  1. There is also that AWFUL copy and paste function that makes everything show up a different color. That combined with youtube embeds making my computer run slow, and the destruction of all previous content, pretty much killed the DVDVR board dead for me.
  2. Looks like there is no choice but to upgrade. I am terrified of it myself, but if the IPS driver error is that big of a problem for people it has to be done.

  4. I'm not shoe, but my thought would actually be 82-89. If someone wanted to argue that there were a few guys obviously better than Lawler in 89 I wouldn't argue against that, but I also think his feuds with Kerry and Embry from that year were excellent.
  5. I used to absolutely hate that Owen and Bret Cage Match, but came to really like it over the years. Having said that I can't counter the arguments against it because I completely understand them and think they are valid. It's just that I happen to think within the "escape he cage" WWE/F framework it was about as logical a match as I've ever seen.

  7. The biggest problem I have with Hansen was that he wasn't as good in the US as he was in Puerto Rico and Japan. I can't think of a match he had stateside that came close to his career matches overseas. That's a pretty glaring mark on his GOAT candidacy in my book. He's also part of an early 80s Japanese era that I like less and less every time I see it, and he's not much of a mat worker. Not that you want Stan Hansen to work the mat, but he does from time to time and it's not great. I think the consensus was that Hansen acquitted himself well on the AWA Set. Hell he was in my favorite singles match on the set, and had very good to great matches with old Crusher Blackwell, Sarge, green as grass Leon White, Bockwinkel, and Hennig. Also his early 90's WCW run seems to have held up better than expected based on discussions I've had/yearbook comments. Since that is the bulk of the U.S. Hansen we have, I'm not sure I'd go to the wall on the argument that he was much better elsewhere. Also, I think Hansen is surprisingly solid working holds
  8. I also hate Tom Zenk, hatred of him is a uniting force between me and Joe, like our mutual love for Damien Wayne. Also I want to hear who Joe thinks is average/middle of the road, controversial or not.
  9. When I watched tons of WCW years ago, I thought Rude was the best wrestler in the company in the best year in company history (1992). I have no clue if I would feel the same way now. Having said that I found him underwhelming in Texas, his WWF run is hit and miss (with strong highs to be sure) and his peak was very short.
  10. Valentine is judged post peak because that is when he was most visible as a national player. It's the same thing with Patera sadly. This will read as a troll of W2BTD, but if I was forced to identify a wrestler who I find to be fundamentally middling, average and uninteresting, without necessarily being bad it would be Tanahashi. But then I also think Valentine is vastly better than any wrestler currently on the NJPW roster, so it's clear we are operating from different worlds.
  11. Elgin v. Richards easily
  12. Vordell Walker v. Dagon Briggs - Roulette Match USWA 1/17 I thought this was an awesome match. I guess you could argue this lost some steam toward the end, and there was a spot or two that I could see drawing groans in certain quarters, but taken as a whole this is the sort of match likely to be near the top of my indie MOTY chart in twelve months. The gimmick was the old bit where every corner has a bag with a weapon in it, but they actually used the gimmicks sparingly and effectively. In fact this ended up being a match worked around the excess, rather than a match all about the excess. In some ways this felt like an IWRG match as you had some really nice opening matwork (seriously I really loved the hell out of some of this), which built to some intense and violent brawling on the floor, which eventually led to the action coming back in the ring and some big near falls and spots before the finish. Lots of nasty spots in this including guys getting smashed into chairs, smacked with belts, choked with nooses, et. Walker hit his big running knee as a reset at one point, there was another great reset spot on a superplex, and I even liked the flash forward roll slam Briggs did though i could see some loathing it. I also loved the finish as you had Walker get to the tacks , only for Briggs to get a chain from the other bag and deck Vordell for the fall. This is the best match I've seen in 2013 so far and a great beginning to the year for Walker.
  13. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the flaws of Satanico
  14. Man that Real Americans v. Rhodes Brothers match was perfectly fine, but I even as big a mark as I am for Dustin and Cesaro, I thought it was disappointing. I'm not even sure it would make my top five matches from tv that week
  15. When I think of a "good but not great" wrestler the first name I think of is Bob Holly. Fundamentally sound, but relatively nondescript guy. Did lots of things well but nothing so well that he stood out (aside from maybe his dropkick). Always worked hard, and often times smart, but never a guy who quite put it all together at once. No really awful periods to speak of, but no really strong ones either. Lots of good matches, no great ones.
  16. Actually I think Jay Lethal v. Eddie Edwards from PWG last year is the worst match I've ever seen. I can't think of anything more offensive to my sensibilities as a fan at least.
  17. Here is the correct link to Walker v. Sigmon. People really need to watch this match, and I'd also recommend there Submission match from the tv a few weeks before as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdSewgQz_D4
  18. Steiners v. Muta and hase
  19. Walker v sigmon was easily the best. Actually I believe pwx tv aired Cedric Alexander v Chris hero during this period, and if so that might be my number 2. Barring something great on sd this week it is possible that I will vote for Jason Kincaid v americos next week. Tcw tv has been great for the last six weeks or so.

  21. Sting didn't draw WCW fans when he was the ace of WCW
  22. Shawn, Hall, Chyna, Vince, Flair, et
  23. There a lot of great matches from Puerto Rico in the 80's, including some of my favorite matches of the decade. The Hansen v. Colon feud would be the apex
  24. Off hand that covers it fairly well. I enjoy the atlas match from Shea, but it isn't high end, or the sort of thing that will change minds about him as a worker. To be honest I wouldn't expect parv to be a big patera fan .
  25. PR from the early 80's is hard to come by. Most of the footage that exists is studio footage, and while I have enjoyed that stuff more than KrisZ has, there is little to nothing from it that would stand up as a high end match. The earliest WWC matches outside of that setting I can think of are Colon v. Abby from Trindad in 81, which is fun mainly for the setting (it is one of their weaker matches really) and Abby v. Andre from the 83 Anniversary show which is a really fun super hero v. super villian clash
