  1. His best qualifications are being the guy who turned Montreal around and into a major town, being one of the top drawing cards in Boston during a period when that was a hot town, and being a true international drawing card.
  2. I think the evidence strongly suggests that Piper was a very good worker at minimum for most of his career.
  3. It's Henri DeGlane, a pick I support and pretty much knew was going to happen this year.
  4. Doesn't Lance Storm have a rep of being a family man? He definitely got out early.
  5. Ray Rougeau is actually fascinating in general. A tough guy you wouldn't think was a tough guy. A great worker, who's best work is largely unexplored (Montreal). I have heard people say he was a very good promo in French, but I don't speak French. A very good drawing card, who is not thought of that way, because again, even with Pat and Bertrand's excellent book, we rarely think about Montreal in those ways. The fact that he got out early makes him even more fascinating
  6. TNA really hasn't been watchable since Don West left.
  7. He's already in the Jericho role right now, as they have put him and Punk with the Wyatts to get them over.
  8. Based on what?
  9. Is complaining about Super Cena objective criticism?
  10. That was articulated ten times better than I would have been able to do. I've probably watched thirty Solar/Navarro matches/exchanges in the last few years, so I know it when I see it, but I'm terrible at explaining it

Calm down guys, let it play out. Long term build!!!

Oh man this is hilarious. Either HHH is going to work a Higher Power gimmick and will be the source of Bray's cult power OR Daniel Bryan just got relegated to feuding with the Wyatt's. Either way WWE is being booked like a string of aceman posts now and I love it.

    Not really
  15. I'm not saying they don't see Punk as a big time guy. I'm saying I don't see him as a big time guy, nor does anyone I know, nor do I think he's really presented that way. The Jericho comparison is one I've made before and I think it is dead on accurate. Worth noting that the Rumble number is a number that could easily be read as disappointing depending on how you look at it.
  16. There have been many problems with the storyline, but the one that I think is the worst and hardest to defend is that if the goal was to get over Bryan in any long term, serious fashion, through slow build there should have been no rematch against Orton, let alone multiple rematches with screwjobs on ppvs. On Punk, last night was one of the only meaningful wins the guy has had in a year. He's the guy who wrestles bigger names than him and you are 100 percent positive he will lose. He makes money and that's good for him. As a fan he's basically a joke as an "upper tier" guy.
  17. I think it's pretty obvious that there is worry about ratings/attendance. I believe HHH/Shawn involvement and the return of Cena (especially the return of Cena) has a ton to do with that concern. Also the issue isn't that they aren't behind Bryan or that they are giving up on him. It's that the long term build here has been a myth because they have already run the feud into the ground with overexposure and a ton of screwjobs and have nothing to show for it. Bryan may very well end up where Punk is...which is a better money spot I'm told, but is really not all that strong a spot in terms of presentation.
  18. Cena and I think Rey are the only two in recent years he didn't do right?
  19. Just one? I find that odd. I would have guessed multiple people would be getting in this year for sure.
  20. Will be listening to this today. For future reference I was born in Chattanooga, but moved to Charleston when I was seven months old. Still I visited Chattanooga all the time because all my extended family lived there. This led to me going to many shows in both places and getting to see that Gilbert/Simmons v. Fantastics match live.
  21. Biggest positive coming out of this show is I think there is at least a decent chance that the Rhodes boys get to run the gauntlet against the WWE tag teams that make t.v. It's a shame the company is so intent on pushing Los Matadores, because the Real Americans would make tremendous opponents for them. Still, I am at least happy at the prospect of them working some of the regular teams on the roster for the next couple of months
  22. At least there is a good wrestling brand this year under the WWE umbrella, albeit one you can only watch on Hulu
  23. The problem Bryan had is he got over big time, but it didn't translate at the box office. To the WWE brass the only way a guy is really over is if he can draw and draw against anyone. This is why the smart money nowadays is in being a part timer who only works big shows, because you can delude the fools running the company into believing you have vastly more value than you actually have. The idea of building on a guy being over, by developing him slowly and smartly over the span of several months and protecting him with booking is a thing of the past. That's why this whole hilarious lie about this feud being a "slow burn!" was so transparently moronic from the start.
  24. The problem is the current model does not allow them to let anyone grow into a top slot. Even with better booking, I think it's nearly impossible because of how they run their tv and how they react to business trends. This is one of the problems that comes with being a publicly traded company. What's funny is that if they reacted the way they react now back then, there never would have been a Steve Austin.
  25. Worse than the last four months? Really? Yes. Whoever ends the streak is going to get a tremendous amount of backlash because people absolutely do not want it to happen. Bryan ending the streak would kill his biggest asset (over with the live crowds to an absurd degree).
