  1. Agreed. That was actually a pretty deep storyline.
  2. I'll take emotion and hatred over "exciting action" any day of the week. Everything in Slaughter/Sheik builds so beautifully from one sequence to the next. On one hand, it's well-structured with unbelievably awesome build and strikes that count, and on the other hand, it's a brutal, bloody, heated, emotional, epic encounter. Slaughter putting Sheik face first into his own boot gets more heat than any Canadian Destroyer I have ever seen.

  4. Rey & Batista v MNM - aired on Smackdown 12/23/05 I said the wrong match in the other thread.

I think some people don't really pay attention to the matches and just call things great based on the reputation. If it's Shawn Michaels against Chris Benoit or Kurt Angle, hey, it's got to be great. And if it's Mark Henry versus Big Show, it can't possibly be, because of who they are. Big Show is another worker who's improved substantially, but he'll never be good in some people's eyes because they base "good" on athleticism and not much else. I don't know what more people could really want from Big Show that they don't get at least most of the time.
  6. Oh ok. I just didn't know what 21/05 meant. And for the record, I think Slaughter/Sheik from 06/16/84 is the greatest American wrestling match I've ever seen.
  7. What is a 21/05?

Obviously, some of it, but there are plenty of people that Angle and Rey have not had good matches with, so some of it has to be attributed to Henry stepping up.
  9. Contract is not up. He was told they were happy with his work and that he would soon be brought back in a new role, which probably means he's about to get fired.

If Shawn Michaels would turn heel and stick to it, 90% of my problems with him would cease to be.
  11. This isn't really all that funny, but I sure am laughing at it anyway for some reason. I almost think I'm enough of a Ricky Morton mark to wrestle on a benefit show for him, honestly. On a serious note, though, WWE should really be employing Morton as a road agent.

In their defense, sometimes exaggeration is used to make a point, but people have a tendency to take everything l.i.t.e.r.a.l.l.y. as well. Saying a match had a "million" false finishes, for example, isn't a *lie* if it just had a lot of them.

  14. Oh, and they could have Bruce Hart as a plant at ringside constantly trying to get on TV and Diana Hart-Smith as the Crying Woman anytime a heel attacks a babyface.
  15. I think Maria's ditzy character is awesome, but I'm not sure that's really a guilty pleasure.
  16. They should also bring in Ricky Morton, Marty Jannetty and Warrior Warrior. Any other scummy or semi-scummy free agents I'm missing?
  17. This is good stuff. Thanks for writing it. I still haven't seen that elimination match, despite lots of pimping of it.

I think, for the record, the DVDVR guys are smoking crack sometimes on their tastes, but I respect them for putting it all out there, and more than any other "established" writer or group of writers online, they'll talk to anyone who questions anything they say.

  25. Oh, and then on top of that, bring in Rick and Scott Steiner. I'd watch, out of morbid curiosity.
