This is JIP. This is worked like your typical undercard draw.

This is JIP. Goulet is working the neck. Jay escapes and starts to work the knee. This is real meat and potatoes stuff. Though their is a clear narrative going on. Goulets neck work was pretty nasty. We get 4 minutes of an 11 minute bout.

Super hot opening with the crowd going nuts. It settles down and the faces are standing tall. Heels just feeding and bumping for the American Dream. Heels gain control for a sec, but Dusty turns the tide. Love Dusty walking on top of Teddy to make the tag to the Dog. A super fun shine that the crowd reacts to. The faces set up the Lucha Star while row row rowing the boat. Finally Dusty runs into a knee. The heels have a methodical heat. They're using knees, punches, elbows etc. overall fun stuff. 3*

For years their were major issues in who owned what of the Houston footage.
-
I’m guessing WWE has a lot of Houston in their library because of Mid-South and is why they never made a deal with Tharpe.

[1983-07-09-MACW-Charlotte, NC] Harley Race vs Ric Flair
shoe replied to paul sosnowski's topic in July 1983
These guys have done it all with each other. So weird seeing Doug Dillenger in his policeman uniform. Always loved Race's Red and Blue robe showing his KC/St. Louis alliance. Man they go big early on with the moves. Flair gains control and works on top with a headlock. Big elbow from Ric. Flair woring the Mid-Atlantic style by grabbing a hold and working spots around it. Race keeps things moving by working underneath . We get a little back and forth that looks like Flair was gaining the advantage until a low blow head but by Race. Harley targeting the ribs a bit, the back, knocking Flair loopy with headbutts. Flair fighting back only to be cut off. Race tosses him outside. Race with a suplex on the floor, and then misses a headbutt. Flair takes it to Harley on the floor. Flair sells the damage to the back. Flair has all the momentum now. Big sleeper by Ric pops the crowd. Turns it into a belly to back. Race eats a vertical. Low blow by Race sees a ref bump. They tease a Starcade 83 finish. Flair hooks on the Figure 4. Crowd is sensing a new World Champ. Cheap finish gets Race disqualified. 3* -
This was the feud that had to follow the Slaughter/Kernodle one. The big angles to start this feud happens on the 5/7 and 5/14/83 shows. These shows we don't have on the network. They were really good angles that laid the groundwork for the Briscos heel turn, also they tried to break Jay's leg. They also have a 7/30/83 match on the network which was really good, along with the Starcade match. The fans just hate the Brothers especially of the female persuasion. Jack gets on the mike and rrally riles the crowd. Steamboat and Youngblood out to that special pop of the men who respect them and the squeals fom the girls. The babyfaces get a bald Eagle chant going all from their body language. The faces start hot. Fun dbl team offense from the faces. Jerry is grear eating the offense. He hits Jay with a big back suplex to set up the heat. The heat is focused on Jay's neck and back. Jack torturing him on the mat. Steamboat is great on the outside. The Brisco's heat segment is on point and really great with a ruggidness to it. Even the little stuff done during the heat has value. Hot tag to Steamer and he's running wild. In a great revenge spot to the Brisco turn angle he's after Jerry's leg. He's posting it, Atomic dropping it, punching it, chopping it. Jay hooks on an Inverted Indian Death Lock that Jack breaks up. Desperation clothesline from Jay. Steamboats back in. Chaos is everywhere. Great heel finish. Postmatch Babyfaces standing tall so the crowd forgets about them losing. 4 1/2* This was really well done, and one of the stronger tag matches of 1983 in the territories we have. You think about it you have the Final Conflict, Magnum TA/Wrestling 2 vs Reed/Neidhardt in a cage, Fabs vs Moondogs, and some variation of Freebirds vs Von Erich's?

This is for the Americas tag title. This was a lot of fun laced with some strong psychology. Lothario has the spirit of 76 bandage on from an encouner with Gran Marcus. The 1st fall is mostly all heat. They rip Lothario's bandage off. Both heels are working the cut. Spoiler wins it with the claw. The 2nd fall is more chaos. Again Lothario is selling , Lewin is awesome with the chops to the cut. Spoiler using the ropes in spots was great. Halcon used these nasty thrusts chops to the throat. Lothario catches Spoiler with a punch coming off the top rope with a punch for 3. The 3rd fall was all chaos. The ring was falling apart. Wrestlers were using the ring as weapons. Man Spoiler and Lewin were really great in this match. This was good stuff. 3 1/2*

