We open with a recap of the Fall Brawl event from The Scope last weekend. A music video with generic 80’s type music shows clips of the events. When we return to the arena and the NWA-MACW set, NWA World’s Champion Ric Flair talks with Tony and David. He shows off the beautiful 10-pounds of gold. Flair is all smiles and bragging that he is STILL the man, and still the champ! Flair flips out at the news as Bob Backlund comes to the ring for his match.

Love the 60 minutes matches between Flair and Backlund. They would be classics. I think they did the same thing a couple of times in Florida Championship Wrestling.

I am interested to see how far you go with aging Mr. Wrestling II and Rock Johnson. I think they are both popular enough to pull off almost anything even though their bodies might begin to break down.

I am also very interested to see where you go next if Backlund doesn't capture the title. You have a lot of good babyfaces that would be Main Events anywhere in the country with Flair. From TA to Windham to one of the Harts. Should be fun to watch.

Just as a note: I in error had a match originally listed on 10/7 with Tully Blanchard. But I had him with Lutte Wrestling that day. That was my mistake in trying to catch up, I remembered to keep Superstar Graham off the show, but I put Tully on it.. I have since changed it to with an replacement announced. Sorry for the screw up, and thanks for pointing it out to me. :)

World Championship Wrestling TV Taping (Airing 10/13/84)

Greenville, SC

Memorial Auditorium

Tony Schiavone and Bob Caudle welcome everyone to the show. David Crockett is “on assignment” this week and Bob joins us on World Championship Wrestling. A big show ahead and they start it off with a run down of the top two matches announced for the big show in Atlanta at the Omni. Two big time steel cage matches, as Tully Blanchard will defend his title against “Superstar” Billy Graham. On World Wide Wrestling this week, you will see footage from an event presented by Lutte International, in which Graham and Blanchard had a bloody non-title brawl. The other steel cage match signed will be for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, a rematch from Fall Brawl as well, with Bob Backlund challenging Ric Flair. These two almost went head to head last week, and both men will be on the show today!

The Fantastic’s pick up the win over Steve Lombardi and Dusty Wolfe in 4 minutes. While this match was going on, The Grappler’s make their way to the set, and Tony interviews them as the match finishes. The Grappler’s say they haven’t been getting the respect they deserve around here. They say they will start to get the respect they should have, and they will soon take those World Titles from the Fantastic’s.

COMMERCIAL BREAK 1

COMMERCIAL BREAK 2

Killer Khan (w/ Sir Oliver Humperdink) destroys Ray Apollo in about 90 seconds.

Mr. Wrestling II arrives on set and awaits Paul Jones. Paul walks out with his boys and gets straight to the point. He knows what 2 is all about. He wants him in his stable. He wants 2 under contract. He shows Mr. Wrestling II a folder with papers inside it. 2 looks at it, and shakes his head approvingly. They shake hands and it looks like we have a deal made.

COMMERCIAL BREAK 3

Tony is with Rocky Johnson. Rocky is not a new to the NWA, but is relatively new to the Mid Atlantic region. He tells Tony that he watched when he could. He remembers watching a little of Sweet Ebony Diamond, he liked that guy (insert big wink here). Rocky wants competition and knows that he will find it here in Mid Atlantic.

Rocky Johnson defeated Dennis Stamp

COMMERCIAL BREAK 4

Magnum TA defeated Paul Roma in a non-title match.

Magnum visits with Bob at the set. Bob asks what is next for the United States Champion. Magnum says that he has a big challenge in front of him. COMMERCIAL BREAK 5

Mr. Saito defeated Jim Powers

Mr. Fuji is with Tony at the set. He once again tells the world that his charge, the evil Great Kokina challenges Andre The Giant to a match. Anywhere, and anytime. Kokina isn’t afraid of Andre, and IF Andre accepts, Kokina will end his career.

COMMERCIAL BREAK 6

Tony and Bob welcome us back as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion joins us on set. He is calmer this week. He tells Tony that he was just a little in shock after hearing he has to wrestle that punk again. Especially when it will be inside a steel cage. But Flair isn’t upset. No, he’s the champ baby, he can handle anyone at anytime. He’s the greatest thing going today, WHOOO!! And Flair knows that he will prove it over and over again. Atlanta is his town, whooo!!! Backlund will be sent packing after losing this cage match. One more punk gone from the NWA. Whooo!!!!

We see the last 8 minutes of the bloody match. The match was a non-title match, so we are approximately 30 minutes in. Bob Caudle is doing the commentary by himself. Tully has the advantage, as he is working over the arm of the muscular Graham. Tully just pushed Graham shoulder first into the ringpost between the turnbuckles. He clutches at his shoulder and he slumps into the corner. Tully is feeling more confident. Tully wrenches at Graham’s arm as he pulls him up. Tully tries to go for the Slingshot Suplex, but Graham is able to break away and send Tully flying through the ring ropes to the floor. Dillon runs over and tries to help Tully. Tully begins to climb back on the apron, pulling the referee close, JJ runs around to the other side of the ring, he slides into the ring and runs down Graham, but Superstar catches his arm, grabs the shoe that JJ has in his hand, and nails JJ with the heel of that dress shoe. JJ falls out of the ring. Superstar is pulled from the ring as Tully grabs him. They continue to brawl on the floor. The referee counts to ten, as JJ attacks Superstar from behind again. Graham pushes JJ into the ringpost and grabs Tully and tosses him into the ring. Superstar puts Tully in backbreaker and you can hear Tully yelling. Officials rush in to break it up. Tully and JJ rush off to the locker room as “Superstar” Graham celebrates. Official Decision: Double Countout.

Fisherville, VA

Augusta Expo

We open the show with Tony Schiavone & David Crockett on the NWA MACW set. They go right to clipped footage from The Omni. We see partial clips of the ending of the two steel cage matches. Not the actual endings, but where the video stops before a big spot, and the audio continues on for a moment. The last image we see is Flair, Blanchard, Stevens, Patterson & Dillon standing tall inside the steel cage over Backlund’s body showing off their championship belts.

As we cut back to the stage with Tony and David, these four men with JJ Dillon arrive on the scene. All of them showing off their championship gold. So proud of themselves. Tony welcomes them to the show. JJ starts off first, proclaiming his predictions to be true. He has secured the greatest talent the WORLD has ever seen. Ric Flair takes over, announcing that not only does JJ have the United States Tag Team Champions under his tutelage, but he also has the contract of the greatest Television Champion of all-time in Tully Blanchard. Flair is happy to announce to the entire world that JJ also has secured the managerial contract of the NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair. Whooo!! Tully steps up, and that means that we control ALL the gold in the NWA. They are not only the cream of the crop, they are 24-Karat baby. I agree. 24-Karat...aka the New Four Horsemen are going to be fun. Looking forward to see who steps up as the next major threat to Flair.... will it continue to be Backlund or is it TA's turn. Maybe Superstar or Windham.

24 Karat will have their work cut out for them if they are going to keep the World title and the TV title.
