From the UK SmackDown taping:

Booker T vs Chris Benoit for the United States title went to a draw after two referees got involved and each counted a pinfall as both men had their shoulders on the mat. Teddy Long declared the title vacant and that Booker T vs Benoit was made for Survivor Series as the first in a 'Best of Seven' match, with the winner being declared the new US Champion.

Though it may have been done before and I don't think the series will be anywhere near as entertaining as the original, at least if you're going to rehash ideas, they're rehashing good ones. I can't imagine WHY, though, since both men, at least in my opinion, should be in the World Title picture, not feuding for the US title.

I'm pretty sure we would still be seeing this crap even if they were on RAW. Remember. Shelton Benjamin's jobbing on HEAT right now. I'm quite sure they'd pull the same crap with having Benoit and Booker T on RAW just as they are on Smackdown.

It was probably Benoit or Booker's idea. I'm sure one of them wanted it.

It's also a good way -- in theory -- to bring value to the US title, but only if they make it a big deal and put it in a main event slot on at least one or two Smackdowns while the series is ongoing. They should also have every finish booked before they start it.

Um Loss, think about it. An idea that's from a wrestler that actually gets accepted by the writers? I don't think so.

When they don't have anything for the talent with titles, they take input from the guys if they're made aware of the situation - see Guerrero and Mysterio prior to Wrestlemania (although they actually *begged* for the angle they were going to run).

Happens all the time, especially with pseudo-main event/midcard guys like Benoit and Booker. Most of the booking for the last 2 years of Jericho in the company was his ideas as well. The whole Benoit/Angle feud in '01 happened because they both asked to be put in a program together.

Just a general question but how come whenever anyone seems to mention WCW nowadays it's always in a negative light referring to the dying days?

WCW provided me with many hours of great TV.

Because WWE is doing a lot of things that reminds people of WCW in its dying days, hence that's why WCW gets mentioned in a negative way.

I'm wondering if this was Benoit's idea and they agreed to it to give him incentive to stay.

I loved WCW more than most, but by 2000 or so, it was a joke of a wrestling promotion until it got good again in the last few months. Even from 1998-1999, the top storylines were pretty horrible, but there were other good factors. Usually, people are referring to the point from the Fingerpoke of Doom until Russo was fired in late 2000. Probably the worst 20 months or so EVER for a wrestling company, although they still had a good product on the undercard until Benoit and company left. Point is, nearly everyone wanted a healthy WWF alternative and when WWE starts making the same mistakes that caused WCW to go out of business, it sets off red flags.

I can picture them rationalizing this as being different from the Booker/Benoit Best or 7 in WCW by saying that it was for the TV title in 98 and this is for the US title.

The big problem is that it is now 7 years later as well as multiple injuries to both men and neither are nearly as good as they were in 1998.

Smackdown is the new WCW, as over half of the tickets for the Armageddon pay per view are still available (with the show taking place this Sunday) You mean to tell me Undertaker and Orton aren?t big draws?!?!?! Shocker.

But my question is, why is the WWE advertising New Year?s Revolution endlessly on TV if they know the show needs help? I?ve seen 3 NYR commercials to every 1 Armageddon. Is this a sign that they?ve given up on Smackdown?

How embarrassing, as this is the thing they used to make fun of WCW for doing endlessly. But, hey, maybe some of you Rhode Islanders can get some free comp seats and get to see that shitfest free of charge.

They gave up on Smackdown the moment they had Triple H get traded back to RAW for nobodies. No offense, but when Booker T, D-Von and Bubba were on RAW they were barely midcarders.

I jus felt the need to post this from Inside Pulse.com-

Juventud Guerrera recently pitched a talk-show segment called The Juice Is Loose to the Smackdown writing team but it was turned down. He also pitched a Mask vs. Mask feud with Rey Mysterio but that was turned down too. When reminded that he doesn't wear a mask, Juvi said he could just start wearing one for that feud. When told to think up group ideas for the Mexicools as a whole, he reportedly said that Psicosis and Super Crazy were not in his league and that he should be up at Mysterio's level. Juvi has been getting a lot of heat backstage the past few weeks and nobody else will travel with him except for Bob Orton. JBL has been quoted as saying recently, regarding Juvi, "Don't waste your time with him. He's a retard. He's hopeless."

Oh that Juice...
