TOKYO Princess of Princess Championship: Miyu Yamashita (c) vs. Yuu

Yuu takes her vile chops to the next level when she starts chopping Miyu on the back and hitting double arm chops! This was a vicious back and forth where the hits got harder and the beatdowns more violent as the match progressed. Pure barbarism on display from the two best wrestlers in the promotion.

****3/4

I was looking forward to this a lot because these two are pretty good. It didn't disappoint at all. Yuu's grappling isn't fancy but it's so compelling, she's always doing stuff. I know nothing about judo so I don't know the names of the things she does but it's all pretty great. Yamashita's kicks are great as always. This also doesn't have a bunch of aimless limbwork that goes nowhere which is something I feel holds back a lot of TJP matches I've seen. They just beat the hell out of each other instead. When it gets to Yuu sadistically chopping Miyu and Miyu landing that head kick, it hits another level. One of the best matches of the year for sure.

This was a real great match. Very violent match with some nasty chops and kicks, suplexes. Top quality wrestling. A typical start, nothing really that special than the chops begin and the match turns into a brutal contest. Some vile sounding chops that turned the match into something great. Some awesome performances, Yuu in particular. She was an absolute beast. Laying into Miyu, putting herself about, being real focused on doing nothing but hurting her opponent. Lighting up Miyu's chest (turning it red by the end) with nasty chops which got louder and more and more viscous as she went on. Not letting Miyu rest, doing simple things like pulling her up by her throat, leaning on her neck. It was very compelling as was Miyu's comebacks. Selling everything Yuu did really well but also doing some great counters and striking sequences. The crowd eat it all up and so did I. I didn't expect this level of performance from either women, it was top notch wrestling. ****3/4

Easily the best match of Miyu's long reign. Not that it should be a surprise that the two arguably best wrestlers in the promotion put on a very great match. This all strikes as Miyu and Yuu just beat the piss out of each other with kicks and chops and impactful moves. The chemistry was on point, and it was pretty satisfying to see Miyu beat the one woman who ended her first reign, ****1/4.

  • GSR changed the title to [2018-08-25-Tokyo Joshi Pro] Miyu Yamashita vs Yuu

Personally, I have been fairly underwhelmed by Miyu. Her performance in her last Korakuen title defense was particularly drab so it was nice to her best performance since the match with Meiko Satomura almost a year ago. While she is good technically from an execution standpoint, Yuu is weak at putting her moves together to make an interesting match but here Miyu was able to tie everything together superbly. She also brought some fire to counter Yuu's oatmeal personality. Very strong main event to a big show. ****
