soup23
Fun, fun, fun match. I don’t think this could reach the great level with the bucket being used by the rudos like the Aja Kong trashcan but this match had a punch of old grumpy rudo guys beating the shit out of the tecnicos and then the tecnicos looking for revenge. It is a simple story but can be told well. Zumbido is such a bump freak and he riles up the Monterrey crowd tremendously. I liked the double team moves that Dandy and Dantes performed and think they would have been a great maestro touring tag team here. Tarzan Boy also looked more refined and better here with control on his dives than in some of his CMLL efforts. Overall, a strong match and it made me want to see more of all the pairings involved in the future. ***1/2 (6.8)
ohtani's jacket
This was a solid atomicos. I didn't care much for the beef between Zumbido and Antifaz del Norte but there was plenty of other stuff going on to bypass that. Pierroth continues to be one of my favorite performers in 2000. Usually, I harp on about how good a worker is based on how well I think they can actually wrestle. In Pierroth's case, it's 90% charisma. He played the type of henchman role that Emilio Charles Jr or La Fiera used to do in the early 90s and was brilliant at it. Also impressive was Tarzan Boy. I don't know what he was drinking in Monterrey but he ought to have bottled it. He looks like a completely different worker outside of Mexico City and with the crowd behind him he keeps going from strength to strength. I've always said that it's harder to be an excellent tecnico than a quality rudo and Tarzan Boy sure is making strides toward being a credible tecnico. Can he keep it up? What's going to happen to him? Those are interesting questions for me since I wasn't following lucha closely at the time. Dandy was a bit innocuous in his first appearance for the year but the match was good enough that it made me forget that Lizmark Jr was in it. Tim Evans
Pierroth was the ultimate rudo here hitting people with a bucket and bitting Tarzan's boot. He's so great in these setting. Dandy spent most of the match slapping people in the face. I agree with OJ about Tarzan. He's a different person here compared to Arena Mexico. I guess it's because people actually like him in Monterrey. Fun match.
