LastStopTour
Don't change that channel all that flippin' around! You're about to see the hottest show in town. The biggest stars and the biggest brawls, the biggest hits and the biggest falls. Non stop action no messin' around, pretty soon we're comin' to your town. The way you like it, the way it used to be...Smoky Mountain Wrestling's on TV! You are watching professional wrestling on Knoxville's WEEE-LP, UPN Channel 32! Smoky Mountain Wrestling TV Episode #1 From the WEEE TV Studios in Knoxville, TN Air Date: Friday, August 30th, 1997 Announcer: Bob Caudle Referee: Aubrey Wayne and Mark Curtis The program opens to music over previous wrestling action before coming to the familiar face of announcer Bob Caudle in the confines of a television studio, in front of the SMW logo and a live studio audience. He welcomes everyone to the return of wrestling ... the way you like it and the way it used to be as Smoky Mountain Wrestling returns to the airwaves ... and it didn't take long before trouble comes along! Bob Caudle says this visit was not on the schedule ... Jim Cornette: Now hold on one second, Bob. I am here to say some nice things about Bert Prentice who was running the show here last year before it all went away. I mean this sincerely when I say that Bert Prentice is a Con Man and a Snake Oil Salesman! He is the epitome of a Used Car Salesman ... and believe me, Bob, I mean that with all sincerity. Caudle rolls his eyes and shakes his head. Jim Cornette: Those were the nice things I can say here on TV about Bert. I know, I know, Bob what you are thinking ... I'm just here to say something nasty about Bert Prentice and to probably pick on you at some point but that just isn't the case. After Bert ran this territory into the ground, stuffed his pockets with whatever cash he could take from these fans then closed the doors, I had a change of heart. You see, Bob, this area holds a special place in my heart. This is where wrestling was done the way it was supposed to be AND it was done in front of the best and most knowledgeable fans who know and appreciate a good wristlock over a wrist watch. They appreciate good wrestling over cartoon character buffoons and a chair shot that begins a feud ... Caudle thinks it does sound different than the usual Jim Cornette bashing people over the head with his tennis racket. He likes this Jim better. Jim Cornette: Getting to the point, I bought SMW lock, stock and barrel from Bert Prentice. I was able to secure a television deal as well as some of those who wrestled here before. I also think Smoky Mountain will be the place to see some of tomorrow's superstars today as they kick off their careers. I just ask everyone to be patient with us as we grow, starting today with our Power Half Hour! The fans cheer as Bob Caudle sends us off to our first commercial break! x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x Local commercials as well as programming for the evening. Caudle talks about MItchell who was here previously, glossing over the "transformation" he went through to get to where we are here today, having replaced the Moondogs with these Night Terrors. He then moves on to their opponents, a pair of youngsters by the name of Joey Matthews and Christian York who are brothers by another mother. A dynamite pair looking to establish themselves here in SMW! The Night Terrors w/Father Jim Mitchell versus Christian York & Joey Matthews. Referee Aubrey Wayne. Mitchell sends in his masked men before the bell for a sneak attack to set the stage for the early going in the match. Mitchell is also able to get involved, slapping York and tripping up Matthews with his cane for a near pinfall. With the fans support, York and Matthews make a come back with some nifty double teaming with a double drop kick that knocks down both masked men AND Father Jim! York does the honors as Matthews holds off the Terror who tries to make the save. With the loss, Mitchell tries to send the Terrors back in for the attack but Matthews and York are ready. Thinking better of it, Mitchell pulls the Terrors back, promising this is far from over! Caudle praises the win by York and Matthews with the fans cheering as he sends it to a commercial break. x-x-x-x-x COMMERCIAL BREAK x-x-x-x-x Local commercials as well as programming for the evening. Adjusting the weight, Killer Kyle is able to throw him through the air but the wiry guy lands on his feet ready for more action. Silver Wings wears Kyle down but a ref bump saves the big man who is able to turn the tide following an eye rake. No pin attempts, just a beating to take out the frustrations from earlier in the match. The fans start chanting Silver WIngs to bring him back into the match. KingBoggs33
I enjoyed this episode of SMW. I like that you don't use bigger names to win people over. I also really liked the way you portrayed Cornette. Awesome work!
