    WWE TV 8/28-9/4

I guess it doesn't really matter, but I'd put Cena over. There's no reason for Cena-Reigns to be one and done. When Reigns beats Cena, there's no reason to do more matches. They can probably get a three-match series out of it. I'm also not even sure Brock-Braun needs to have a conclusive finish. How does it benefit anything for either guy to lose to the other at this point?

  4. I don't think the goal would be to win so much as it would be to make it really difficult to debut him and stall any plans. This is how WWE operates, like when they accidentally on purpose kept missing parts of the paperwork to grant Flair's full release in 1993, or the attempted and failed barriers they tried to put in place for WCW to use Hall and Nash. The last major star that left and wrestled somewhere else was Kurt Angle, and they fired him, and the circumstances were very different. So you could say this isn't how they are anymore and that's quite possibly true, but then I think about how they were with TNA when they did the Extreme Reunion, threatening lawsuits over crowd chants and use of initials. I would guess that to be on the safe side, Daniel Bryan won't encourage "Yes"-ing and might make some changes to his look, none of which are crucial to his popularity in the first place.

  7. If a lot of the last few minutes stuff that aired on TV is sitting somewhere, or other untelevised matches from TV tapings were recorded, the WCW library is amazingly ripe. The question of course if it's still marketable. Even those of us who were young when WCW died are now in our 30s and 40s. Flair-Steamboat/Crockett era types are mostly in their 40s and 50s. So it's a double whammy -- not only is it The Enemy, but it's an older base than they want to admit they have.

  10. Shaking leg from bodyslam was awful, but everything else about his selling I liked.
  11. It was started when he did WWE media PR outside of Chris Benoit's funeral and was in that context. That it has continued ten years later to talk all things Jim Ross is a surprise to me. So we'll close the thread now that the convo has subsided.
  12. I'm going to close this soon. Wrap up any conversations you currently have and start a new thread for GFW if you care to do so. This was never intended to be a catch-all thread for all things TNA. It was started to ask a very specific question. At some point, I or one of the mods should probably break off some of the posts into more specific topics. TNA was probably mostly terrible, but it's not really fair to do a thread discussing them where that's the topic name either.
  13. On second thought, I'll let this ongoing conversation play out, then lock it.
  14. This was never meant to be a Jim Ross catch-all thread. It was just meant to be a thread about his WWE wagon circling in the immediate aftermath of the Benoit murders. I'm not changing the name, but I'll close it. Start a new thread if you'd like to discuss other things about Jim Ross. If you want to split off some of the posts into another thread, use the Report feature to say which ones so I or one of the mods can take care of it.
  15. What's the best Cena-Show match? It seems like they've feuded at least five or six times, right?

  17. Something helpful with Low Ki matches is that he used to track all of the dates and results for his own matches on his website, which can still be found on the Wayback machine. There's also a Low Ki-El Hijo del Santo vs Mike Quackenbush-El Mariachi match from 04/16/00 I'm determined to find.
  18. I'm still not sure I've forgiven WWE for not letting Punk-Bryan close that show when that was Cena's match.
  19. Whatever storyline gets to the end result of Owens in a tag team with a certain generic masked wrestler from Tijuana would be highly beneficial to both of them.
  20. The Low Ki vs Trent Acid cage match was on 7/16/00 in Jersey Championship Wrestling. I've been looking for it for months! Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. JCW shows in general are almost impossible to find.

  22. I was impressed by how many things they managed to juggle in that Cena-Reigns-Miz-Joe segment. Set up the night's main event, along with a few short-term feuds and long-term feuds for both Cena and Reigns. Really impressive how they did all of that without it being bloated. Cena's Shawn Michaels facial expressions can leave, though.
  23. And DG, Progress, Rev Pro, and other places. They just don't get star ratings. His timeline being multiple versions of the same point about WWE matches not getting ***** or how matches would have gotten ****** if they happened in New Japan is nauseating. He always replies to those. Without fail.
  24. From what I understand, a lot of the tests available for concussions right now can show false optimism if the subject is especially intelligent or has a high IQ. That applies to Bryan, and it could be giving him false hope. I hope that's not the case, and I don't know if that's the case for every single test available.
  25. I don't think they'll mess with him so much. I think they'll mess with the company that signs him, much like they did WCW with Hall and Nash. The most recent example of something like this was when TNA did the Extreme Reunion. We'll see, but I just think if they weren't going to play games like that, they would have let him go when he asked them to let him go last year.
