I wonder if Dolph was thinking coming back with a new look was going to be the thing that finally got him into the main event. It's hard to believe but now that he no longer looks like a Billy Gunn tribue act his gear is even worse.

Well they mentioned the possibility of Sheamus cashing in so cross that off your list of things that might happen.

I could not care less about Jon Stewart getting back up after the AA. John Cena killed that move months ago anyway when he treated it like a rolling german and did it 3 times to Brock Lesnar for a nearfall. And since then he's just been throwing more dirt on the grave.
  5. Parv told me he was gonna do a Titans episode on this and the Titanes en el Ring movie I found so I was waiting until after that to upload it but it felt like that might not ever come so I went ahead and put it up on youtube. I got this from khawk in a trade a few months ago, not sure how "rare" it is in the trading world.

That talking segment certainly fit the idea someone floated that WWE gives people what they want in a shitty way to stop them from asking for it.

He's been working NXT house shows for a few months from the stuff I am reading he just didn't go on the TV. Which is pretty smart if you want to debut him as monster no one has ever seen before. Hell, even if he just gets built up for 2-3 months as a monster for Roman Reigns to eventually slay before sending him back down I wouldn't hate on it.

Wrestling needs more big dudes who act like they are unstoppable monsters. If they let him smash Roman Reigns in his debut SOMEBODY has to think he's got potential. I don't think it's just "well he's big" because they've done a really poor job of pushing their hosses lately. Seth Rollins is their current WWE AND U.S. Champ so the era of the "big man fetish" has been over for a while.

For sure. I would hope they immediately put the dude on house shows working tags/6 mans to get him some experience so he can live up to that debut. Because that was about as strong a debut as you are ever gonna see in WWE. He just smashed Dean Ambrose AND Roman Reigns.

Whether he turns out to be any good or not, they certainly made him look strong on his debut.

    Who is this big dude??
  12. I need to watch that. Rip Rogers is the best wrestler to follow on twitter, he will usually respond to you if you ask him a respectful question.
  13. This is one of the best wrestling documentaries I have ever seen. It's in French but has English subtitles. It includes some footage of wrestling from Montreal with guys like Abdullah the Butcher, Gino Brito, Jos Leduc, Ed Carpentier, Johnny Rougeau, Andre the Giant, Yvon Robert Jr, Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon, Gilles Poisson and others. Heavily focused on wrestling's use of "good vs evil" and how it parallels society itself. I will warn that this includes footage of a live goat beheading in the early part of the film as they compare the "wrestling ritual" to rituals in other parts of the world. I'm not sure this warrants it's own thread but I'm not sure where else it fits. I really think this is something that the vast majority of this board would enjoy watching, not just for the old footage of Montreal wrestling that you're not going to see anywhere else but for the way this documentary treats wrestling with respect from a non-fan point of view. I have no idea why I didn't put this on youtube months ago.

Can you explain what this is about? Wrestlezone put out some click bait story that I think is total bullshit about how the original plan was for Charlotte to debut and beat Nikki Bella for the Divas title in her very first match but John Cena stopped that from happening.
  15. goc

    WWE TV 8/24-8/30

I highly doubt that happened. It's not like WrestleZone is really all that credible and immediately having Charlotte come in and win the belt from Nikki Bella was probably never in the plans since they've seemed determined to have her break AJ's streak for some time now. The saying "don't believe everything you read on the internet" is a saying for a reason.
  16. Lesnar respects Undertaker as much or more than probably any other wrestler so I doubt he sees it that way.
  17. I really don't think there is some grand conspiracy to it other than "we know this dude's concussion history and we don't want him to turn into a Corey Graves situation who has openly tweeted he now only has 85% brain function." It's easier to hide a Corey Graves injury situation from the media and the public than it is a dude who just main evented WrestleMania less than 2 years ago. They definitely don't want to give that lawyer who is going around getting old wrestlers to sue WWE over concussions any big ammo like that.
  18. I really had a hard time figuring out just what stipulation to run in that match, luckily this board is awesome and I saw some stuff in the yearbook section about a Coward Waves the Flag match from Memphis and that fit a lot better for me than another Texas Death Match or a Cage match. Death Rides A Horse...this time right out of Texas.

