bkord123
Hi, folks. There was a match that I think was a title change where the heel hit the baby with a handful of quarters, and our beloved David Crockett was screaming "Tommy!!!!!!!!!!! He used quarters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I've googled the hell out of this and can't find it. Anyone know offhand? Thanks. Brian
PeteF3
Piper vs. Jack Brisco from the WPCQ studio has a roll-of-coins finish and I'm pretty sure a David Crockett freakout.
bkord123
Good god you're fast! And thank you. But it had to be in the mid-80s since I lived in NJ and only started getting NWA in like 1984. Can we agree that David's freakouts were a thing of beauty? I just watched a match from 1987 where he was cheering like mad for a Ron Garvin squash screaming for him to put the guy "in the sugar." haha. But back to the question. It wasn't Piper-Brisco based on the timeline.
PeteF3
Could be Garvin vs. Tully from Worldwide--that also has a roll of coins playing into the finish.
bkord123
That's the one! Thank you, kind sir. If you're so inclined, here's the video, circa May 1986. Many many thanks.
Johnny Sorrow
See, this is what it should all be about. People being groovy and helpful instead of being negative. 😎🤠

Memphis Mark
I just watched this Ronnie Garvin vs. Tully a few weeks ago. Great match. Garvin also had some classics with Arn Anderson in 87. Garvin , Tully , Double A and Barry Windham were produced quality matches for Crockett in 87. Barry vs. Arn going to a draw for the western belt is another one of my favorites . Cox
Garvin was old but still good in 1990 after he left WWF after becoming a virtual jobber. He had something left in the tank, but unfortunately by then Dusty had power again in WCW (the most obvious destination for him) and he was never going to go back there after the way he left in 1988. It's too bad, because I think he would have been a lot of fun in the late 90's on WCWSN and the syndies, and would have had some entertaining Nitro squashes. I think in particular, he'd have had a great sub-4 minute Goldberg match circa 1998.
bkord123
Here's the crazy thing. Ron was born in 1945, which means he was FORTY in 1985. Doesn't seem right, does it? So when Vince got him in '90, he probably looked at his age and jobbed him out. I'm following along with the Bryan and Vinny shows from NWA in 1987 and Ronnie beat the living shit out of jobbers every week. He brutalized them.
