Have you seen Cena/RVD from One Night Stand 2006? I think you would enjoy that just for the crowd dynamics of John Cena defending his title in front of a hardcore ECW crowd who is 100% in favor of RVD.

dedhemingway has authorized me to select for Central States Robert Reed From my understanding, that takes dedhemingway out of the draft as he told me he only wanted two more jobbers. He can confirm/deny this in the discussion thread. Either way this is my last day of doing proxy picks. Jesse Ewiak - Time Expired Cross Face Chicken Wing Wahoos Leg - by me Boon - by me Flyin' Brian

He either made a huge impression on people in that area to where they remembered him for years (at least into 1986 for Alabama) or he just had some kind of crazy charisma that instantly made people like him. Maybe some of both. -

The article says they teamed as cousins:http://www.mikemooneyham.com/2003/02/23/burrhead-jones-legend-of-the-ring/ I actually read up on everything I could find about him after coming across him in a job match in Continental and wondering why this job guy was so over and had such obviously well known taunts and dances. -

I know which one I'd rather watch and it isn't Ziggler.

"I find that highly unlikely." According to Meltzer the 3 shows they ran in Fort Worth started at 300 then down to 125 & they stopped at 31. This was my summation of Southwest & Joe Blanchard when talking to someone about why I wanted them: Southwest, WWA & All Star are probably the easiest territories to book better than what they were. -

Well I don't have anyone with the drawing power of Tiger Conway Jr. to run in Ohio so you're safe. -

He may have been thinking about going national as late as 1983. I read about Southwest running some shows in Ohio but this is the only result I could find. Not a very good lineup for breaking into a new area. September 1983 - Warren, Ohio 1. Ivan Beulah beat The Mercinary 2. Rocky Jones Mike Masters defeated The Chopper 3. Luis Martinez defeated King Kong Casey 4. Scott Casey beat Bobby Jaggers MAIN EVENT For the Southwest Heavyweight Title 5. Tully Blanchard defeated Tiger Conway Jr. to retain his title -

Joe Blanchard had a lot of plans, not many of them seemed to be all that good. He had a plan to run against WCCW in Fort Worth in 1983 at the height of Freebirds vs. Von Erichs. It went poorly. He tried to run against Paul Boesch in Houston in a city where Paul Boesch was beloved. Those names you mentioned would work Southwest but I wonder if it wasn't like working Hawaii for guys who wanted to go back to Texas for a little bit. -

Southwest was a stop-over territory. It's title histories are loaded with vacancies from guys who just said "fuck this" and left. Yes, guys like Wahoo & The Funks would work there sometimes but it was mostly just dropping in for a little bit never really for an extended stay. -

Man have you seen their shows on USA Network? It's the same kinda guys who were there before they had a national TV deal. That deal didn't last long anyway. The starting roster isn't loaded with big names, even if you add in Gino who was there until May. -

I think this is likely an exaggeration but neither of us can really prove anything when it comes to arguing over it. I will just simply say he wasn't a fit for me. Didn't have any established history in Southwest and I am trying to roleplay that I can't just use people in ways they would never have agreed to and San Antonio was on the very low tier of promotions and you'd have never gotten a Swede Hanson to go there and essentially be a job guy. -

It's not just simulating the financial aspect, it's also taking into account does he fit in the territory's established history or with the talent already drafted? I mean if JCP didn't want him his value to most other people isn't as high as it would be to them. He mostly worked up and down the east coast in JCP, WWF & Toronto areas so outside of that "name value" really doesn't even come into account. I'm not "cracking" over it I just don't understand what value does he really have if he can't sell a ticket. He costs more than another guy on the card who is also not selling tickets. -

It is, I never disputed that. I just think it's way more important at the top than it is in the middle or the bottom. There really isn't much else besides jobbers, old guys & guys with some low level talent left so it wasn't a bad pick at all but I don't think it's all that hard to see why he was still on the board. I mean there are still a few guys like him left still. -

Without trying to pick at you, I think you've placed "name value" as more important than anyone else in the draft. I'm gonna sell my shows on The Fabs, Duggan & hoping to see Tully die. Swede Hanson doesn't improve my posters or marquee even if people would know his name if they saw it. -

Well pretty much since round 13-14 onward there have been a lot of guys who were really valuable who were left on the board in favor of someone who was either totally washed up or kind of a limited prospect. I don't see Swede as one of the misses though, he's a better big territory fit than a small one. A "big star" in a small territory needs to get some kind of actual push and I still don't see what you can really do with him. I can't use him against The Fabs that's for sure. -

If I need a jobber I'd much rather have a Tony Zane who is going to be able to get punished and tossed around not a 50 year old guy who you can't be picking up and press slamming and abusing in the same manner. Jobbers are to be BEAT ON not just beaten. -

Do you really think that 1. All-Star in Vancouver or Portland Wrestling are going to pay Swede Hanson to come and do jobs? 2. A young guy who can actually bump and move couldn't do the job better? He wouldn't have a name in Vancouver or Portland anyway. -

Yes. It's unrealistic for a small time promotion to pay a big name to be a jobber. That's essentially all he was doing on those WWF cards in 83 on. -

You have a very unrealistic WWF roster JVK so that seems like an odd way to look at it. Where was he even getting regular work in July, 83? -

Some of us don't want to have a bunch of old washed up geezers having shitty matches on our cards.