  20. A few days behind but I just posted my HemisFair show and this was a big week. Finally got the ball rolling on the big plans I have for El Gran Apollo and Duggan & Khan went to war in a Coward's Way Out match.

Adnan quickly bailed out of the ring once Ron Starr started to return fire and hurried back to the locker room while Ron Starr challenged him to get back in the ring! Tiny Anderson vs. Mike Jackson - Tiny Anderson comes out to the ring alone, without Mike Masters in his corner. Mike Jackson uses his speed advantage to frustrate Tiny Anderson in the early going. After the match Roy Lee Welch & Robert Fuller got into an argument and argued all the way back to the dressing room. Winners: Roy Lee Welch & Robert Fuller in 8:03 after Welch made T.G. Stone submit to a spinning toe hold *Steve Stack went backstage to talk to Roy & Robert about their problems after this match and and the interview will be shown on the next episode of Southwest Championship Wrestling Stan Stasiak vs. Steve Pardee - It appears that Stan Stasiak accepted Steve Pardee's challenge because Lord Alfred Hayes did not accompany Stasiak to the ring for this match. Stan Stasiak started the match by gesturing towards the outside of the ring to show Pardee that Lord Alfred was not there and then extended his hand for a handshake. Pardee accepted and then was immediately taken down by a short arm clothesline from Stan Stasiak! Stasiak quickly took advantage of the situation stomping on Pardee and pounding on him as he tried to get back to his feet. Stan grabbed a headlock on Steve Pardee and maintained control for several minutes while Pardee continued working in vain to escape the hold. Once they were down on the mat Pardee was finally able to slip out of the headlock and establish a headscissors on Stasiak, to ensure this match will get questionable youtube comments in the years to come. Stasiak is able to scoot towards the ropes and get one of his feet out of the ring to force the referee to break the hold. Pardee gets up first and waits on Stasiak who comes charging at him only to get an arm drag and then a dropkick once he's back to his feet. Pardee grabs an arm bar on Stasiak and Stasiak tries to bodyslam him only for Pardee to hang on and keep control of the arm bar. Stasiak again manages to get to the ropes to force a break and this time he grabs Pardee's tights as Steve is trying to break and pulls him forward and thru the ropes to go crashing down to the arena floor. Pardee tries to get back in the ring but Stasiak continues to stomp and beat on him as he tries to roll under the bottom rope or come up on the apron. Pardee gets up on the apron again and this time Stasiak turns him around and starts hammering him with forearms across the chest. Stasiak looks to try and bring Pardee in the ring with a back suplex but Pardee kicks and fights as he's coming in and instead lands on his feet with Stasiak in a headlock position. Pardee quickly runs forward and drops Stasiak down with a Bulldog and makes the cover for the count of 3! Winner: Steve Pardee in 9:27 after a Bulldog After the match as Steve Pardee is getting ready to leave the ring, Stan Stasiak grabs him and turns him around. Pardee puts up his fists but Stan Stasiak extends his hand for a handshake. Pardee isn't quite sure at first but he finally shakes Stan Stasiak's hand and Stasiak raises Pardee's arm in a sign of respect. Suddenly Lord Alfred Hayes comes down and jumps up on the apron, going crazy shouting at Stan Stasiak. Stasiak & Pardee are focused on Lord Alfred when suddenly they get attack from behind by Mike Masters! Steve Pardee gets tossed out of the ring where Lord Alfred starts putting the boots to him while Mike Masters puts Stan Stasiak in the Full Nelson! Masters really clamps down hard on it and starts swinging Stasiak around while he's still locked in the Full Nelson! Referee Jack Howe tells Mike Masters if he doesn't release Stan Stasiak right now he'll be suspended so Masters pulls Stasiak up and slams him down with a Full Nelson slam! Mike Masters & Lord Alfred Hayes walk back to the locker room together to a chorus of boos. Winner faces the AWA World Tag Team Champions: The Fabulous Ones vs. The Assassins - The Fabulous Ones come out first and get jumped in the aisle by The Assassins! The Assassins bust open Steve