I didn't see that one!

The only place they can get fans from is a decent TV slot. Now even my friends who liked wrestling don't even know it's on TV or are not willing to stay late to watch it (Japan, as technologically advanced as it is for some things, is way behind the US when it comes to everyday usage of recording devices). But 100% agreeing with this. Interest is definitely higher but it's not "hot" and there's no "buzz". I was in Japan (not Tokyo) the days right before WK9 and I purposedly checked the sports newspapers and I didn't see any coverage other than a little side blurb. Decades ago Takada would fart and unless there was something major in baseball it would make front cover and/or get a big colour picture. That's a hot product. I don't know who told Dave that Nakamura, Okada, Makabe and Tanahashi have "mainstream name recognition" but that also seems a bit of a stretch.

Hercules was in a weird spot after Roma left. There was a Hercules/Sid MSG match in 1992 too. Also at MSG they ran Haku/Barbarian vs. Kato/Mr. Fuji (I'm sure this match has got a backstory but I can't remember it... maybe Tanaka's father or mother dying). This was an angle building up to a Fuji vs Heenan feud and they even had a match somewhere (not MSG) which may have been Heenan's last. -
I thought exactly the same as you did in here. They really need to start doing sitdown features with guys like Hulk, Bruno or Flair that they have got under contract. Also holy shit when he couldn't remember who the Twin Towers were and at one point he thought Earthquake was one of them. I sometimes wonder about the percentages of Hulk's bullshit being just pure bullshit vs. his brain being completely screwed up.

Lately they have been uploading 1999 and 2000 raws into this Xmas section. If you are a big DX and HHH fan then you'll be happy with the uploads. They are apparently going to upload some Heat episodes as well (Halftime Heat I guess?)

Indeed - Haku had a rep in Mexico as working stiff and many top line rudos HATED working with him. He'd probably have been gone soon but Pierroth Jr. was a big fan of him because he liked to work matches with back and forth stiff chops and Haku, of course, would never complain about the chops. Canek should have known better but during the El Toreo days he faced a lot of large foreigners who couldn't fight. Rookie days Konnan used to get especially frustrated with Canek, who wouldn't give him anything if he felt like it, and there was nothing Konnan could do about it. -
TNT episode 10 (around the 1:27:30 mark if you want to watch it) Vince, Lord Al and Salvatore Bellomo are cooking pizza dough. Alfred starts smelling the flour and gets it all over his nose. Vince: "Alfred, you have powder all over your nose. That's probably not the first time I have seen that, I am not too sure." What a different world it was back then.

Indeed - I am happy to pay 10 bucks to access the specials, old content and other random stuff that they put in (I like stuff like Countdown). I haven't watched the last couple of PPV's or NXT or any other new shows, I just don't have a lot of time and I'm not interested in them. Hopefully the TNT/Primetime has had a good enough response that they see again some value in the old stuff as part of their package. They ran NWA Saturday Night and Mid Atlantic for a few years in Classics so I hope that stuff starts popping up soon.

That same account months ago guaranteed that nothing would be ever taken down.
-
It's probably a rumour because they have been taking stuff down and re-uploading it with a little bar below in the screencap (I guess for easy indication of what the show is when it's on the schedule). It's likely that they screwed up and forgot to upload something.

Unlicensed wrestler homages in other media

Terry Man from the Kinnikuman (MUSCLE) cartoon is based on Terry Funk and even uses the same signature moves. Well.. there's also Gagne Mask... forehead tattoo included. Sky Man is based on Mil Mascaras and I'm sure that there are many others I'm forgetting (haven't watched this cartoon in two decades!) -
If I remember correctly El Rudo, The King and some others that showed up in these tours are Laguna region locals.

I'm going to watch that now. Has by any chance Mascaras ever wrestled Fujiwara before (it probably would have been in the last decade)? -
A friend told me that he read somewhere (probably one of the C&P wrestling news sites) that there were going to be several uploads a day of Attitude era content during the last 12 days of the year.

If you search for the right names you can find pretty much all episodes but maybe somebody used a smarter way. I'm now watching Mean Gene looking for Adrian Adonis in the streets of New York. I work from home a lot and I must say that it's a perfect show to leave somewhere in the background while you do other things. It's campy as fuck, easy to watch (and also easy to ignore because you aren't missing all that much) and the matches are quick and mostly not very offensive
-
So... if you search for wrestler names you can find stuff that isn't yet categorised. I was looking for an Iron Sheik promo to show it to a friend (from either a TNT or Primetime , Mean Gene is struggling not to laugh on camera) so I typed in Iron Sheik on the search bar and found a few TNT episodes not on the list. I imagine it's a matter of time that a large bulk of TNT's is released. Not a surprise since that show's entire run was on 24/7.

Until today I had never seen George Barrios in a picture or TV. What an odd looking mofo. -
I'm not surprised that their own stuff is what they are uploading. Next in line is Prime Time according to the schedule. The TNT segment with Paul Orndorff insulting an overweight lady is tremendous. Is that the one in the Gym? In the UK in the 1980s which I didnt know at the time it was Orndorff he was ridiqueled on various compilation shows that looked at silly and funny stuff where he was berating someone at a gym. No idea where it was from though. That same one. It's hilarious. I saw it for the first time more than a decade ago in (I believe) one of those Best of WWF tapes. Shoe: A random ep of Prime Time Wrestling is on the network's schedule for Friday or Saturday. I scanned through it and saw a bunch of Rene Goulet, Mr Fuji, Iron Sheik, Volkoff... typical mid 80s WWF garbage, but I won't criticise them now that they are uploading stuff.

Yeah it's back on everywhere. They have uploaded a bunch of extras from different home releases which is cool too. Now... I wish they'd upload the Mid South matches from their Blu Ray release.

If you find an online copy, please do share. If not... I will be back to Spain for Xmas, I will try to track down my copy. Over the years Kurt Brown sent me some cool stuff I'd not mind converting to a digital format, such as different lucha movies, the Crush Gals movie, the Beauty Pair movie, etc. -

I don't know where can you find this (youtube, etc.) but there's a Titanes movie from the early 70s that I believe is the only footage from the prime years that still survives. I got my copy from Kurt about 15 years ago so maybe Fredo Esparza has got copies on his DVD website. -
By the way, any "unreleased" shows such as Tuesday Night Titans that you can only watch on your computer will work on your other devices if you add the shows or series to your watchlists. I put TNT on my Apple TV and I just saw the Iron Sheik rambling. I had never seen anything complete episodes from this show (except for clips) ... well it's interesting to say the least.

I guess that Dave may have some MSG, MLG, etc. type shows that never made it to WWE Classics on Demand. Other than that I imagine that the strength of Dave's collection may be in US territorial stuff.
