    Jim Ross interviews Lex Luger. He gets out a couple of words before Nikita is out to challenge him. They end up in a brawl and the locker room empties to pull them apart. Surprisingly little heat for all of this.

    Another really good WCW TV match with bad booking. Lots of good body part work and some typical Arn sequences, like the bodyscissors into the Boston crab spot. Rich still doesn't really work up to his potential, as everything good about this is because of Arn. I'm not sure why Sid needed to run out and interfere, and it's ridiculous that he managed to botch that spot even. Did that really add something to the match? I guess Dusty's lesson learned returning to WCW was that you can give away plenty of interesting matches on TV, as long as they don't have finishes.

    Dusty conducts the interview. They are sort of teasing dissension in the Horsemen in something I don't remember at all. Maybe Dusty was finally planning on doing his 1988 angle that he never got the chance to do. Windham is speaking with a weird inflection here.

    Paul Bearer has debuted the Funeral Parlor, and in a nice touch, he has no guest because everyone is afraid to come on the show!

    They have a brand new opening, overly American in theme, showing Hogan doing American hero-type stuff. Randy Savage has now joined Vince and Piper at the booth, and that is quite a bit of personality in one place.

    Super match. I didn't expect this to be so good, but I think it's better than the Hogan/Hansen match the year before. Tenryu is his usual reliable self, but Hogan and particularly Hawk bust their asses, bleed, swing furniture around and take some nice bumps. Hogan looks really great here, maybe the best I have ever seen him look, and the Road Warriors aren't far behind. They all seem especially amped up for this match. The finish was too 80s All Japan for my liking, and that takes it down a little bit, but I'm really impressed.

    The setting was a very strange one for this, but it was a great match, and something people should really check out. Sano quietly had a hell of career.

    Surprisingly, this was the least of their matches so far. It was still a solid match, but I was hoping for a little more violence. Plus, I HATE HATE HATE when referees try to enforce rules in matches like this. As a result of that small little detail, they end up doing the hide the chain bullshit, yet the referee doesn't call for the bell when they do use weapons in front of him, so what's the point in hiding the chain in the first place? That really ruined this match, in spite of the action being pretty good at times.

    It's Embry's hair vs Dundee's title. Kind of a disappointing match that doesn't get much time, and they don't do too much, but I still want to see rematches. Sweet Georgia Brown throws something in Dundee's face after a ref bump and Embry gets the win and takes the title.

    Pretty simple interview. Savage lost his career, but is reunited with Elizabeth. This is all about allowing that to sink in. They share a dance in a tender moment and there you go.

    Koko B. Ware performs with a Temptations cover band at some Vegas club. Watching Vince McMahon trying to show his soulful side around people of color never, ever, ever gets old. Heenan is great too. This is good fun.

    Seeing DiBiase next to Vince puts in perspective how big he was. He cuts a good promo on location in Las Vegas about Wrestlemania. They are pushing that Virgil holds a victory, as this feud continues to be impressively booked.

    So this is a match that Dave cited in the infamous message board post about Jumbo being lazy because he didn't try to have a great match with Foley. I don't know that I'd call him lazy. It's not a great performance or anything, but there's nothing particularly lazy about it. If there was a problem with this match, it's that Cactus's crazy bumps didn't play well in Japan because Japanese fans don't really pop for bumps like American fans do. Most of his signature spots were bumps at this point, and they tend to react more to wrestlers who are strong offensively. So Dave had it right the first time around.

    They really wanted to have a great match, and tried to make it special. I really liked the layout of this, and both guys worked hard. I think they had a good match, but it seemed like something was missing to really put it over the top. The crowd was hot, but not as hot as you would think. And Adnan distracting the ref during a Slaughter pin attempt was just completely awful and made no sense. Still, it's obvious what they were going for. The skeleton of a great match was there. They just didn't quite achieve it.

    This was in 1996. Flair was driven home by a girl from a party, apparently not aware she was underage. They were pulled over, and she was underage and drunk herself.

    Is there a really short way to summarize all the Ronda Rousey stuff for someone who has little to no interest in MMA? Who thinks what about her, what does Dave agree/disagree with, and what does he think about her? And who's right? If not, I won't worry about it. Thanks.

    If Punk/Undertaker is on for WM, it seems like rather than putting them in another six-man tag, involving them in the build of that match would make more sense. I hate how in WM build, every feud exists in its own universe and doesn't overlap. It's too "neat".

    It's a WWF-only thing, similar to Rock & Wrestling. WCW never used the phrase to describe their presentation. The "wrestling boom" obviously includes WCW in the late 90s, if you're looking for a catch-all term.

    It's interesting that they are making fun of right-wingers at the same time they are inducting the most high profile birther into their HOF.

    Lightning Kid vs Jerry Lynn in the October 1990 match on the yearbook. Really, his two best matches ever happened in 1990 - that and the Wellington Wilkins match.

    Slaughter has turned into a caricature. He's gone from offensive to this mustache-twirling clown, which I suppose is an improvement.

    Last few minutes. I still love Roddy Piper in crutches. So much other stuff was blown off on this show that I think waiting to do a conclusive DiBiase/Virgil finish was wise. Sherri sure as hell earned every cent she made working this show!

    What else is there to say about this match? This remains probably the best bit of storytelling in the history of the WWF, tying up quite a few angles and letting Savage ride off into the sunset, albeit temporarily. I had a few thoughts watching this match. One is that this is still something I should check out anytime I'm feeling cynical about wrestling. Another is that sadly, real life doesn't always parallel "the movies", and the story of Randy and Liz wasn't quite a fairytale. But the story of the Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth certainly was. I may be overrating this, and people may be able to point to flaws in terms of the mechanics of the match, but I really don't give a shit. The whole is so, so much more than the sum of the parts ever could be, which is what makes this match so great.

    This is not at all a great match, but it's a really smart performance and the perfect blowoff for my favorite WWF feud of this time period. Jake gets a lot of credit for this, but Martel came up with some pretty clever ideas himself. Total crowd pleasing match, and one that for whatever reason has some real replay value.