Keirn before the match even start by smashing his head on the guard rail. The Assassins get in the ring and try and get the referee to award them the match by forfeit as Steve Keirn is laid out at ringside with Stan Lane trying to help him up. The referee refuses to give The Assassins a forfeit win and Stan Lane gets Steve Keirn up on the apron in their corner and then gets in the ring and tells the referee to ring the bell. Lane starts the match like a man possessed, taking it to both Assassins. After holding his own for the first few minutes eventually Lane falls prey to a cheap shot from behind by Assassin #2 while Assassin #1 was keeping his attention. The Assassins then worked over Lane in their corner for a long time without being able to put him away. Keirn, having recovered his wits about him, gets the crowd behind Stan Lane while out on the apron. Finally Stan Lane is able to make it to his corner for the tag and Steve Keirn comes in a house of fire! He hits a Flying Forearm on Assassin #2 and goes for the cover but Assassin #1 breaks it up! Keirn keeps beating on Assassin #2 but every time he tries for a cover, Assassin #1 is in to break it up. Keirn bounces off the ropes to try a second Flying Forearm but Assassin #1 knees him in the back which puts Keirn down on the mat and allows Assassin #2 to tag out. #1 comes in and works on Steve Keirn for a bit before missing an elbow drop which allows Keirn the time to tag back out to Stan Lane as Assassin #1 makes the tag to #2. All 4 men end up in the ring as Keirn and Assassin #1 fight in one corner and Lane & Assassin #2 fight in the other. The Assassins go to whip The Fabs into each other in the middle of the ring but The Fabs reverse it and The Assassins go crashing into each other! Lane pulls Assassin #2 up and hits a Russian Legsweep with a floatover on him for the 3 count while Keirn guards the pin from a breakup by Assassin #1. Winners: The Fabulous Ones in 15:44 after Stan Lane pinned Assassin #2 after a Russian Legsweep Eddie Gilbert vs. Charlie Cook - These two start at each other as soon as the bell rings and a brawl breaks out that the bigger, stronger Charlie Cook gets the better of. Cook sends Gilbert down to the mat with a right hand and then runs into him with a shoulder block that sends him down to the mat as Gilbert gets back up. Cook starts trash talking him and the crowd "This boy thinks he's a man? I'm gonna show him what a real man is!" Cook picks Gilbert up and body slams him down HARD to the mat. Cook picks him up and goes for another body slam but this time Gilbert pulls him into a small package for a 2 count that was very close to a 3. Cook gets up ticked off and blasts Gilbert with a clothesline. Cook picks Gilbert up and tosses him out of the ring and continues to trash talk him, calling him a boy in a man's world. Gilbert gets up on the apron only to get sent back down to the floor with a big open hand slap from Charlie Cook. Cook trash talks some more while Gilbert is outside the ring, saying he's gonna put Eddie over his knee once this match is over. Gilbert gets back up on the apron and this time he ducks a Charlie Cook right hand and drives his shoulder into Cook's midsection and then vaults over him with a sunset flip that almost puts Cook away! Cook starts hammering on Gilbert again as he tries to get back up from the sunset flip and whips him into the corner. Cook goes charging in after Gilbert but ends up eating a boot! Cook staggers back and Gilbert comes at him with a series of right hands that rock the big former pro football player and send him down to the mat. Eddie Gilbert tries to get up to the top rope before Cook is back up to his feet but Cook is up too fast and he slams Gilbert down off the top rope. Charlie Cook gets down in the 3 point stance as Gilbert starts making his way back up to his feet but Gilbert vaults over him as he comes charging in and tries to sunset flip him again! The referee counts to 4 before Cook tosses Gilbert down to the mat. Charlie Cook again gets down in the 3 point stance as Gilbert is getting up and this time he connects with the football tackle and pins Gilbert for the count of 3. Winner: Charlie Cook in 7:42 after a football tackle After the match Charlie Cook shoves down referee Jack Howe and pulls his belt off of him! Cook takes the