  1. Their match from St. Louis is another really strong one between the 2. I have about either 9-11 of their match ups on DVD and they all range from good to excellent. Kerry's win for the title was the worse of the bunch, but still had tons of heat. The reason that match is the worst is because they didn't get enough time.
  2. Bix, why do you think their was a big standard deviation on the Bass/Santana match? Do you or anyone else out their think their reputations as lower/mid card(at that point in time) workers hurt them in some of the voters eyes. I personally liked the match a lot. I ranked it #11 on my ballot.
  3. I feel Garvin/Flair matched up real well. They worked a really good tight match. My main problem with Steamboat/Savage was you didn't feel the hatred. Was I overstating Flair/Garvin as a MOTYC in 87; probaly so. Still I enjoyed the Detroit matchup. They also had several really good matches throughout the years together. Ronnie Garvin was a teriffic worker in the 80's. I bought what he was trying to sell; except being "The Man"
  4. I ranked the Wrestlemania 3 match #2 on my ballot. I too thought the Flair/Windham matches were far superior to it, as was War Games. I even enjoyed the Flair/Garvin title change from Detroit more.
  5. I thought the project was great, and a lot of fun. The stats at the end were really interesting.Sure their were some bumps in the road which should result in a much smoother transition into the next batch.
  6. I just finished up the Watts book. It was a really good read. The keeping it real, and the land of the tough guys were really good. I also liked the chapter on the blockbuster trade. It was a little heavy handed on the relegion that sometimes felt like a lecture. Overall, just a really good read for the most part. I just got Tributes 1 in the mail so I'm looking forward to that book.

  8. The match with the MX and Magnum/Mr. Wrestling is a top 5 Condrey/Eaton MX version match for me. People have a tendency to crap on the Condrey version a lot because he doesn't have the charisma that Lane had, nor do they work the double teams as well as Eaton and Lane did. Condrey made up for it by brining the heat, and working the crowd into a frenzy. Magnum gets no respect as a worker. His work in the Nikita Koloff feud was really well done. Especially in match 6 and 7 that is on the comp. Sure Ivan helped by calling those matches, and Nikita had probaly the best match of his life in # 7 but Magnum really stepped up to the plate. His work with Dibiase was super strong as well. Magnum may never be a ring general, but he can work a good match and has been in a lot of classics.

  10. Another thing that was pretty cool and added to the realism was how even the police were getting worried by the crowd. When Cornette was using the ether rag on Rogers you could see the police officer have his billy club half way out of his holder waiting for the crowd to attack. That is real heat baby.
  11. 1996 ECW on television was really fun to watch. It had a real intimate feel, and flowed really well. The promotion doesn't hold up well at all especially if you're only watching a match here or there. The promotion in retrospect had tons of flaws. To cover for a roster full of average workers(their are exceptions to this) the most interesting aspects of ECW was their angles and storylines. To cover sub par work they had to be creative with smoke and mirrors.Loss summarized best when saying ECW needs to be watched in full to enjoy, not by watching individual matches.
  12. 1988 NWA was a really fun year for a fan of wrestling. You had Flair putting on good matches with the like of Luger,Hawk,Nikita, and Hawk. You had a really heated feud with the MX/Fantastics. Barry Windham joining the Horseman was excellent. Tully and Arn were haveing good matches with everyone thrown in their path. A lot of this talent were the reasons for haveing really killer COTC, and ppvs. The whole card was stacked with good workers, and guys with a lot of charisma.
  13. I went with World Class. They were white hot for a few years before going down the crapper. They had great babyfaces in the Von Erich Boys, and Iceman Parsons. Enough has been said on the Fabulous Freebirds. The Dynamic Duo were awesome heels as well. The heat in the hair match was phenomenal. With Gino and Adams snipping pieces of hair from all the babyfaces in the territory for a few months in the lead up to lead to losing their own hair was just awesome stuff. Adams was also a really good babyface also. They combined cool angles with strong matches.
  14. I don't recall where I read about the validity of this documentary; but I want to say Wrestling Classics. I hope this is wrong though because the trailer looks pretty interesting. God knows their is a great story there. I just wanted for people to go in with their eyes open when paying for this potential documentary. W/O any distributor it will be hard to make money off this project. Again I'm not saying don't buy it when it becomes available, just be cautious. I know I will be.
  15. I gotta say this is one of my favorite topics to view. It's always fun to look at other peoples opinions of matches that I've seen. This is a really cool list.
  16. I read somewhere recently that the dude making this has ripped off some of the investors and or some of the guys who are in the documentary. I don't recall where I read this, but I would do the buyer beware on purchasing this if/ and or when this documentary becomes available. I myself will wait till I hear if other people have recieved the WCCW Doc. before I pay out. From the trailers it does seem like a pretty cool thing to view.
  17. I totally dug this match. The ending angle was incredible. On a sidenote I was living in Houston at the time this match originally aired. It was broadcast on some syndicated sports channel similar to MSG channel. This angle solidified me as an NWA fan from the kid friendly WWF. I enjoyed this match a tad better than their match up from the Clash I. They were given a little bit more time to develope the story they were trying to tell.
  18. I've always loved this match. Flair really controls this match really well even though he messes up working the legs at different points in the match. I always felt Kerry was his 3rd or 4th best opponent for Flair. Kerry was ripped to shreds(so people viewed him as tough) plus he was really athletic. He throws a great standing drop kick. I agree with Loss on the booking aspect of the match. I also agree with the 4 1/4 * . Good review by the way.
  19. I find this the 2nd best Cruiserweight match in the history of WCW behind Rey and Eddie. I feel their War match was really good too, but is about 3-5 minutes shorter. So they trim a little out of their match and it hurts it a little. The crowd at WW3 was really hot for both guys.

    Matches From 2002

I thought it was a really good match. I was wondering what everybody's take on them piping the crowd noise. I feel a hot crowd can only help a match, but this crowd wasn't hot. Would you rather them pipe it in, or leave it as is?
  21. This was a fantastic match. If the match would have ended on a clean pin by Bret that played into the leg work we would be talking a MOTY contender.
  22. That's a very good point. A lot of his great matches are with stiffs that he carrys, or young guys that he is the senior member in the ring and gets to set up the match.
