Happened yesterday (3-18). I'd like to see that on Raw or as the reviewer said, WrestleMania. They'd be lucky to get 8 minutes at Mania.

I guess a lot of viewers switched off due to the bait and switch.

Cageside Radio 3/21/11 w/ Road Warrior Animal live call-in show

I'd be interested in hearing more about his thoughts on his last WWE run with Hawk (thoughts on teaming with Ahmed Johnson at WrestleMania 13, putting over the New Age Outlaws, short-lived break up angle with Hawk, Droz being added to the team, art imitating life with the drug addict angle, Hawk's "suicide" angle on Raw, etc). -
Things I learned by listening to Dave Lagana's podcasts.

I hadn't heard/forgot about that! But with ROH now without TV, you're not going to bury a meal ticket that you might need in the future. -

I think the "Vince and Steph are really nice people talking point" usually comes from ex writers who under the right circumstances would want their old jobs back. Though I do think Steph has genuinely mellowed out over the years now that she doesn't have to fight for everyone's respect. Vince on the other hand seems more volatile than ever. -
TNA finally sends Jeff Hardy home after ruining PPV main event

According to Dave on the latest Observer Radio show, the reason why TNA management were caught so flat footed was that Jeff turned up to the show "fine enough" (by his standards), worked out the whole match with Sting, then after the show had already started "whatever happened happened". The current plan is for Jeff to come back as a babyface, they think it would be really wonderful if he went to rehab, they realise that there is 1% chance that will happen, but they still plan to bring him back anyway. I mean how can you keep using a guy that you can't trust not to get wasted between the start of the show and the start of his match? -
Did WWE send them a gravy boat to show that they were sincere in their apology?

There was also the time that The Sandman got so wasted he exposed himself at an ECW house show in 2000. -

He just groped middle age women, keyed limos, got so drunk he had his foot run over by a car, refused entry on planes, openly mocked management on TV, insinuated that he was going to "accidentally" rough up Terry Taylor in an angle, etc. -

It took WCW forever to fire Scott Hall, so I think not. -
Yes, theoretically it does mean 8-10 cards in each major overseas market. I agree that they didn't need Strikeforce's talent to run more shows overseas, they had too much talent already. But they wouldn't have anywhere to air all those extra shows, as already Spike TV wouldn't pick up all of UFC's PPV prelim shows, forcing them to buy time on Ion to air the ones Spike didn't want to pick up. Zach Arnold is suggesting that the main advantage to buying Strikeforce is the money from their Showtime deal can bankroll UFC's international expansion plans.

I really think DK vs. Sayama 4/21/83 is the New Japan equivalent of Foley's Hell In The Cell match with Undertaker. I'm sure that you can still find lots of more casual fans that still go nuts for that Cell spectacle, but the work wasn't smart at all even though it had several jaw dropping moments. Which leads to another point over how positive Dynamite's and TM's legacy really was. Like Foley, many workers copied their bad traits as well as their good ones.

Dave said in his radio show today that UFC wants a regular presence in their overseas markets, no down time without live events there, meaning 8-10 shows per year in Australia, the UK, etc. Similar to Shane McMahon's short-lived idea of having full time WWE territories in all their major overseas markets.

Surely someone should have noticed that Jeff was in no condition to perform before he stumbled to the ring? Which is why I'm sceptical that this is a 100% shoot. -
The official thinking behind the purchase seems to be that it allows them to aggressively expand the number of shows they run, in particular internationally. These guys dream big of making this the biggest sport (monopoly) in the world within the next ten years. This aids them in that (unrealistic) goal. Regarding Bryan, his thinking was pretty clear from listening to the radio show. Strikeforce were overstretched idiots who were in over their heads, while Dana White is a promotional genius with a Midas touch. Think Ric Flair's reaction to WWE buying WCW ten years ago.

The latest announced WWE HOF inductee - Drew Carey! This is such a joke how one Royal Rumble cameo can get a celebrity in the HOF. EDIT: Brian Kendrick inducting him would be golden, but I guess it'll be Kane.

Yikes, UFC paid well over $40,000,000 for the company. They should have just let Doug DeLuca choke on that investment again.
-
They should really cut Jeff loose at the stage and save themselves the hassle and the dough. Or at least send him home without pay. This is getting beyond a joke.

Hashimoto may be above Choshu as a draw, because when he was the ace they ran Dome shows a lot more frequently than when Choshu was on top.

I think the new "business plan" for the film division was inspired by Vince blaming their movie partners Lionsgate for The Condemned with Steve Austin being such a flop. So now everything is done in house with the idea of having a very short theatrical release then going straight to DVD to save on marketing costs. WWE got a ton of tax breaks too for filming several movies in Louisiana. Moreover, I think to justify the cost of having a full time movie division they need to keep pumping out movies on a regular basis.

Chris Nowinski talking to Bill Simmons this week claimed that Benoit's colleagues had told him after his death that his memory had slipped so much that he had stopped planning his matches ahead of time and started calling all his matches by the fly instead.
-
Yeah, there may be more hidden gems to be found from Raw/Superstars/Action Zone. The Kid & Holly tag team had lots of good matches early in the year, Jarrett working competitive matches with all the undercard babyfaces as IC champion teasing title switches, any time Shawn appeared on TV, etc.

It can't do any worse than the last few movies they've released.

Cena's rep is that he won't throw out bad scripts, so Loss' point is a good one. I do think that they're trying so hard to be shocking in a wink wink, fly under the PG rating radar fashion, that they haven't thought through Cena's material very well at all.

As a civilian and not Pro Wrestling superstar, awesome I love how Bryan dissed TNA for failing to promote this appearance. Gee, I wonder why!
