIJI SAKAGUCHI & KENGO KIMURA vs. BOBBY EATON & TOM PRITCHARD w/ JIM CORNETTE (ALABAMA) The Heavenly Bodies are escorted to the ring by Jim Cornette. Cornette threatens fans on the way to the ring as “Heart & Soul” by Huey Lewis and the News is blaring over the speakers. Inside the ring, Cornette gets in the face of Sakaguchi, mouths off and ends up being slapped in the face for his disrespect. All four men immediately begin brawling but the natives take control on Prichard. Sakaguchi slams him to the mat and drops a big knee to the face. Prichard hits the ropes but gets caught by Sak who hits him with the atomic drop. Kimura tags in and punishes Prichard with his lightning strikes. Kimura whips Prichard to the ropes, Eaton tags Prichard’s back right before Prichard gets nailed with a dropkick. Kimura celebrates but Eaton delivers a flying clothesline to Kimura as Prichard rolls out of the ring. Eaton spend several minutes working over the neck of Kimura. Kimura attempts an escape but Eaton turns a front chancery into a swinging neckbreaker. Prichard and Eaton would take turns tagging in Kimura just punishing the neck. After a nasty 2nd rope knee drop to the neck from Prichard, he hooks in a chinlock. Sakaguchi breaks it up with a running foot to Prichard’s face and the match breaks down. Eventually, Kimura tags in Sakaguchi who cleans house on both men. Prichard gets taken out with a nasty boot to the face. Eaton gets caught with a back body drop and gets hooked into an Argentine backbreaker. Cornette jumps up on the apron and distracts the referee. Prichard nails Sakaguchi in the back with the tennis racket. The ref counts… 1…. 2… Kimura leaps to break the count. Even with the setback, the Bodies continue the assault on Sak. Prichard tags in and tries to put it away with a Piledriver. Sak backdrops Prichard instead and makes the hot tag to Kimura. Kimura runs in, hops over Prichard and knocks Eaton off the apron. He attacks Prichard with a flurry of punches and hooks in a Piledriver. He gets a two count but Eaton breaks up the count. All four men are in the ring. The referee tries to separate Kimura and Eaton allowing Cornette to knock Sak senseless with the racket. Sak is out and the Bodies double team Kimura. Cornette distracts the referee and Eaton goes to the top with the racket. He leaps and accidentally nails Prichard. As Eaton realizes what he’s done, he gets knocked out of the ring by a Lightning Leg Lariat from Kimura who pins Prichard for the three count and the victory. Afterwards, the antives celebrate as the Heavenly Bodies argue in the ring. Cornette throws a temper tantrum in the ring and Eaton and Prichard comfort their manager. WINNERS: Seiji Sakaguchi & Kengo Kimura in 16:40 when Kimura pinned Prichard +++ DUTCH MANTEL (Memphis) vs. MAKOTO ARAKAWA Dutch keeps Arakawa at a distance, snapping his trusted whip “Shoo-Baby”. Once the bell rings, Dutch and Arakawa go nose to nose. Neither man is backing down. They begin pushing each other with their foreheads and the smaller, bulldog-like Arakawa backs Dutch into the corner. They go back to the middle of the ring and Dutch hooks the arm in an armbar hold. Once he hits the ground, Dutch drops a leg on the arm and hooks the arm again. Arakawa gets to his feet with Dutch attached to his arm and nails Dutch with some forearm shots and strikes with a bodyslam. Dutch leaps up and attacks but Arakawa takes him down with a judo throw. Dutch leaps up and throws a clothesline but Arakawa ducks and hooks Dutch with a Backslide for two. Arakawa hears the cheers from the fans and starts elbowing Dutch in the back. Dutch reverses and finally hits that lariat. Dutch goes back to the arm and keeps Arakawa down by putting his knee to the side of Arakawa’s face. Arakawa tries to get up but Dutch is putting the pressure on. Arakawa tries lifting again but Dutch leaps up and smashes Arakawa down again with the force of his weight. Arakawa tries to lift again and as Dutch leaps again, Arakawa lifts him With Dutch straddled to his back, still locked in the armbar and rams Dutch into the turnbuckle. Arakawa unloads his offensive arsenal. He strikes with his uppercuts. He hits a German Suplex for a two count. He lifts him and does a falling Belly to Belly Suplex for another two count. He whips Dutch into the ropes and as Arakawa springs off the opposite ropes, Dutch hits Arakawa square in the face with a dropkick. Dutch then whips Arakawa to the ropes and Arakawa counters with a Flying Shoulder Tackle. He picks Dutch up, whips him into the ropes for a Back Body Drop, Dutch hits the Sunset Flip and gets the three count. Dutch grabs Shoo Baby and gets the hell