Barry Windham defends the prestigious NWA World Heavyweight title....in a high school gym...before about 300 people... Big Van Vader was the WCW World Heavyweight Champion at this time. Dustin Rhodes is the US Champ, but only Windham's belt is on the line. Dustin gets the advantage during the initial lockup, punching Barry in the corner and gets a high backdrop, Windham rolls out of the ring. Windham takes Dustin down with a side headlock, but Dustin quickly escapes. Barry chops and elbows Dustin in the corner, Dustin nails some big punches from the bottom, and takes Windham down again. Dustin hits a suplex and gets a two count. These guys like to punch each other a lot. Barry cheats using the ropes for leverage, rakes Dustin's eyes. They brawl outside, Windham hits a big chop, and a nice lariat when they are back in the ring. Dustin fights back, kicks to the midsection and a dropkick. Windham gets Dustin in the corner, goes to the middle rope, and I'm thinking "Superplex", but Dustin instead fights him off and goes for a clothesline off the top, but Windham ducks out of the way. Barry drops a knee on Dustin's head and gets a two count of his own. The ref catches Barry using the ropes and breaks them up, as Dustin struggles to his feet. They brawl in the corner, Dustin hits a backdrop followed by a nice DDT. Barry comes off the ropes, Dustin catches him in a powerslam. Windham shoves Dustin into the referee. Dustin with a bulldog and a visual pin, but the ref is still down. Barry takes off his boot and nails Dustin with it as the ref revives for the DQ at 15:16. This was better than fine, both men looked very good, but how much enthusiasm and excitement can you generate before 300 fans? You cannot criticize these guys for working hard though. I would give it maybe 3 1/2 stars. I was glad to see it, I'm glad it exists.

Rocky Johnson & Tony Atlas defend the WWF Tag Team titles. Aired on "WWF Wrestling at the Chase, 2/18/84" Vince & Mean Gene are on commentary. Johnson comes into the match with his head bandaged and already bleeding. The doctor has advised him not to defend the titles here tonight, but he insisted upon it. Adonis & Murdoch attack the champs before the bell, but are sent out of the ring packing. Adonis takes a big bump off the turnbuckle, and the match hasn't even started yet!!! It is very strange to hear Vince calling Johnson, "The Rock". Finally the referee restores some order and the match begins. Adonis & Atlas start off, they tie up and Adonis takes another big bump in the corner and immediately tags to Murdoch. Murdoch brutalizes Atlas with a series of elbows and vicious punches. Atlas hits a big headbutt, and Adonis comes back in. The heels double team Atlas in the corner, Adonis goes to the top rope, but Atlas crotches him and finally makes the tag to Rocky Johnson. Rocky comes in on fire, but Murdoch squares off with him as the bandage comes off Rocky's head, Murdoch works on opening the cut. He throws Johnson to the floor, Adonis rams Rocky's head into the timekeeper's table. Johnson gets back in the ring, but Murdoch whacks him with a chair from the outside as Adonis holds him down and goes for the cover. The ref wants to check Rocky's head, but gets shoved away by the valiant champ. The heels continue to double team, until Adonis hits a huge bulldog out of the corner. Adonis misses a splash, Murdoch back in, multiple punches to Johnson's injured head. Adonis chokes Rocky with the tag rope, as Atlas tries to make the save. Johnson goes for a pin with a sunset flip, but Murdoch runs in and stomps him in the head, and drops an elbow on him. Johnson tries to slam Adonis, but doesn't have the strength to hold him up, Adonis gets a two count. Murdoch and Adonis jump on Johnson and pound away at him, Atlas tries to save again, but is stopped by the referee. Atlas comes in again to stop the villains, finally the referee stops and gets to examine Rocky's head wound and stops the match due to excessive bleeding at 11:12. Johnson & Atlas keep the titles. There is a rematch next month on March 23rd, where supposedly "the match cannot be stopped for blood". Holy fuck this was great. More people need to see this match. Four stars.

I would like to strongly recommend Dusty & Magnum vs Tully & Flair 12/28/85 (listed as Jan 86). Elimination match. Greensboro NC This is on the "NWA Handhelds Set 12/85-3/86". The whole set is worth checking out. I have updated it with all of the correct dates and locations. Some are clipped, some are brief highlights, but there are some quality complete matches on here. You can find most of these matches posted by me in the regular matches thread for that month and year. NWA HOUSE SHOW DARK MATCHES FROM 12/85-3/86 COMP. VOL. 1 (4 hours) These two tapes feature all exclusive footage shot during NWA house shows in Charlotte, Greensboro & Roanoke from December 1985-March 1986. The footage is shot from the crowd from Crockett's own one-man video taping crew for house shows during the time. Some television filming crews can be seen at ringside for some of the bigger matches, but the camera never stops from the crowd. These matches were not shown on television, and this tape has not been seen by most fans till now. There is no commentary. All you hear is the crowd, and they do get very vocal and into the matches. 1. Magnum T.A. vs. Nikita Koloff with Ivan Koloff 3/9/86 Roanoke VA 2. The six man tag must be 8/3/86 in Greenville SC. The 8/12 one supposedly has Tully instead of Flair

Ok, I just checked. We've got 17:22 of Flair-Magnum 2/23/86 (incomplete, clipped), and Dusty-Arn in the cage goes 8:50 (complete?). This is a Steel Cage Texas Death match, btw. There is also a Flair-Garvin match from Greensboro handheld 3/1/86. https://forums.prowrestlingonly.com/topic/50248-1986-03-01-jcp-greensboro-nc-ric-flair-vs-ronnie-garvin/

Whoa....wait a second...there is footage of a one hour draw from Atlanta 1/19/86??? I have definitely never seen or heard of this!!! And I've got to check out the Dusty-Arn cage 2/23/86. I know I have it. Now...also... Dusty Rhodes & Wahoo McDaniel vs Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard (Bullrope & Strap Match - Handheld -- This is 3/29/86 Greensboro, not 3/30. Same for Flair-Garvin Cage. Dusty & Wahoo vs Flair & Tully, bullrope strap is Charlotte 4/12/86 (WPW 6/22/86) Dusty- Tully Texas Death is Charlotte 4/26/86 Flair-Morton Cage is Roanoke 7/11/86, which aired on WPW 9/1/86, not 6/22/86 The only date I am not sure about is the taping date for the R&R & Magnum vs Horsemen 8/3/86. It aired on WPW 9/22/86. I think it should be Spartanburg SC 8/12/86.

There actually were WWF International Tag Team titles from June 1969 to November 1971. Then they were vacant for over 14 years and brought back here. Kimura & Fujinami were champs until October 1985 and the titles were inactive since then. Weird....
