  2. They ever get a real rating for last week's show? Because if it was a 3.4 or 3.3, that is a signifigant jump. If it had rebounded already to a 3.6 or 3.7, not so much.
  3. ..and here's where TNA will pay for hiring Pacman Jones: It will give them just enough media coverage to draw attention to their existence. The committees in question will probably drop some sort of subpeona on them because of it. Without Pacman getting even miniscule headlines, they wouldn't even get noticed in all of this.
  4. It may not be what Phil comes up with, but I'd love to see Andre vs. Don Leo Jonathan again. ...By "again" do you mean you saw them wrestle live? Because if there is tape of the two of them going at it, I have never seen it and would LOVE to! I would recommend Andre vs. Mad Dog Vachon from 1974 Grand Prix if you need a good, athletic-looking Andre match for these. ...and if your looking for a good AWA match or two to include, I would start with the High Flyers vs. Martel/Santana bouts from 7/82 and 8/82 in St. Paul. Only the last 5 minutes of the first bout are available, but everything but the first few minutes of the rematch is available. Real good stuff there. After that, Jumbo-Martel from 9/29/85 in St. Paul, Bock/Stevens vs. Gagne/Brunzell from 4/80 Winnipeg, and Bockwinkel vs. darn near anyone would be good choices.
  5. Gotcha, thanks for clarifying.
  6. What do you mean by that exactly? If I'm hiring someone whether they appear to be on drugs or not is definitely a consideration. Granted, I'm not hiring people to act in big-budget movies, but still...
  7. ...and once it's sufficently out of thepublic eye, the policies put in place out of this investigation will slide backwards since nobody will be paying attention anymore. Circle of Life.
  8. The ultimate con for me was the con perpetrated by the WWF that they were the "only game/best game/only thing that mattered in wrestling" starting in 1984. Consider first that this con was aimed IMO at non-wrestling fans. It did work beautifully on casual viewers in this regard. Think about something as simple as a News station giving credit to all pro sports brawls in hockey, baseball, et al as "looking like something out of the WWF!". Now think of every sports station in the country making a claim along those lines, which did develop over time, for years on end, continuing to this very day. That's just one example, but the brainwashing was brilliant as it begun in the news media and used them as a tool to implant the idea of "WWF" into the mentality of people everywhere, regardless of their love or hate of Pro Wrestling. After 1984, everyone I ever talked to that despised pro wrestling always referred to the WWF while dissing wrestling. Vince said "we're the best" over and over and over until everyone believed it, true or not. Promoting at it's best, some would say. but the target audience was not the wrestling fan as it existed pre-1984, it was the non-fan, and the development of the WWF as the representative symbols for pro wrestling as a whole in ALL situations, good or bad. THAT is in my mind the greatest con ever perpetrated in pro wrestling history.