out of Dodge, knowing he dodged a bullet. WINNER: Dutch Mantell in 10:30 with a Sunset Flip +++ BAD NEWS ALLEN (DETROIT) vs. BRET HART (STAMPEDE) These two are old rivals from the Stampede territory and immediately lay into each other with stiff shots. Both men pummel each other with punches and chops. Eventually, the action goes to the outside and Allen rams Bret into the ringside barrier. Allen whips Bret into the ringpost and follows with a big headbutt. Bret has his back to the ringpost and Allen attempts another headbutt but hits the ringpost. In the ring, both men are bleeding and punching each other to force more blood to flow. Bret gets Allen in the corner and rams Allen’s head into the corner multiple times. Allen blocks Bret and takes him down with a judo throw. As Bret gets up, Allen attempts the Ghetto Blaster but misses. Bret picks Allen up and hits a backbreaker for a nearfall. Bret then hooks Allen into a Boston Crab and Allen makes the ropes. Allen crawls outside the ring and Bret follows. Both men go back to brawling and the referee attempts to break them apart. Both men end up striking the referee and they both end up disqualified. Both men continue to fight until they end up in the back of the arena. WINNER: Both men were disqualified and the match was thrown out at 9:38 +++ MASKED SUPERSTAR, ADRIAN ADONIS & DICK MURDOCH (MID-SOUTH) vs. MR. SAITO, ISAMU TERANISHI & YOSHIAKI YATSU All six men begin brawling and eventually the ring is cleared with Superstar and Saito remaining. These two men refuse to back down and lay into each other with big fists and headbutts. Superstar slams Saito. Saito responds with a Headbutt. They punch each other back into the corner of the Americans. Murdoch comes in and hits his big bionic elbows. Saito responds with hard chops across the chest. They struggle and land in the Japanese corner. Yatsu comes in and they double team Dick. After a Double Suplex, Yatsu piledrives Murdoch for a two count. Yatsu hits a running knee and tags in Teranishi. Teranishi controls for a moment with his Judo slaps and whips Dick to the ropes for a Dropkick. Murdoch tries to make the tag but is cut off. Teranishi whips Dick again for a Back drop but Dick gets a Sunset Flip for a two count. Teranishi charges at Dick but Dick cuts him off with a drop toe hold and tags in Adonis who drops the knee on Teranishi’s leg. The Americans take turns tagging in and out, cutting off the ring and working on Isamu’s knee. Superstar tags in and as he tries to hook a Boston Crab, Teranishi nails hooks his leg and tries a leg lock to the Superstar. He breaks the lcok and finally makes the tag to Saito. Saito charges and nails Superstar with a lariat. He picks him up and hits a Falling German Suplex for two. He picks him up and hits a headbutt. Superstar stumbles but as Saito charges into the corner, Superstar rams him into the ringpost. Adonis tags in and hits Saito with a Backbreaker for two. He tries to hook in Goodnight Irene but Saito falls back into the Japanese corner. Teranishi comes in and hits Adonis with the Waterwheel Drop for two. He slams Adonis to the mat but misses a 2nd rope elbow. Adonis tags in Murdoch and Dick hooks in a Brainbuster to end Teranishi’s misery. Saito breaks it up. Adonis jumps in to fight alongside Murdoch but Superstar is shown adjusting his mask in the corner. The Japanese have the advantage and Saito hits Adonis with a Saito Suplex that sends him to the floor in pain. Saito drags Teranishi back to the corner where Yatsu tags in. This allows Superstar to tag in Superstar. Superstar lariats Teranishi to the floor and the remaining four men fight in the ring. Saito headbutts Dick to the ropes and flips him over the ropes and out of the ring. He turns and headbutts Superstar but Saito is stunned. Superstar hits Saito with a headbutt and tosses him out of the ring. Yatsu charges at Superstar ut Superstar counters with a powerslam. He picks Yatsu up, whips him to the ropes and drops him with a Running Headbutt. He grabs Yatsu by the hair,picks him up and hits his Swinging Neck Breaker for the three count. WINNERS: Masked Superstar, Adrian Adonis and Masked Superstar in 17:16 after Superstar hit Yatsu with his Swinging Neck Breaker +++ RANDY SAVAGE (CROCKETT) vs. BUDDY ROSE (AWA) (2/3 Falls) Buddy comes down to the ring to Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” and swivels his hips as he enters the ring. The lights go down for Savage’s entrance as he enters to Irene Cara’s “Fame”. When he enters the ring, a spotlight shines on Savage who is wearing a golden headband, black and gold robe with a huge dragon on the back. Savage had never worked Japan before this but he has a spectacular entrance to announce his arrival. 