referee's belt and starts whipping Eddie Gilbert with it! Charlie Cook really lays in the shots and the welts start immediately forming on Eddie's back as Cook goes to town on him with the belt. Jack Howe tries to stop Charlie Cook but he gets shoved down again! Jimmy Doo and The Masked Wildfire run out and try to to help Eddie Gilbert but they get blasted by Charlie Cook who has wrapped the belt around his fist! Jack Howe gets shoved down again as he tries to put a stop to it and finally Mike Jackson, Roy Lee Welch & Ron Starr run out and chase Charlie Cook out of the ring. As Charlie Cook is heading to the locker room, referee Jack Howe talks to the time keeper and ring announcer and it's announced that due to Charlie Cook's actions after the match, the referee has reversed the decision! Winner: Eddie Gilbert by reversed decision AWA Southwest Tag Team Titles: El Gran Apollo & Jose Lothario vs. Texas Dynasty © - Jose & Tully start the match and Tully continues to stall and back away from Jose, continually calling for Jose to tag out to El Gran Apollo. David gets in on it, taunting Jose from the apron about how he knocked him out on TV with one punch. Finally Jose gets tired of playing the game and looks to the crowd to see if they want Apollo in. The crowd gives it's approval so Jose just decides to tag out to Apollo. Apollo comes in and Tully offers a handshake but Apollo is having none of that and slaps his hand away. Apollo tries to lock up but Tully instead puts a knee into his gut and tries to drag him over to the Dynasty's corner but instead Apollo uses his strength advantage to pull Tully into HIS corner where Jose tags himself in and BLASTS Tully with a right hand. Tully rolls out of the ring and Sunshine consoles him while David complains to the referee about a closed fist and says it should be a DQ. Tully again starts calling for Jose to get out and let Apollo come in but Jose just keeps challenging him to get back in. Tully rolls under the bottom rope to break the count but then rolls right back out again. David comes in and cheap shots Jose from behind while he's focused on Tully outside the ring and the referee gets distracted by Apollo trying to come in to help which allows Tully & David to double team Jose! David puts Jose's neck on the middle rope and drives his knee in Jose's back while Tully pulls down on his head, choking him. The referee finally turns around and starts trying to get David out of the ring which allows Sunshine to slap Jose across the face without the referee seeing it! Tully comes back in the ring and tries to grab a hold of Jose's arm but Jose slips out of his grasp and blasts him with an uppercut that sends Tully sprawling backwards into his corner. Jose almost makes the mistake of following him into the corner but thinks better of it and waits. David starts mocking Jose again about knocking him out and Jose gets ticked off and rushes into the Dynasty's corner! Khan gets on top of Duggan and starts driving the cast covered thumb down into Duggan's shoulder in a modified nerve hold as the crowd starts chanting "Duggan, Duggan." Khan gets freaked out by the chants and picks Duggan up and body slams him down on the concrete floor of the HemisFair arena. Killer Khan backs off of Duggan and raises the cast covered thumb into the air, signaling for the Death Blow as the crowd starts to scream for Duggan to look out. Duggan is up to his knees and sees Khan coming in and meets him with a giant Spear! Both men are down on the floor as the crowd keeps chanting for Duggan to get up. They both get to their feet at the same time and Khan sends a chop at Duggan's head and Duggan responds with a big right hand. 24. Watched that match this morning looking for some inspiration to write something for the fantasy project. Duggan was so fucking awesome in Mid-South man. His bloody comebacks where he looks like a deranged caveman are about as good as fired up babyface comebacks get.
  25. I would never sell someone on a match as an "all time classic" even if I felt it was one because when you do that it sends people in with giant expectations that almost never live up to the hype. The furthest I would go is great. But I realize I'm an outlier on that. I don't even like to give away finishes when I write about a match regardless of how old or well known it is.
