  1. I've seen the Hardys in some really good traditional tags. Are we going to credit that entirely to Matt?

I'm very confused by what he said now.

Braun is unique among those guys in that his upper body has an upper body.

It was a great angle. Just wait until Stephanie has a word with him. (I'm being mostly flippant, but you know that's coming.) I don't think they have to do this, but Stephanie firing him and him redoing the ROH thing where he randomly shows up unexpectedly for a while would be fun.
  6. I'll always remember a Hogan lumberjack match against someone on Nitro in the early days where Regal was a lumberjack and wore flannel with his ruffles, which was amazing. I know Shawn and Duggan had one in the early days of Raw that people really liked, but I never saw it. I know WWE likes to take an approach with their TV to make sure first-time viewers aren't completely lost, which is a good thing, even if it means we hear a lot of the same things over and over, like Michael Cole asking JBL or Booker T every single week what it's like to be in the ring with someone specific and then forgetting their answer. Anyway, that's why with lumberjack matches, I always appreciate announcers explaining WHY they are called that.

If they were really pushing this hard as Strowman's big coronation, like Luger at Summerslam '93, I'd agree. But they aren't.

  9. I thought we were just talking matches between WM3 and WM10. Are we talking ever? Because that opens things up. I just wondered because I do see some people talking about matches before WM3.
  10. Savage-Warrior from Wrestlemania VII is not the greatest match in WWF history, but it just might be the greatest WWF match in history.
  11. How do you mean? Do you mean I can't put say a commercial release next to a match to signify where it came from? I mean, don't identify bootleggers.
  12. This works, as long as you're just listing the matches without revealing sources.
  13. Dave's primary job isn't to watch everything. It's to watch what's either hot or catching on. He reports on business first and foremost. He has commented on Trevor Lee and Io Shirai and modern All Japan and other stuff in a way that makes me think he watches way more than he talks about. Still, there are only so many hours in a day, and how can we ask this guy to spend even more time on wrestling than he already does?

I don't think the reason to make anyone champion is to get them more over, but that's a different conversation. It wasn't a complaint, just an observation that a long Braun title run where he seemed unstoppable would be really cool to follow.
  15. The copies being sold early mentioned way earlier in this thread remind me of my days in retail when we lived for that kinda thing. 1996-1998ish. You'd find a competing store selling something before the release date and go buy it so you could turn in the receipt to whomever my bosses turned in the receipt and they'd get so busted. I have no idea what the consequences were, but I just remember that being a huge deal back then. We'd always get upset when the retailer would create plausible deniability for themselves by not actually labeling it properly, so on the receipt, it would just say "VIDEOTAPE $18.99" or something similar.

He's a superheavyweight talent at a level we haven't seen since Vader. I wish 2-3 year title runs were still a thing.

What I never understand about guys they obviously don't like at all like Dolph is why they even keep them employed. Just let them go!

Moving on. Let's kill this particular topic of conversation so that we don't kill this particular topic of conversation.

  20. I am locking this thread just because we typically don't discuss obtaining copies of copyrighted footage in this folder. Since you are brand new to the board, I thought I'd grant you some leeway since you wouldn't have really had a way to know that. If you have any questions about the show, or if no one contacts you, please PM me. Thanks.
  21. I have asked him to contact you. His name is goodhelmet. 😀

  23. Agreed. You'll notice there are certain types of issues Dave has always talked around where he trusts his readers to understand what he means and why he's not elaborating. I don't know that this is that, but we'll see if his follow-up reporting goes in that direction. Sometimes, that's to protect himself for legal reasons, but more often, it's because Dave doesn't break anything that could damage someone in wrestling personally. You might hear about political maneuvering or Vince's latest obsession, but Dave himself isn't going to break domestic violence stories, drug and alcohol issues, or infidelity, even when he knows about it. As a more known example, remember that Randy Orton "violated a company policy" before WM22, and he left it at that. We only later found out that he was smoking pot out in the open in front of everyone. Sometimes, Dave is overly vague and ends up having to issue clarification after the fact when people read something that isn't there. If that's the case with Corbin, I trust that he'll do that, just like he always has.

They were his friends, and he was the one who suggested hiring them. He was already at kind of a not-very-good point working with DDP and being tossed aside before the end of his program with Austin in favor of Benoit and Jericho. He was working through some rough injuries and also getting some criticism for not selling for anyone. So yeah, having this bad of a match with guys he recommended didn't come at a good time, even if all was forgotten pretty quickly.

They fired Kronik in 2001 because their one and only match was so awful. They lasted even less time than Bagwell.