1ST FALL: Rose and Savage start fast and furious. Savage grabs Rose’s hair, leaps over the top rope and Buddy’s neck crashes on the top rope and he springs back onto the mat. Savage leaps up to the top turnbuckle, Buddy stands up grasping his throat and Savage hits his Double Axe Handle. Savage gets a quick two count and hooks in the headlock. Rose tries for several minutes to escape the headlock. He gets some pin attempts and even tries a head scissors. Rose finally escapes and tries to drop an elbow but Savage rolls out of the way. As Rose stands up, Savage throws his patented jabs and the last one sends Rose to the ropes. Rose falls through the ropes and the only thing keeping him from hitting the floor outside is his feet caught on the middle rope. Savage kicks the rope and Rose goes crashing outside. Savage leaps over the top rope and flings Buddy into the barricade. Savage charges but Rose shoots Savage over the barricade and into the front row with a back drop. Buddy rolls into the ring to recover and Savage barley beats the 20 count into the ring. Buddy starts punishing Savage with elbows to the back and hooks on a Camel Clutch. Rose punishes Savage by nailing him with elbows straight across his face. Rose slams Randy’s face to the mat and dances around the ring. He runs the ropes and kicks Savage in the head. Rose gets down and starts doing one armed sit-ups to show off. While he was doing the sit-ups, Savage helped himself up and as Rose is doing a sit-up, Savage leaps onto Rose with a big Knee Drop. He picks Rose up, gives him a hard Body Slam and sets him up in the middle of the ring. Savage goes to the top, flies through the air and nails Buddy with the Flying Elbow Drop. Savage gets the first pin in 11:22 2ND FALL: Savage continues punishing Buddy early on. Knees to the back leave Buddy howling in pain. Savage whips Buddy to the ropes, Buddy tries a sunset flip but Randy punches him in his face. Savage sits on Buddy and gets a two count. Savage grabs Buddy’s hair, points to the crowd and rams his head into the top turnbuckle, then he slams his head into the middle turnbuckle and then finally he rams him into the bottom turnbuckle. The crowd roars with delight. Buddy is a crumpled mess in the corner. Savage runs to the other side of the ring, charges at Buddy and hopes to smash him while down. Buddy lifts his foot up and nails Savage with a boot to the nuts. Savage drops to the mat. The referee was on the other side and did not see the low blow. Rose recovers and tries to whip Randy into the corner but Randy reverses the Irish Whip. He charges again at Buddy and leaps knee first but Buddy moves and Randy’s knee smashes into the corner. Savage is grasping at his knee and Buddy smells blood. He alternates between hitting elbow drops and knee drops to Savage’s knee. He lifts Savage and hits a shin breaker. Buddy runs the ropes and does a falling headbutt to the leg. Savage tries fighting Buddy off but he falls short. Buddy kicks the leg several times and Buddy hooks in a Figure Four Leg Lock. Savage tries to turn the move over but Buddy keeps the pressure on. Savage has to give up. Buddy wins the 2nd fall in 7:01 3RD FALL: Buddy continues to assault the knee. Savage can barely stand. Savage, on one leg, fights back with his patented jabs but Buddy kicks Randy’s good leg from underneath and Savage is back on the mat. Buddy looks for praise from the crowd but the crowd boos and Buddy attacks the knee even more. Buddy tosses Savage outside and gives him a Body Slam on the concrete floor. He props Savage up against the barricade and goes to the top turnbuckle. He raises his hands to the air, mocking Savage, and tries a double axe handle from the top but Savage moves and Buddy crashes into the barricade. Savage rolls into the ring, barely able to stand from the pain in his leg. Buddy beats the twenty count but Savage nails him with punch after punch, the last one sending Buddy flat on his back. Savage gets a two count. Savage picks Buddy up, tries to slam him but he can’t lift him with his bad leg. Buddy tries to hit a Backdrop Driver but Savage flips out and hooks a school boy pin for a two count. Savage punches Buddy again but Buddy hooks Savage’s arm and gets a backslide for two. Both men are down but as Savage is getting up, Buddy dives and takes out Savage’s knee. Buddy raises his hands in victory and goes for the figure-four again but Savage hooks him in a Small Package… 1…2…3 and Savage wins the third fall in 6:40 WINNER: Randy Savage in 25:03 with a Small Package, winning the match 2-1 +++ DUSTY RHODES (FLORIDA) vs. ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER Dusty comes to the ring with his big fur coat and is hugging the fans as he makes the way to the ring. Abdullah the Butcher meets Dusty in the aisle way and Dusty never makes it to the ring. Both men end up brawling through the crowd. It doesn’t take long before Abby pulls out the fork and starts stabbing Dusty in the head. Dusty is fighting with his coat on through the crowd. Dusty hits several bionic elbows and Abby slips on the floor and goes down. After several minutes of brawling, they finally make their way to the ring. Dusty still has his coat on and Abby chokes Dusty with the tape coming off of his hands. Abby pulls off the coat and Dusty’s arms are trapped. Abby grabs the fork and stabs Dusty in the head again. Both men are bleeding and Dusty crumples into the corner. Abby chokes Dusty some more and hooks on a nerve hold. Dusty’s coat eventually falls to the mat and he is free. After a few minutes of fighting out of the nerve hold, Dusty makes a comeback and nails Abby with his offense… bionic elbows, big elbow drops, followed by a 2nd rope elbow drop. Abby grabs his fork but Dusty takes it form him and Dusty stabs Abby with his own weapon. Dusty tries one more falling elbow but Abby moves. Abby hits a big splash and gets a two count. Both men are back on their feet and brawl more on the outside. Abby tries to whip Dusty into the barricade but Dusty counters and Abby goes back first into the barricade. Dusty rolls into the ring and the bell rings. Dusty wins the match. WINNER: Dusty Rhodes in 14:04 by Count Out +++ TATSUMI FUJINAMI © vs. BOB BACKLUND – WWF International Heavyweight Title Both men have arrived and stand in honor of the National Anthems. They shake hands and the match begins. IT starts slowly with both men going in and out of holds on the mat. At one point, Fujinami has a side headlock and Backlund lifts Fujinami, carries him to the turnbuckle and sets him on the ringpost, facing the crowd. At another point, Backlund has a hammerlock on, Fujinami reverses and then slaps on a Dragon Sleeper that forces Backlund to panic and fight to reach the ropes. Eventually, Backlund takes control and hooks in his headlock. Fujinami attempts to counter and pin Backlund but Bob maintains control. After a few minuites working in and out of the headlock, Fujinami shoots Bob to the ropes, drops down and Nails Bob with a dropkick that sends Bob flying outside. Fujinami follows with a Dragon Rocket to the outside, crushing Bob against the barricade. The Japanese crowd roars with approval. Inside, Bob is damaged and Fujinami gives a nod to his feud with Choshu and hooks Bob in the Scorpion Lock. Bob screams in pain and fights to make it to the ropes. Fujinami kicks Bob but Bob fights back and after missing a spinning kick, Bob hits Fujinami with an Atomic Drop for a two count. Bob unloads on Fujinami with a Piledriver for another two count. Bob attempts a dead lift German Suplex but Fujinami hooks Bob’s legs into a rolling cradle for a counter pin for two. Both men continue to throw bombs at each other, hoping each move will be the last. Bob nails a Suplex but Fujinami counters with a backbreaker. Bob hits a Bell to Belly Suplex for two but Fujinami responds with an Enziguiri that knocks Bob senseless. Neither man can be counted down for three. At one point, Bob tries an O’Connor Roll on Fujinami but he holds onto the ropes. Bob uses his power to nail the Deadlift Release German Suplex. Fujinami was done but his foot drapes over the bottom rope for the near save. Bob wants to take this home and hooks Fujinami for another Suplex but Fujinami counters with a Northern Light’s Suplex for two. Both men crumple to the ground. Fujinami lifts Bob and hooks on the Dragon Sleeper again. In an incredible display of strength and balance, Bob lifts Fujinami off his feet while Fujinami still has the sleeper hooked and Bob lifts him for a powerslam to break the hold. Bob picks Fujinami up, whips him to the ropes and goes for a Back Body Drop but Fujinami leaps over Bob,hooks his arms from behind and hits his Dragon Suplex for the three. The battle is over and Fujinami has won. Both men stay on the mat as the young boys come in and attempt to revive them. Fujinami and Backlund shake hand and raise their arms in victory as the crowd showers them with cheers. Takada is trying to lock the strikes but keeps getting hit by the blows. After a barrage of kicks, Takada grabs Kobayashi’s leg and twitst it into an ankle lock. He hooks the feet and turns the lock into an STF. Kobayashi struggles to make the ropes and once Takada breaks, Kobayashi bails outside