  1. They were important people fighting over the belts, though, so by default, it raised the artificial "prestige" of them. WWE does that a lot. It generally peaks and valleys through makeshift main event combinations, then it falls back onto Cryme Tyme/Deuce and Domino/London and Kendrick type of teams until the next angle (usually WWE/World champion & challenger as team) comes about. I loved JeriShow and Miz/Morrison, but the last truly great WWE tag team was MNM. MNM vs the Hardys was the closest thing to an old school tag team feud between two great teams over a long period of time that you're probably going to get in modern day wrestling.
  2. Not that I saw.
  3. They're both the worst workers in WWE no matter how you slice it. Sin Cara is better strictly because he has the benefit of having his matches edited on SD. That wasnt the case last night and they looked equally bad for completely different reasons.
  4. Rape scene or not, it did feel more like a movie than a wrestling match. I liked parts of it and liked some of Cenas selling, but it was way too hokey and overdone for my tastes.
  5. Lawler vs Cole was perfect. Short and sweet "match", Cole doing the timeless heel doctors note promo and Lawler ripping his clothes off and throwing him through the Cole Mine. I would've prefered Lawler dropping a couple extra top rope fist drops as a receipt but this was fine...then we got an incredible post-match payoff with everyone getting their licks in, and Bret Hart showing up to lock in a sharpshooter while Lawler forcefed Cole his foot was a great callback to the Lawler-Hart feud and a fantastic way to blow off this feud. Great stuff, smartly booked and this show has picked up in the last 2 matches.
  6. Another great match from Orton and Christian. Christians escalation of frustration made for a fun story and the finishing stretch was spectacular. I think Christian is turning heel this week at the SD tapings. yeah what was up with that? They've spent so much time building her and she doesn't show up on PPV? Weird.
  7. Yeah Mason Ryan is an awful pro wrestler. Best part of the match was easily Punks facials and selling for the monsters offense. The New Nexus sans Punk has to be the worst stable of wrestlers in a very long time.
  8. Watching the 80's All Japan set really opened my eyes to Terry Funk as a babyface in the early 80's. He was SO sympathetic, crowd adored him, and he could light up the comeback torch with wild punches, emote facially and audibly with the best of them, bump like an ace, and when he would blade his ear, shit was ON. As far as dudes that could truly do anything at a high level, Terry Funk and Eddie Guerrero are the primary two that come to mind. Both could brawl, work the mat, work heel, work face, bleed, sell, bump, work varied styles and varied opponents, etc. What about Lawler? The Bockwinkel matches, Funk matches, Dundee matches, Jimmy Hart matches, Miz matches, etc show his range. He's equally as good face and heel, so on... I thought people stopped believing in the Angle gaga years ago...
  9. Pretty sure Kane is 6'8"-6'9" without the boots.
  10. When was the last time they used them on WWE tv? Was it Khali squashes?
  11. Nathan Jones was in LOD? Thought that was Heidenreich.
  12. I think this show will go down in the history books as largely "forgettable" moreso than "bad", because most of the matches ranged from good to very good, with the only real disappointment being Lawler/Cole and the booking of the main. It just didnt FEEL like Wrestlemania. Nothing really happened. No titles changed hands, no real surprises or memorable moments. Whoever said it felt like a 4 hour Raw hit the nail. 100% agreed and I wouldn't be surprised if Vince pulled out Patterson just for the task. I'm not sure that I trust current creative to do this, er... "the right way", otherwise. Despite all the stuff that's been tossed out that typically makes me cringe, I was willing to give the match a chance whenever it comes out on DVD. But that one just lost me. John You know going in that they were going to be dropping big bombs, lots of them, and be kicking out of lots of them, with a lot of "WTF, why won't this guy stay down, jesus christ, WTF?" facials from both guys. That's just how these matches are worked. if you've seen the HHH/HBK HIAC match, you know how much Trips likes stalling between big spots, and you know how Taker worked his matches against Shawn. I thought they accomplished what they had to, and we got an intense battle of old warriors in a clash of the titans style WWE main event match. There have been a lot better matches of it's kind, and a lot worse ones. It was flawed by nature, and isn't a match that'll stand the test of time, but worked in it's context.
  13. He reset it then Rockbottomed and costed Cena the match.
  14. Goodhelmets way of watching Baba matches as a super hero would really apply to Takers WM matches at this point. They're much more enjoyable in that context.
  15. Eaton/Ware was a fucking awesome tag team and just might be my favorite Eaton tag partner... Scorpio wins if we're talking longevity as he still is good, but I like Reeds peak (1985) more. I never saw a Scorp match as good as Reed/Murdoch. :-) By no means the best, Booker T deserves some mention.
  16. Rey addressed a retirement rumor on his twitter recently... "The rumor is I might B retiring soon! NOT TRUE, got many years left of entertaining my FANS!U guys keep me going! Luv it! Los quieroUnChingo"
  17. How does Chavo Jr rank against them at this point? Chavo has a boatload of good stuff in WWE.
  18. Question... How does Mando Guerrero rate as a worker against his brothers?