It looks like Sawyer is selling a leg/hammy injury into the match. I am a jake guy. I might not like the match, but their is usually something Jake does that is fascinating or interesting. He's the epitome as bullet proof. I met him once and didn't really care for him as a person. Sawyer on the arm early. They do a real good job here of paying off the spots, and getting good responses from them. Love Jake using his height to gain leverage on Sawyer. Love Jake's little looks to the audience. Again we get a great payback to the leverage spot. Now Jake targets the hammy. Love Sawyer using the wrist control to set up the arm work. Jake suckers him in and we get him destroying the leg. Jake is just nasty destroying the leg. Sawyer is so good selling the leg being dismantled. The crowd heat has been great. The crowd is so behind this Sawyer comeback only for Jake to cut it off and get heat. Sawyer is bloody, Jake is ultra violent here. The crowd is nuclear. Wrestling 2 is out,Ole too and even Buzz. Buzz is a heel, but he's worried for his brother. The match gets thrown out. We get a Buzz and Jake tease of a fight. This might have been better than the cage match later on. A truly epic Jake performance. 4 1/2*

This is mask vs mask. Mr.Wrestling mask vs 2. Roop is wrestling for Mr. Wrestling. Chants of 2 fill the Omni. 2 feels vert tenacious. Big knee strike by 2. The Million Dollar knee lift from the top ruled. 2 after Roop's leg. Love 2 cinching a front facelock while Roop was setting for a back drop. A crutch to 2's stomach sets up the heat. Small comeback is thwarted by Roop. Roop goes for the mask. It fires 2 up. The crowd goes bonkers. Roop cuts the comeback off again with a huge knee. Flash roll up and 2 gets the win. Mr. Wrestling tries to escape. He's Jessie Barr. 3*

This is the opener to the Last Battle of Atlanta. Lightfoot controlling the mat early on. I wouldn't have guessed Lightfoot woud be owning Thornton on the mat. A big knee to Lightfoot sets up the heat. Thorntorn's forarms are wicked. Lightfoot using the cravat to ward off Thornton. Thorntorn' s European forarms are just a difference maker. Thorton steals one with a roll up. This was a real solid opening match. They kept it on the mat. It was all about move counter move. A really good way to start the show. 2 1/2*

I absolutely blew my mind seeing the Russian dance or to Happy Days fans the dance that won Fonzie the dance off with Joanie as his partner. This is a good length match which more or less was an exhibition for Gotch. The faces got long shine segments throughout. When the heels had a chance to do some stooge spots they were a lot of fun.The timing was spot on. Gotch's full nelson spots ruled. Gotch had a Billy Robinson vibe going. I totally digged Gotch holding onto the armbar. Gotch shows a lot of character here. Weird seeing Gotch eat a fall. Fun stuff.

[1983-05-19-AWA-Winnipeg, MB] Rick Martel vs Billy Robinson
shoe replied to paul sosnowski's topic in May 1983
This is JIP and Billy is after Martel's back. We see a back breaker, then he hooks on a bear hug. Then hits a beautiful gut wrench suplex. Martel is really good selling underneath. Another nice touch was Martel bumping Robinson outside to the floor. This allows Martel to start stretching his back out that has been worked over. All this is pretty interesting.Robinson targets the arm and we see a nifty escape from Martel. Some big strikes from both guys. Martel hits a neck breaker and it transitions with Martel on top and this is ok. We see Martel control with a headlock, with Robinson showing some fight. Lord Al interferes to set up the Robinson win. Match began to drag towards the end, and took Lord Al foreever to climb and grab Martel's leg. for t 3he 3. 2 3/4* -
[1952-06-17-Southwest Sports-Dallas TX] Lou Thesz vs Bill Longson
shoe replied to paul sosnowski's topic in 1952-1953
Thesz is a legend and Longson is a known as a great worker. Loving Longson using rough house tactics. A total chess match. Thesz catches the the 1st fall with the Thesz press. Longson is great at using cheating tactics. From hair pulls to these rabbit punches to the leg. Longson has been a total joy to watch him mix up his cheating with the mat work. Fun match. 3 1/4* -
It's a fight right from jump street. Jack keeping Ted off balance with his trademark arm drags. Teddy takes a powder to regain his composure. Jack with a big slam, and Ted takes another powder. An arm drag into an arm bar. Then transitions it into a hammer lock followed by some knee drops into the shoulder. A Rope break and another powder. A nice spot sees Ted go shoulder 1st into the corner. Jack works the arm. Ted suckers him in and has been laying this trap all match. Finally Jack bites, and Ted starts his heat by working the neck. Big knee drop to Jack's neck. Now Ted uses his weight with a headlock. Jack fights out only for a hair pull to start from scratch. Again Jack begins his comeback and hits a big Atomic Drop to escape. Jack follows up with a camel clutch. Adominal stretch by Jack. Ted escapes and misses his double knees. Jack attacks the leg. Figure 4 by Jack. A rope break saves Ted. Loaded Glove finish is all she wrote. I thought the working of holds was well done. I liked Jack working different body parts, but still being focused. I liked the payoffs for example Ted's powders. Overall good stuff.3*