to regroup. As Kobayashi climbs back on the apron, Takada charges and nails him with a knee to the face, shooting Kobayashi to the barricade. Kobayashi tries several more times but Takada keeps striking him back to the ground. For the time being, Takada is King of the Mountain. Takada tries it one more time but Kobayashi dodges the knee and leaps to hit an Enziguiri from the apron. Kobayashi hops in the ring and takes Takada’s head off with a running kick. Several spin kicks later and Takada is on the ground. Kobayashi hooks on headlock and keeps Takada grounded. Takadafights to his feet and breaks the headlock with a Backdrop Suplex. As they both make their way to their feet, Takada charges but gets nailed with a Super Kick to the face. Kobayashi covers for a two count. Kobayashi picks him up and goes for another Super Kick but Takada dodges, hooks the arm, spins around and takes Kobayashi down with a Cross Arm Breaker. Kobayashi tries to block the move but is unsuccessful. He has to reach the ropes with his feet to break the move. Kuniaki’s arm is damaged. Takada tries to capitalize with a running heel kick but Kobayashi dodges and hits his Fisherman’s Suplex. However, he can’t hook the arms because of his damaged arm so Takada kicks out. Both men struggle to get up and as Takada turns around, Kobayashi nails him with a 2nd Super Kick for the pin. WINNER: Kuniaki Kobayashi in 15:33 with a Super Kick to retain the WWF World Jr. Heavyweight Title +++ RON STARR vs. EL GRAN APOLLO El Gran Apollo walks to the ring and is hugging every Japanese girl he can find on his way to the ring. Ron Starr walks to the ring and as he tries to hug the Japanese girls, they run away from him. In the ring, Starr attacks Apollo before he can even take off his ring jacket and tosses him out of the ring. They brawl around the floor and as Starr is in control, he points to a Japanese female fan, slaps Apollo and gives him a kiss! He throws Apollo around and gets him back in the ring. Starr keeps punching Apollo and drops a knee for a two count. Starr picks him up and hits his low-angle German Suplex for another two. He tries to finish it off with his Rotten Leg Sweep but Apollo shoots Starr to the ropes and nails him with his Flying Forearm. Starr is on the ground and Apollo leaps and hooks him into an STF. Starr fights to the ropes and Apollo leaps up and whips him to the ropes for a dropkick but Starr holds the ropes and Apollo falls to the mat. Starr hits a Running Knee Lift for two. He hooks Apollo for a Rotten Leg Sweep but Apollo rolls both men over into a pinning combo for two. Starr kicks out and as he stand sup, Apollo shoots him to the ropes and spikes Starr with the Springboard Monkey Flip. Apollo leaps to the top, Starr stands up and is hit with the Flying Body Press for the three count. WINNER: El Gran Apollo in 7:57 with the Flying Body Press +++ BOB SWEETAN (AWA) vs. RUSHER KIMURA Sweetan and Kimura run at each other and just pummel each other in the face. Kimura unloads chops and sends Sweetan into the corner. Sweetan mounts a defense and fights back with punches to the face. A stiff punch sends Kimura to the ropes and Sweetan hits a Lariat as Kimura rebounds. Sweetan gets a two count. Sweetan puts Kimura in a headlock and Bob smashes Rusher’s head against the knee. Rusher crumbles to the grounds and Bob signals for the Piledriver. Rusher blocks the pileriver and Kimura escapes and slaps the taste out of Bob’s mouth. A kick to the gut and Kimura hooks in the arms for the Butterfy Suplex. One… Two… Sweetan kicks out. Rusher whips Bob to the ropes and nails the Rusher Lariat. Another two-count and Rusher picks Bob up. Bob fights back with punches to Kimura’s face. His last punch wobbles Kimura and his knees buckle. Bob drops and elbow for two. Bob nails Kimura in the face with a forearm and hooks in… the Butterfly Suplex. Bob only gets two and shows his anger. He starts stomping Rusher but Rusher grabs his boot to block. Kimura makes his way to his feet, holding Bob’s boot and attempts an Enziguiri. Bob ducks, grabs Rusher and nails his Piledriver. Not satisfied, he picks Rusher up one more time and the 2nd Piledriver end the match. WINNER: Bob Sweetan in 8:06 after executing two Piledrivers +++ BLACK TIGER (ENGLAND), DAVEY BOY SMITH & DYNAMITE KID (STAMPEDE) vs. EL CANEK, PERRO AGUAYO (MEXICO) & THE COBRA (STAMPEDE) This starts off like a traditional lucha match with each guy squaring off againt an opponent. First, Black Tiger and Cobra flip and run at a breakneck speed, Both men get quick pins and both flip out of various holds. After Black Tiger flips out of an armbar, both men are at a stalemate and tag