  1. WM IX for sure, but it might be a tossup between it and Bash 91.
  2. I just said it in another forum and I'll say it here too. If CM Punk misses WrestleMania so they can give the Great Fucking Khali a title shot, they can forget about my $49.95 no matter what else they put on that fucking show.
  3. Is the Lawler-Brisco match the one hour broadway? I think I've seen the last ten minutes of it, which was very well done. Some of these matches begin to run together after a while.
  4. I would like to see that Thesz-Rogers broadway for the sheer nostalgia of it. I also happen to like workers in the mold of Race and Flair, and I've liked what I've seen of Thesz (which is admittedly only three or four matches). I've never seen a Schmidt match I liked aside of one with Verne Gagne in Buffalo, never saw Palmer or Silverstein, etc. etc. Thesz had to be doing something right to be on top of the NWA for such a long period of time, but even I'll admit that more footage of him is needed before we can include Thesz on a list of greatest workers of all-time. I know I never saw Thesz in person, and without that, it's hard to include him for a fact on such a list.
  5. In fairness to the Thesz matches listed there, most of us have only seen a handful of those workers, and I can't imagine any of the matches outside of possibly Carpentier being any good with Thesz carrying 100% of them. Mighty Atlas and Hans Schmidt were good at drawing heat but weren't great workers by any stretch; Bronko would have been nearing the end of his career, and Thesz hated Rogers so he likely wouldn't have done much to make him look good. Not saying I even liked Carpentier as a worker (only seen two or three matches with him), but that doesn't look like a great collection of workers. Of course, if Thesz is truly the best ever there shouldn't be a bad match among them.
  6. There were clips of a Rikidozan-Thesz match on YouTube at one point (might still be there for all I know). Same match or a different one?
  7. As much as I didnt want to see Edge vs. Cena again, that match last night was better than some of their PPV efforts (SummerSlam included). Not fond of the finish, but there was some good stuff there while it lasted. Too bad I fell asleep ten minutes later with the Cryme Tyme bit.

  9. About the closest thing WWE has to a breakout superstar right now is CM Punk, and somehow I doubt he's ever going to get anything resembling the push Rodimer's due to get, no matter how over he already is with the WWE crowd.
  10. What I did notice is that even when Maeda started shooting on him, Andre didn't really do much except let Maeda kick him. Almost like he was supposed to kill him but didn't really want to. But yeah, that was a shitty match. 26:37 bell to bell and maybe five minutes of contact.
  11. While I'll admit to having never seen Morishima before, wouldn't Morishima-Marufuji be a better match than Misawa-Morishima at this point? Or would styles actually dictate Misawa would be the better match? Strictly from a match quality factor and not necessarily business-wise?
  12. Andre the Giant vs. Akira Maeda (4/29/1986) This is the famous match where Andre doesn't sell for Maeda, and Maeda gets pissed and starts kicking the fuck out of him. What are everybody's opinions about this? My thoughts: Obviously Andre wasn't as tough as most made him out to be, although he was past his prime at this point. NOTE: This is in four parts and I've only linked to part 1.
  13. The first match was great, and the second one should be as well, and I care because I like great wrestling, but TNA hasn't made me feel like I have to order this show. I'll see it on YouTube in a month, I'm sure.
  14. In fairness to Meltzer, it was Angle's publicist who told him about Angle. But yeah, that would probably count.
  15. The thought occurs to me. Heyman's promo before the EC where he said "Even when I'm gone, ECW will live on." Makes me think one of two things. Either A) it's a work or Heyman decided to tell Vince exactly what he thought, expecting to get fired over it.
  16. Seems like an odd work though, considering the wwe.com preview for tonight's ECW already had Paul Heyman exercising the Big Show's rematch clause. Why imply heyman's part of the story if this is all an angle?
  17. Well, when the only two people ECW fans give a shit about are the first two eliminated in the main event, and they're forced to sit there for ten minutes watching four people they could give fuck all about, and you blame the guy who said "If you do that the crowd's going to shit on it", I wouldn't have waited to be fired. I'd have gone home voluntarily and collected my paycheck.
  18. Remember, Russo thought David Arquette: World Champion was a success because USA Today had a picture of Arquette holding the title belt the next day. Never mind that it hurt the bottom line in the long (and short) run.
  19. No option for less than 100,000 buys? Other than the Royal Rumble, there have to be three matches I want to see on a show before I'll order. Since there's barely three matches announced for the show, I think I'll pass.
  20. JHawk

    UFC buys WEC

I've got to think the TV deal is included in that. Otherwise there's no need for it.
  21. My dad ordered the show (he always orders the Big Four), so I'm heading there tonight to watch it.
  22. I'll go to shows and write down the results and match times (not every show you'll ever attend is actually going to be available on DVD, you know). That's the extent of it though. And that's just because I like knowing how long wrestling matches go.
  23. Saving my money for Survivor Series (my dad prefers the big four WWE shows to anything TNA puts out for some reason), but I'm sure it'll be available for download a few days after.
