  1. Cactus does a tremendous interview, pointing out that he's about to go through Douglas to win the ECW title. In this one, he compares love for belts to love for women. Typically strong Cactus talking, but this stands out for how he puts the belt over.
  2. Shawn is back. Where was he anyway? Selling the Sid injury I know, but really, where was he? Good video.
  3. Bob Backlund announces that he is running for President and immediately, a marching band comes out playing "Hail To The Chief". Funny stuff. I love when Vince asks "What is the meaning of this?" when the meaning is quite apparent.
  4. Sid's pre-match promo, and the camera angle, shows why despite everything this guy kept getting chance after chance to show he could draw on top. Last few minutes of the match. Diesel kicked out of the powerbomb, which he should have, considering how long Sid took to gloat about powerbombing him. Diesel has the match won when Tatanka runs in for the DQ. Bigelow makes the save to set up the King of the Ring main event.
  5. "That's not his mother!" In a funny moment, Lawler has a young model with him that he claims is his mother, and he's dedicating the match to her. Bret was selling a knee injury at the end of the Hakushi match to throw Lawler off his game coming into this one. Bret no-sold the piledriver? Really? That may be the worst thing I've ever seen Bret do, especially considering that his Hulk up got no reaction. Not a good match, but it gives Lawler something to gloat about, which is always fun. The ref's ankle got caught in the ring ropes after a bump, creating an opening for Hakushi to run in and help Lawler win. Hebner looks right at the interference an pretends not to see it. He sucks. And after all that, Bret still gets his heat back? What was the point?
  6. This Syracuse crowd LOVES Bret. These two have really good chemistry. Hakushi has fun highspots, but even more than that, Bret does a good job of eating those moves. For the last 10 minutes of this, it seems like they're 2-3 minutes away from wrapping up the match, which is lots of fun. I didn't expect the Asai moonsault to change course at the end when Bret looked like he was about to beat up Shinja and then come back in and finish this up. Nice rollup finish too.
  7. Of course, before the match starts, Shane Douglas is going on and on, shooty shoot shoot despite not being part of this match, and we get the debut of Bill Alfonso. I love strict enforcing of the rules in ECW. This was better than I thought it would be, mostly thanks to Whipwreck, although Raven is even better than usual here. I like both Raven and Dreamer DDTing their seconds before finally building to a brawl between the two, only for Alfonso to DQ Dreamer within seconds for throwing a closed fist! FAN-TASTIC! Great finish. I wish I could make out what Cactus and Douglas were saying after the match on the house mic, but that was the biggest weakness in ECW production at this point.
  8. At least it wasn't yet another way of trashing Punk for criticizing Rock.
  9. Eddy is wearing his Black Tiger getup without the mask. We get nearly 15 minutes of footage, but there is some clipping. Styles is way too heavy-handed on commentary. Not much to say about this. It's not bad, but it doesn't really stand out in a positive way either. The Hostile City Showdown match was much better. Eddy bleeds, but they don't really factor it into the match at all. Another draw.
  10. Savage asks his dad if they did the right thing in pushing for Flair's reinstatement. Angelo warns him that they seem awfully confident and probably have something up their sleeve. The easy listening guitar music in the background kills me.
  11. Morton hypes the scaffold match with Al Snow by dropping a watermelon off the side of a building. Page from the Starrcade '86 build, I see. He's still wearing the neckbrace, which tells me we're going to get some awesome selling in that match. Morton is an underrated talker. Then we cut to an interview with Al Snow in the Volunteer Slam arena before anyone has showed up. He points out how far he went to take Morton out on the ground, so imagine what he's going to do when he's 20 feet in the air. Really good interview.
  12. What exactly is a ghetto street fight? DWB "has hung more people in professional wrestler than you've ever been in". The PG-13 video is set to Onyx's "Slam" and is fantastic! We start getting SMW vs USWA talk in the promo, a sign they're moving away from the Gangstas.
  13. Okay promo I guess, hyping Volunteer Slam.
  14. Brian Christopher is out for an interview and he isn't happy. He tears into old guys a little, says he'll never team with Dundee again, then asks Wolfie D to comes out. He wants a match where he teams with Wolfie. Wolfie tells him he ain't got no sense. Brian tells him JC Ice is holding him back and that JC Ice has badmouthed him hundreds of times. Dundee is finally back out to put Christopher in his place and wants a match teaming with his son against Christopher and Wolfie D. This is all really well done because the conversation flows in a way where you believe the circumstances that led to this match quickly. Dundee ends up punching Wolfie in the face, we have chaos and this is an awesome segment with all four of them pulling off everything they needed to do perfectly, with Brian Christopher as the instigator. USWA studio segment of the year at this point.
  15. Michael Hayes, now in as Dok Hendrix, transcribes what Diesel says in an interview with no audio and completely changes it to say he's about to retire and that he's scared. Funny.
  16. Bob Backlund is on a beach during Spring Break protesting the lack of morality on display. Pretty funny.
  17. Cactus and Douglas have a ... um ... pull apart promo.
  18. Raven and Dreamer have a brawl in a bar. This was really well done.
  19. Whipwreck video to "Connection" by Elastica, which is a great song.
  20. Good Cactus video to a HORRIBLE cover of "Born To Be Wild".
  21. Public Enemy are sitting in a boat in Florida drinking wine and gloating being the champions. I can barely understand a word they're saying.
  22. Cactus cuts a quick promo on Shane Douglas and quickly gets confronted by the Triple Threat. Sandman and Woman take a potshot at Cactus during the argument. This is pretty good, but the camerawork hides Cactus's face when he's face to face with Douglas and the sound goes out in the middle, so the production hurts this.
  23. I think Vince had the best intentions for Bigelow early on with the push. I miss these sit-down, looking at no one in particular interviews in wrestling. He comments on Lawrence Taylor, Diesel and his future.
  24. This gimmick was a terrible misuse of Sunny and Candido, but they make the most of it. This is pretty funny, with them looking inside our living rooms and throwing insults.