out. Dynamite and Perro face off and they attack each other with stiff strikes. Dynamite nails Perro with stiff forearms while Perro counters with open hand slaps to Dynamite’s chest. Dynamite shoots off the ropes and tries knocking Perro off his feet with a shoulder tackle but Perro shoots off the ropes and nails Dynamite with a running Lariat. Dynamite springs to his feet and both men tag out. Canek and Davey Boy square off and engage in a test of strength. Canek puts Davey to his knees but Davey recovers and breaks it with a standing double dropkick. As Canek rebounds, Davey picks him up and holds him in a military press and slams him to the mat. Dynamite Kid tags in and continues to attack Canek. Canek dodges a clothesline and tags Cobra in. Cobra flies into the Kid and knocks him down but he misses a senton and Dynamite takes over. Dynamite lays in a snap Suplex for two. He stretches Cobra with a high angle leg lock that forces Cobra’s face to the mat. He tags Davey Boy who lifts Cobra up for a delayed vertical Suplex. Davey tags in Black tiger who nails him with a Hanging Neckbreaker. Every time Cobra comes close to a tag, the Englishmen cut him off and continue the punishment. After several minutes of punishment, Black Tiger tries to finish it off with his Crucifix Bomb. Perro breaks the count. Davey comes in and hits his Running powerslam but Canek breaks it up. Dynamite goes to the top and misses his Flying headbutt. Cobra reaches Canek who cleans house. He nails his scoop Slam and spinning kick to send Dynamite out. Davey comes in, rushes and gets caught in Canek’s Gorilla Press Backbreaker. Black Tiger gets scooped up, slammed to the mat and and nailed with a Senton. Canek tags Perro in and he grabs Dynamite by the hair, pulls him to the apron and brings him into the ring with a Brainbuster. Davey breaks the count. He goes to the top and nails the La Lanza foot stomp. Tiger breaks the count. He picks Dynamite up and whips him into a lariat. He tags Cobra back in and Cobra tries to finish him off with his Cobra Lariat. All six men end up in the ring and a brawl breaks out. Perro throws Davey outside and shoots outside with a Suicide Dive crashing both men to the barricade. Dynamite Kid goes to the top and leaps on both men from the top of the turnbuckle to the floor. Canek flies over the ropes and it’s a trainwreck. Inside, Cobra gets nailed by a flying uppercut from Black Tiger and is down. Black Tiger leaps from the apron onto the Mexican wrestlers outside. As this is happening, Dynamite climbs the turnbuckle, hits the Flying Headbutt on Cobra and gets the three count. WINNERS: Dynamite Kid, Davey Boy Smith & Black Tiger in 20:06 after Dynamite Kid hit the Flying Headbutt on The Cobra +++ GREG “THE HAMMER” VALENTINE (DETROIT) vs. ANIMAL HAMAGUCHI Both guys start the feeling out process but neither wanting to make a mistake. It picks up when they trade blows. Hamaguchi headbutts Valentine in the corner but the Hammer responds with some nasty forearms. Animal pounds back on Hammer and charges with a running corner splash. Hammer takes a couple of steps and drops face first to the mat. Animal bounces off the ropes and drops a leg on the neck of the Hammer. He picks him up and drops Valentine with a back breaker. Hammer is in trouble and Hamaguchi continues to damage the neck. He hooks Hammer in a front face lock. Hammer picks him up and tosses Animal face first to the mat. Valentine rubs his neck, trying to shake off the pain. He tosses Hamaguchi out of the ring and attacks him on the outside. He whips him into the barricade in between smashing him with elbow shot. He whips him into the ringpost but Hamaguchi reverses and shoots Hammer into the ringpost. Hammer is holding the back of his head and blood is shooting out of a nasty gash in his bleached hair. Animal charges with a headbutt but Hammer moves and Hamaguchi’s head meets the steel. Hammer takes advantage and throws a nasty elbow to Hamaguchi’s head. Hamaguchi grabs his ear like he has been shot and blood is pouring from Animal’s ear. Valentine, with his hari quickly turning red, tosses animal into the ring. He keeps punching the ear and even takes a bite out of Animal’s flesh. Both men are bleeding and in need of medical attention. Animal is being pummeled. In an act of desperation, Animal nails Hammer with an enziguiri to the back of the head to turn the tide. He pulls Hammer head first and rams the back of his head into the turnbuckle. The turnbuckle is now smeared with blood, the same blood now covering Animal’s hands. Hammer swings wildly trying to connect with Hamaguchi but Animal picks him up… airplane spin… Samoan Drop… for