  1. Match #5 - Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko v New Age Outlaws As much as I would like to vote for Benoit and Malenko, the Outlaws had more success and more longevity. Match #6 - Demolition v Outsiders The Outsiders were probably better draws, but some of Demolition's feuds (aside from the Colossal Connection) still hold up. It's painful watching tapes of Outsiders matches. Match #7 - Doom v Powers of Pain The Powers were around longer but never held a title together. A nine month reign as World Tag Team Champions overrules longevity as a team. Match #8 - Dream Team (Valentine/Beefcake) v Public Enemy Maybe if I had seen ECW on a regular basis a year earlier I'd have voted differently, but their ECW reigns are simply too far off the radar for me to vote for them.
  2. See, the way they hyped this up during the show is why I disagree with you. Rey said it was about redemption and not about winning. So why did he just casually walk to the ring and let Eddy play mindgames for nearly ten minutes? For a guy who was supposed to be hellbent on redemption, he sure decided redemption was best served without actually trying to redeem anything.
  3. I'm on the fence about it. A great match, yes, but they were building how much Rey wants redemption against Eddy the entire night. What does Rey do? He wrestles Eddy the first ten minutes. A great standalone match, but given the story they were supposed to be telling, not really. If that makes any sense.

  5. Well, Stephanie just doesn't want Heyman ass, I guess. This just shows how fucking worthless Stephanie McMahon is. It's an ECW show. Why even have the damn thing if Heyman wasn't going to get to work with it? This is merely a case of her being worried that a show he didn't control would blow anything she's ever done away. And it did. Stephanie for head writer of Eastenders. Hard to fuck up that hideous British soap.
  6. It occurs to me watching SmackDown that if my fiancee ever saw my reaction during Melina's ring entrance that she'd probably leave me at the altar.
  7. Cornette used this as part of a rant in both World Class (getting ready for a match with Sunshine) and JCP (getting ready for a feud with Misty Blue): "I've been training hard. I've done pushups, I've done pullups, I've done situps, I've done chinups, I threw up twice but I'm OK now..."
  8. Jim Cornette: "I hear they call Dusty's sister 'Federal Express'. Because every time she goes on a date, she absolutely positively has to be there overnight."

    1990 WCW

Wait a minute. Flair wanted to elevate Pillman. Jim Herd wanted Ric away from the main event. And it was Herd who wanted Flair to go over clean? I know Jim Herd's not a wrestling guy, but even by his standards that's pretty stupid. This is the same guy that wanted to book Flair against a peglegged wrestler because the figure-four would have no effect on a wooden leg. Idiot.

  11. I wish WWE would get their own dates right though. The Snuka-Backlund cage match was June 28, 1982. May 19, 1980 featured the Ken Patera-Bob Backlund "Texas Death" match. IIRC, Snuka was working Mid-Atlantic around that time. I think the Slaughter-Sheik match is actually from April and not May, but at least that's in the right area. At any rate, I preordered this at Amazon and can't wait for this one to arrive at my door.
  12. So basically, here's what I gather. 1. Nobody's buying tickets to the show because front row costs more than any other PPV outside of possibly WrestleMania. 2. They think it's a sign the show won't do well. 3. They decide to push the PPV around WWE superstars that have never set foot in an ECW ring. 4. True ECW fans are getting pissed. 5. WWE wants it to be a success because Stephanie McMahon's ego needs boosted. 6. The show is likely to bomb despite being guaranteed money in the bank. 7. They'll blame ECW and not WWE where it belongs. 8. ECW officially dies on June 12. I swear to God, hyenas could run that company better right now. I can understand using Vince as on-air owner as a way to explain ECW's existence after the Alliance lost the Winner Take All Match at Survivor Series 2001. Outside of that, this show should be about ECW and only about ECW. Anybody with half a brain can realize that. Sadly, Paul E. might be the only guy with half a brain left in that company.
  13. I think the original plan was supposed to be more of a nostalgia trip where we are time-warped back to 1997. I meant what the plan was for Bischoff's involvement.
  14. I love my feedback, I really do. Got two pieces of completely differing feedback on my rant on why they shouldn't push Triple H. For those of you who missed it, here's the snippet: Here is the response I got from one reader. After explaining to the guy that with Christian insanely over, Jericho turning heel, and Edge's guaranteed shot, you've got a nice set of fresh PPV main events waiting before you even factor in any SmackDown draftees, I read the following e-mail from another reader: I was merely using crowd reactions as a basis for my argument, and this guy used kayfabe to pretty much call the booking committee out. Anyway, I wanted to pose the following question for the group. Obviously, Triple H has been better from an in-ring standpoint over the past year, but is he still at a point where you want to see him main event? Why or why not?
  15. It doesn't bother me that they're portraying ECW as being owned by Vince, because it at least gives some sort of explanation how ECW can still be around despite being killed off at Survivor Series 2001. Plus, the bankruptcy info is all a matter of public record anyway, so it'd be hard to portray it as anything else. Agreed, especially since Edge really hasn't done much with tables outside of TLC matches (and generally stayed away from the tables in those matches). I'd like to know exactly what the plan was before saying it's a better idea. It wouldn't have anything to do with ringside being $400, would it? Hell, I was planning a road trip to NYC for the weekend for this show until I saw it would cost me an entire paycheck just for my ticket.
  16. A good gimmick match is still a good match. Hell, probably the defining match of Magnum T.A.'s career was the I Quit Match with Tully Blanchard, and you could call that an overdramatized cage match if you'd like and be relatively adequate. That doesn't stop that match from being a classic. Did anybody actually see last night's match though?

  18. I find it interesting that a majority of the people I know that can see Impact now wouldn't be able to if they went to WGN. Has Panda Energy been made aware of that so they don't kill the company getting a "national" TV contract?
  19. "I think Chyna and Lita should hug again ... for a couple of ... hours." -Paul Heyman "Paul Heyman has the body of a God. Unfortunately, it's Buddha." -Jerry Lawler "If this referee doesn't make it here, he can make it in the NBA. He didn't see a damn thing." -Jim Ross