a two count. Hammer won’t stay down. Animal picks Hammer up and hooks him for a Piledriver but Hammer lifts out and counters with a Back Drop. Hammer immediately follows with elbows to Animal’s ear. Both men are bleeding with Hammer’s hair drenched in blood and half of Animal’s face covered with blood from his ear. The tape on their hands has turned red. Hammer grabs Animal and nails him with a Piledriver for a two count. Animal fights his way to the ropes and Hammer is wailing away. Hamaguchi whips Hammer into the turnbuckle. As he charges, Hammer counters with an elbow to the side of the head of Hamaguchi. Hamaguchi is disoriented, allowing Hammer to lift Hamaguchi up for a Side Suplex, with Animal crashing down on the side of his head and neck. Valentine covers the bloody Hamaguchi for the three. Medical staff rush in to check on both men. Towels end up soaked with blood trying to clean both men. Hammer isn’t able to celebrate his victory as he is helped to the back. WINNER: Greg Valentine in 12:59 after hitting a Side Suplex +++ RIKI CHOSHU vs. SGT. SLAUGHTER (DETROIT) Slaughter and Choshu square off and Sarge towers over Choshu. Choshu kicks Sarge in the legs and attempts to chop the tree down. Sarge responds by punching Choshu and forcing him to retreat. Sarge grabs Choshu and whips him into the turnbuckle. Sarge charges but Choshu drops, Sarge ends up flying over the turnbuckles and flipping himself to the outside. Choshu takes advantage and when Sarge stands up, Choshu nails him with a Flying Lariat from the apron. Both men barely make it inside and Choshu fights to put Sarge in the Scorpion Lock. Sarge fights to the ropes and Choshu is forced to release the hold. Choshu whips Sarge to the ropes, tries to hit a Lariat but Sarge counters with the Sarge Cannon. The force of the Cannon sends Choshu tumbling through the ropes and to the outside. Sarge starts jawing with the fans and celebrates as the referee counts. All of a sudden, Choshu stands up and it looks like he is going to make it in the ring. Slaughter throws the ref out of the way and keeps Choshu form entering the ring. First he hits a running knee sending Choshu back outside. Next attempt, He nails Choshu with a shoulder block. The referee argues with Sarge and threatens to disqualify him. Sarge goes outside, picks up Choshu and hooks in the Cobra Clutch. Choshu is panicking. With his last ounce of energy, he pushes himself backwards and Sarge goes back first into the ring post. He tosses Sarge in the ring and beats the count. Inside, Sarge is punching away and Choshu blocks every other one and is able to pick Sarge up for a backbreaker. Both men are down but Choshu is up first. As Sarge stands, Choshu winds up and hits a Lariat sending Sarge back down again. Choshu grabs Sarge and hooks the Scorpion Lock in. Sarge has nowhere to go and after fighting for the ropes, he is forced to give up. Choshu survives and the crowd actually cheers the leader of Ishin-Gundan for defeating the American. WINNER: Riki Choshu in 17:58 by submission with the Scorpion Lock +++ ANDRE THE GIANT vs. KILLER KHAN Khan charges at Andre but Andre grasps Khan’s head and gives him a headbutt that sends him flying back. Khan shakes it off, charges again, same result. Andre goes to Khan and stomps him to the ground. Andre decides to punish Khan and steps on him with all 500 lbs. Khan is in pain and agonizing on the ground. Andre picks him up and whips him to the ropes. Khan dodges a clothesline and hits a running lariat to the leg of Andre. Andre’s leg buckles but he remains standing. Khan starts kicking Andre’s leg and Andre is slowly trying to escape from Khan. Khan backs off and Andre charge at him and Khan is able to nail a dropkick to the knee. Andre still doesn’t go down but he is favoring his leg. Khan tries another one but Andre dodges the blow and hits a falling elbow drop on the prone Khan. Khan is down and Andre decides to sit on Khan’s back. Khan is screaming in pain. Andre is toying with his opponent and clamps on a chinlock. Khan is helpless to escape but thankfully his length allows him to reach a rope with his foot. Andre slowly lets go and stands up. He pulls Khan up and smashes him in the corner. Khan is trapped and Andre’s huge butt crashes into Khan’s ribs. Andre pulls Khan out of the corner and locks him in his patented Bear Hug. After a couple of minutes of fighting through the Bear Hug, Khan escapes after making Andre’s ears ring. Khan runs the ropes and hits Andre with another rLariat to the legs. This time, Andre finally goes down to his knees and Khan runs the ropes again and kicks Andre in the head and the Giant is down. Khan goes to the 2nd rope and his Flying Knee Drop connects to Andre’s leg. Khan is hearing cheers from the fans, just as Choshu had earlier, and he tries to hook Andre in a Spinning Toe Hold. After several spins, Andre pushes Khan off with one huge shove of the boot and as Khan rebounds from the ropes, Andre sticks his huge face up in the air and hits Khan in the face. Khan rolls out of the ring and Andre has time to rest. Khan recovers and grabs Andre’s legs and actually pulls the giant to the corner. Khan wraps Andre’s legs around the ringpost and metal smashes against bone. Andre screams and Khan is back in control. Khan goes back in the ring and he goes to the top again. Another Flying knee drop to Andre’s leg. He goes to the well one more time and this Flying Knee Drop misses as Andre rolls out of the way. Both men are down. Andre uses the ropes to pull himself up. Khan is down, holding his knee. Andre bounces off the ropes, BIG ANDRE DROP and Andre sits on Khan for the three count. WINNER: Andre the Giant in 16:15 with the Andre Drop +++ ANTONIO INOKI vs. HULK HOGAN (AWA) © - AWA World Title The lights go down and the sound of “Eye of the Tiger” blasts through the speakers. Hulk Hogan walks to the ring, rips off his T-Shirt, and kisses his crucifix before awaiting his rival. Inoki’s theme plays and the strobe lights flicker throughout the entire arena. Inoki is accompanied by 40 women… one for each year of his life. Inoki and Hogan are now face to face and the crowd releases a thunderous roar. Once the bell rings, they struggle in a collar and elbow tie-up. Neither man is backing down. They engage in a test of strength and Hogan throws Inoki across the ring and flexes his muscles. They engage again and this time, Inoki hooks Hogan’s head and takes him down with a head scissors. Inoki controls Hogan in the head scissors on the mat and Hogan is struggling to escape. Inoki controls with the head scissors for several minutes with Hogan escaping a couple of times but Inoki maintaining control. Hogan finally breaks the hold and grabs Inoki in a headlock and stays grounded for a couple of minutes with Inoki patiently waiting to escape. Inoki gets up, Hogan whips him to the ropes and takes him down again with a droptoe hold and grabs Inoki in a front face lock. Hogan is controlling the mat showing his wrestling expertise he learned from Hiro Matsuda. Inoki shoots for Hogan’s leg and takes Hogan down with a leg grapevine. Hogan pounds the mat but can’t escape. He reaches the ropes and Hogan is now favoring his leg. Inoki attacks again but Hogan picks him up and slams him. Inoki stands up but Hogan picks him up in a bearhug. It looks like Inoki is fading but he slaps his hands together, ringing Hogan’s bell and that allows Inoki to hit his Enziguiri. Hogan drops to his knees and Inoki hooks on his sleeper. Hogan picks Inoki up and rams him back into the corner to break the hold. Hogan rushes the corner but gets caught with a knee to the stomach. Inoki tries to hook on the Octopus hold but Hogan picks him up and flips him over his shoulder. As Inoki stands, Hogan rushes and knocks Inoki out of the ring with the Axe Bomber. Hogan is in the ring as Inoki can barely stand on the floor. He barely beats the 20 count and Hogan wants to put the match away. He whips Inoki to hit the Big Boot but Inoki ducks, rebounds and hits a Dropkick. Hogan falls to the ropes and as Inoki charges, Hogan backdrops him to the apron. Inoki clings to the ropes and as Hogan tries another Axe Bomber, Inoki nails another Enziguiri. Hogan flass to the mat and Inoki leaps to the corner and comes down with his 2nd rope knee drop… but Hogan moves out of the way. Inoki is laying prone on the mat. Hogan bounces off the ropes and is about to end the match with the big Leg Drop… but Inoki moves out of the way. Inoki picks Hogan up and tries a Cobra Twist hold but Hogan forces his way to the ropes and both men tumble out of the ring. Outside, they punch each other and slam into the barricade. Hogan goes fofr another Axe Bomber but hits the ringpost instead. He is holding his arm when Inoki tries another Enziguiri but Hogan ducks and Inoki hits the floor. Hogan slams Inoki ontothe floor but the bell rings and both men are counted out. Inside the ring, both men now continue to fight with each other with officials separating them as the ring announcer gives the crowd the result. Eventually, cooler heads prevail and Hogan extends his hand out to Inoki. Inoki shakes his hand and they hug in the middle of the ring. Both men celebrate in the middle of the ring as Inoki’s theme music plays. The crowd cheers as their heroes have put their differences aside.
